I absolutely loved our stay. The site was gorgeous, the trailer was well equipped in terms of bedding, towels, toiletries, and kitchen wares, there were lots of spots and seating to enjoy different views of the property and a corner of Torch Lake, and the hosts were extremely accommodating and delightful to interact with. Even though we had a lovely propane fire pit at our site (which we did use), Dan built a wood fire for me one evening as I’d asked about bringing wood before we checked in. If I ever plan to spend time in that area of Michigan again, Hillcrest will be the first place I try to book.
It was a wonderful place. Dan and Bill keep their land so clean and harmonious. It's a quite place where you really rest. We had a campfire where all campers met and shared for a couples of hours. If you don't have any idea what things to do around, don't worry, they have magazines and newspapers where you can get a bunch of ideas. Unfortunately, my camera broke before the trip and I couldn't get good quality pictures of this beautiful place. Definitely I would recommend this place.
Incredible hosts who care just as much as their guests quality of stay just as much (or more) than the revenue they generate from hosting. The Avion unit we stayed in was as clean as a high end Marriott room, everything works perfectly, and the location is incredible for visiting the many destinations in the area (torch lake, fish town, traverse, etc). We will definitely be looking forward to staying again next year and catching up with Bill and Dan!
We usually just pitch a tent, but we decided to change it up and rent an R.V and Bill & Dan's place is awesome. It's a must visit if your staying near Torch Lake. The R.V was super nice, their property was beautiful and they were wonderful. Alot of amenities and a great place to take a hike as well.

Dan and Bill’s place was the perfect home base for our Up North getaway! We explored Kalkaska, Eastport/Barnes Park, Bellaire and Charlevoix, then came back to beautiful sunsets and plenty of space for our 5-year-old to run around.
They’ve truly thought of everything, from cold water and ice waiting for us to plenty of towels and all the little things you might need. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating, even checking on us after a rainy night to make sure the camper wasn’t leaking. (It wasn’t)
We especially loved the balance of privacy with friendly faces nearby. We really enjoyed chatting with both Dan and Bill and felt completely at home. We’ll absolutely be back, and will probably bring friends next time!
One of the best (if not the best) experiences we've had with hosted stays! My husband and I stayed at Hillcrest for 2 nights and didn't want to leave. The property is stunning; it's obvious from the moment you arrive that so much intentional care has been put into curating a beautiful and peaceful environment. Dan and Bill are both warm, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. From a detailed tour of the grounds and unit itself to local recommendations , all our needs were met during our stay. It's in a great location to several towns and lakes nearby, or just hanging out on the property itself for a quiet getaway. We hope to visit again in the future and would truly recommend to anyone.
Amazing stay! Bill and Dan have thought of every detail! The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The location is central to many hikes, nature preserves, and beaches. We slept great and were able to fully relax!

Dan and Bill’s land is beautiful! We had an excellent time and they are fantastic hosts. The place is quiet, serene, and close to town. Pictures truly don’t do this place justice. The RV is gorgeous and fully stocked, just bring clothes and food! We loved hanging on the deck to enjoy the sunset and hot tub. Our son had a wonderful time sleeping in the second loft and can’t stop talking about wanting to go back to the RV- including to see the chickens! Dan and Bill are the friendliest hosts I’ve ever met and we would love to go visit them again at HillCrest!
This was my second year coming to stay with Dan and Bill, and it did not disappoint! We stayed in the Lake View Avion trailer, which was just perfect. Dan and Bill are attentive hosts, and their property is full of beautiful wonder. It was the perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring around Traverse City. 10/10 recommend!
I loved Dan and Bills oasis. It was clean, quiet, safe, inviting and they were the most kind hosts. The tiny home was comfortable and had everything you would need during your stay.
Dan and Bill are excellent hosts. This is the second camper of theirs I've stayed in and I liked this one even more. The little patio area was perfect for doing some computer work outside.
We had a fantastic stay! The camper was spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. The outdoor spaces were beautiful, and relaxing in the hot tub after a day of exploring was the perfect way to unwind.
Dan and Bill were wonderful hosts: friendly, welcoming, and full of great recommendations for things to do in the area. We especially enjoyed visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Haven, the Cherry Festival in Traverse City, and renting a kayak on Torch Lake.
If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with easy access to Northern Michigan's best attractions, I highly recommend staying here. We'd happily come back again!

