Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana. The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk. Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor. Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards, shops and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries. There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes. A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive. We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay. We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. All our sites are fully outfitted with quality linens, towels, dishes and cooking equipment. All of the units have Air Conditioned and heat. New this year is our chicken coop and run. We (Bill) has always wanted chickens.

The campsite is set about 150 feet back from the road, screened by trees for privacy, with the nearest neighbor roughly 300+ feet to the northwest. Wildlife is common — you’ll often spot squirrels, birds, deer, and rabbits around the property. The site features its own fire pit, perfect for evenings by the campfire. As you’re in the middle of the woods, mosquitoes are present and can be worse in the evenings. Bug spray is recommended around the fire at night. This is primitive camping. There is no potable water, toilet, or shower on site, so guests must be fully self-contained. Please bring your own water, camp toilet, and gear, and practice Leave No Trace. A trail leads to the back of the property, where I’m currently building a small A-frame cabin. Guests are welcome to explore the trail, but please stay out of the active construction area and the A-frame itself for safety. There is also a section being cleared for a future septic field that contains many small stumps — please avoid this area. The property is conveniently located just a few miles from Mancelona for supplies and about 15 minutes from Torch Lake and Bellaire. The area offers excellent nearby trails for hiking and mountain biking, along with many lakes and rivers that make it a great base for swimming, kayaking, and fishing. Torch Lake is known for its crystal-clear water, and there’s a small sandy beach on Lake Bellaire. I provide guests with a map highlighting local food, activities, and attractions in the area. There is a clean porta-potty and water can be provided on request. Also, a 4-person tent can be provided at an additional cost. The campsite has a fire ring, shovel and plenty of wood for late night fires. The Raven's Nest is a cozy 12 x 16 cabin. It is an off-grid experience with a wood stove for winter adventures. The property is a work in progress, with a goal of it becoming an eco-retreat with updated accommodations. We hope you return for more adventures to see the progress. In the meantime, enjoy!

The hosts were absolutely wonderful and attentive. The camper was clean, the mattresses super comfortable, and everything you could possibly need was provided including bedding and a coffee maker and electric kettle. The refrigerator was a good size, and kept everything at the perfect temperature. Will definitely be returning next year.

Weekend Trip to pineleaf.

We had a wonderful time staying at Pineleaf! Our host, Tim, was very welcoming and hospitable. We stayed in the cabin. We woke up every morning to a great variety of birds and wildlife surrounding us, especially in the gorgeous field that the deck overlooked. The bed and outhouse bathroom were exceptionally clean. We highly recommend staying here and hope to come back soon!

We had a great time in the Avion at HillCrest! The location is perfect, close to lots of things to do but far away to feel secluded. The Avion itself was stocked with essentials and was the perfect cozy spot to hang out ant the end of the day. Dan and Bill were very welcoming hosts and have put a lot of time and love into their beautiful property. We look forward to planning an another trip!

1 night at pineleaf.

Tims cabin is so awesome and relaxing. It's just you and nature. It's a little drive off grid on a little dirt road easily accessable for any vehicle. Tim make sure to help you in anyway. If it's all the stuff he stocks in the cabin just in case you forgot something, to offering you information on what there is to do close to camp. This was our fourth stay and it was only for one night. My wife and I were on the way home from the U.P. and needed some where to stay about half way. It was nice catching up with Tim ( who we consider a good friend ) I'm glad he's giving us a chance to enjoy his piece of paradise . Thanks again Tim!

4 nights at Private Rustic Pines- Dog friendly

My daughter and I loved the place! Peaceful getaway to slow down and take in the beautiful up north living. Clean, cute and perfect setup! There was a portable gas stove top, pans and utensils so we were able to pack lighter! Leah provides some lighting options which were great but if you plan to stay up late playing games, you may want to bring extra. Leah was great at answering these questions prior to the stay so we came prepared! Would highly recommend and will stay again for sure! Thank you again Leah!

We hope to get back to the Traverse City area (this was our first time) and we would absolutely return to Dan and Bill's HillCrest! The best accommodations (all we needed to bring were our food and clothes!) Our RV (Maple Grove Catalina) had everything else we needed... even a Keurig with some pods, cocktail shaker, toaster, small blender, and I think there was also a pressure cooker and crockpot. Even a small dishwasher and washer/dryer combo! Absolutely beautiful property!! Quiet, peaceful, just truly GREAT. AND, Bill and Dan are genuinely very gracious and interesting hosts who care about the details. If we weren't 350+ miles away, we'd be inviting them over for dinner.

We had a beautiful time here. Amazing place to disappear to. Absolutely wonderful property with extremely helpful and responsive hosts. We loved the ability to take a little canoe trip, and went for several long walks in the woods without seeing any neighbors. Loved every minute!
