4 nights at Arcala Bunkhouse

This cozy cabin in the woods was exactly the peaceful getaway we needed. The starry nights, crackling campfires, and quiet walks through the forest with our dog made the stay unforgettable. The cabin itself was warm, welcoming, and full of thoughtful touches, especially the welcoming basket waiting for us. The propane gas fireplace kept us perfectly comfortable on the cold nights, and the entire space felt like a true retreat. We loved having time to relax, recharge, and enjoy nature together. This stay was a much-needed mental health reset, and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

3 nights at Elm Valley

We had a fantastic stay at Site 1 – Elm Valley (hosted by Jayne). From the moment we arrived, Jayne greeted us warmly, offered firewood, and helped guide our 22-ft travel trailer into the perfect spot. The site was level, flat, with water & electric hookups—just what we needed. We were among the last campers of the season and feel grateful we were able to secure such a great location. The location was very convenient—several wineries were just a short drive away—making it easy to explore when time permitted. We were in town for the Iceman Cometh Challenge mountain bike race and enjoyed chatting with Jayne about the event and her family/friends who’ve done it. Upon departure, her husband stopped by to ensure everything was good—it wrapped up the stay perfectly. Jayne is exactly the kind of host you hope for: friendly, attentive but unobtrusive. We’ll absolutely plan to return—maybe next summer to make fuller use of those nearby wineries. Highly recommended.

Weekend Trip to Arcala Bunkhouse

This place is awesome!!! The cabin is so cozy and it is clear that a lot of thought has been put into this stay (extra lights, lighters, charcoal for the grill, multiple chairs, condiments, lots of wood etc.). My dog and I were nice and toasty when it got down below freezing. The outhouse was spotless. The fire pit and yard were so charming at night. Lots of trails to walk. The hosts were fantastic and treat you like family. I will be going again

3 nights at CUT RIVER CABIN AT HIGGINS LAKE

Beautiful setting, and a well-equipped rustic cabin! Jeremey was incredibly helpful answering our questions ahead of the trip, and made sure everything was ready for our arrival. So peaceful and relaxing! Our husky Tala loved being able to explore. We loved the covered deck, the sauna, and being able to use the canoes on the crystal clear river. Can’t wait to visit again during different times of the year!

Weekend Trip to HillCrest

Hillcrest (Lake View) has a beautiful view. Chose this for a fall getaway. Great location central to Traverse City (asylum tour) and Boyne Mountain (Skybridge). Hosts are friendly and Avion RV was a cool experience, clean and well-stocked with everything you need. Hope to visit again in the summer to experience Torch Lake, which is very close to this.

Jeannie & I loved Phil & Stormy's Place. It was quiet this time of year, and we were lucky to be the only folks at their Camp. They definitely had made it their own, and have great amenities. Firewood & Firepit, 30 amp service, a water hose , picnic table & dry kindling.. 2 Porta Potties on site, and a RV cleanout. Great Wooden games around the site for folks enjoyment. Phil is a world renown Game maker who makes Games and interesting items, which he makes in his shop on site. Sends it all around the world. Besides meeting Phil and Chit chatting, because we are both Hip Camp Hosts, Phil gave us a tour of his Shop and woodworking area. Pretty impressive. He was a great host, and is Passionate about Kubb, a Yard game that was originally played overseas, but because of Phi, brought the game to the US. He actually has his own playing field. We plan on visiting again, as we loved the vibe

We absolutely loved our stay here! The scenery was stunning—fall colors everywhere and peaceful views in every direction. It was incredibly quiet and relaxing, perfect for a weekend getaway. The campsite were large, clean, and perfectly level, which made setup a breeze. You can really tell the hosts take pride in keeping the place beautiful and well-maintained. We’ve done a lot of fall camping, and this was easily one of our favorites. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Carole and Art are two of the sweetest, most accommodating hosts you'll ever hope to meet! The amount of care and effort they put into making you feel comfortable is second to none. Like I told them, they thought of everything! Even the doggos and kiddos are made to feel welcome. There were even games for children of all ages to play - outdoors and in. For me, it was a solo trip. Carole and Art's property is so quiet and relaxing and was just what the Mental Health Professional ordered! I highly recommend the Arcala Bunkhouse for individuals, couples, groups, and families alike. The property has hills all around and is adjacent to a tree farm. Everything is so beautiful! I took so many pictures of the landscape and wildlife. I shared the atypical ones in order to not repeat the pictures that were already posted. Thank you Carole and Art for being amazing hosts and making my weekend truly memorable!

Weekend Trip to Rocky Top "Preserve"

We loved our time at Rocky Top (and Pop’s Pride). The property was beautiful to explore and the cabin the perfect bit of rustic charm. It was such a magic little spot that helped us reconnect with nature and relax for a weekend. We’ve passed by the property so many times and are so happy to have stayed here. Even stopped at the Rocky Top Farm Store and got some apple butter on our way out! We brought our own lights which was lucky (because the solar lights didn’t work) and the bed seemed a bit damp from all the rain we got. Heidi left some extra blankets due to the crisp fall weather which was so sweet. We hope to be back next year!

Carole and Art met with us and showed us exactly where we were going, it is definitely not on any main roads. It was beautiful and private. The hosts were very nice and helpful. The outdoor shower was super cool to use. The trails are well maintained. We got to see plenty of deer and even a bobcat! We will definitely be returning!

Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana. The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk. Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor. Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries. There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes. A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive. We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay. We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. We have 11 acres, currently with a really ugly old farm home on site that is a rehab in progress, but a beautiful property. We are located a few miles from Torch Lake and walking distance to a public access on Elk lake. Close proximity to Elk Rapids, Alden, Williamsburg, and Traverse City and all those areas have to offer. We have water fill and a dump station on site, and we are working on electrical hook ups. Our property has many open areas to park, some very level, some not. We have woods and a large hill area with lots of birds and wildlife to see. We can accommodate large rigs, small rigs, and all in between. Pets are welcome but must be leashed as we have two of our own dogs. If you have any questions or needs, do not hesitate to ask, we will always try to accommodate. We were previous Harvest Hosts at our prior property, we have spent time as camp hosts, and have travelled the country in our RV and like to think we have a great understanding of what makes a nice camp experience and we will do everything we can to make sure that is the case, cheers!