Second time staying at Bill and Dan’s place. Always AMAZING! 🤩 Great hosts who are always readily available! Their property is beyond gorgeous with beautiful landscaping. Everything is always perfect!
We loved staying at Maple Grove. The RV was comfortable with all the things we needed. Whenever we had a problem (a storm knocked out one of the A/C units) or needed something (spices and a grill) Bill was very responsive and resolved it. The outdoor space is beautiful and inviting. The hot tub was amazing after hiking earlier in the day. The location was great; quiet, secluded, and out of the way yet close enough to Traverse City, Torch Lake, cute towns like Elk Rapids and Alden, and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Bill and Dan are excellent hosts, and have done an incredible job restoring their property. We'd recommend staying with them at any of their sites, but we will definitely be back to Maple Grove!

We had a great time in the Avion at HillCrest! The location is perfect, close to lots of things to do but far away to feel secluded. The Avion itself was stocked with essentials and was the perfect cozy spot to hang out ant the end of the day. Dan and Bill were very welcoming hosts and have put a lot of time and love into their beautiful property. We look forward to planning an another trip!

Very nice people! The Catalina RV was so enjoyable and perfect for a weekend getaway. Everything you could need is provided! They truly thought of everything. Great trip!!
We hope to get back to the Traverse City area (this was our first time) and we would absolutely return to Dan and Bill's HillCrest!
The best accommodations (all we needed to bring were our food and clothes!) Our RV (Maple Grove Catalina) had everything else we needed... even a Keurig with some pods, cocktail shaker, toaster, small blender, and I think there was also a pressure cooker and crockpot. Even a small dishwasher and washer/dryer combo!
Absolutely beautiful property!! Quiet, peaceful, just truly GREAT.
AND, Bill and Dan are genuinely very gracious and interesting hosts who care about the details. If we weren't 350+ miles away, we'd be inviting them over for dinner.

Hillcrest (Lake View) has a beautiful view. Chose this for a fall getaway. Great location central to Traverse City (asylum tour) and Boyne Mountain (Skybridge). Hosts are friendly and Avion RV was a cool experience, clean and well-stocked with everything you need. Hope to visit again in the summer to experience Torch Lake, which is very close to this.

The property was so stunningly beautiful and the accommodations were so comfortable that we decided to skip going out for dinner and hang out in the Avión.
Enjoyed all the amenities! The tiny home is great! So comfortable, and cozy.
Very clean they were very nice and the property is way more beautiful in person than in the pictures the hot tub was clean well kept up the RV was stocked with everything we needed plus some and they even left us a bag of ice so sweet definitely recommend we will be back again

Bill & Dan’s place is lovely. While you are obviously staying in a RV, as soon as you walk out the door or look out the window there are beautiful expansive grounds that they have created. Flowers abound, lots of green grass and trees and places to sit in the yard and on the deck. A beautiful hot tub is made available to guests and it was a lovely way to unwind from the day of touring all that the area has to often.. Bill & Dan are great hosts and very accommodating to anything you might need. They pay so much attention to detail that it is quite impressive!
If you are on the tall side, it may be challenging to be in a bed that is shorter than normal size, as the RV designed beds are.
We both enjoyed our stay there and really appreciated how much there is to do in the area. It is centrally located between Traverse City and some of the things to do a little bit east and north, so it’s a great location.
It’s very quiet and peaceful on their property, and it is nice to be away from some of the hustle and bustle of Traverse City.
If you happen to have an EV, there’s an EV charging station 10 minutes away that works really well.
Definitely recommend Bill & Dan‘s place!
