Hosting May 22 - mid/Oct My husband Dan and I purchased this property 6 years ago and have totally restored the land, home and barn from its prior condition. Consequently, if you view the various on line satellite images be advised they are out of date and do not reflect the love we have put into our sanctuary. We are retired and live here with our two standard poodles Mila and Indiana.
The property is 5 acres, mostly meadow with a maple grove as well as a wooded ravine. We have planted various fruit trees, cherries, apples, peach as well as pears. We also have a small grape and berry patch which is next to our vintage trailer. There is also an old abandoned trail through the forest that makes for a nice walk.
Our location is convenient to Traverse City, Alden, Belaire, Kalkaska as well as the equestrian center and the casino in Williamsburg. There are various places to eat/drink within close proximity as well as places to purchase fuel, groceries and liquor.
Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are a convenient drive where you can visit the many vineyards, orchards, shops and enjoy the beautiful vistas of the lake and bays, or shop some of the unique stores and galleries.
There are many off road vehicle and bike trails that are not far away as well. As well as boating on beautiful Torch Lake and the chain of lakes.
A day trip to Sleeping Bear dunes is well worth the drive.
We would be happy to make suggestions on activities, dining, entertainment during your stay.
We currently have three sites which are on seperate areas of the property. Lake View site is a Vintage 1985 Avion travel trailer which as been completely renovated with all new systems. It is located with a western view of Lake Skegemog and next to our grape and berry patch in our back yard. Maple Grove site is a new Coachmen Catalina Destination series RV. It is located on the front side of the property next to the maple tree grove. Lavender Lane is located in front of our barn with a view of our small orchard and the forest, close to the walking trail. All our sites are fully outfitted with quality linens, towels, dishes and cooking equipment. All of the units have Air Conditioned and heat.
New this year is our chicken coop and run. We (Bill) has always wanted chickens.

Welcome to the Hemlock Ridge Homestead! This custom log home built in the early 2000's was a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Our family lives here year round and absolutely love it. These sites are on a seasonal road so travel in and out can be impeded at times due to weather or external forces, such as tree falls, wash outs, etc. This is a self sufficient homestead in the making. Our garden has progressed greatly, and our fruit tree orchards are starting to produce. The free range chickens are fun and quirky, offering farm fresh eggs. We just opened our second site, the Prairieview Chalet 2024 summer. Both sites offer great amenities. The Acorn Retreat cabin includes a hot tub, gas weber grill and other amenities. The boujee outhouse is shared by both sites and is cleaned regularly.
The new Prairieview Chalet is an exceptional adventurers haven! It has all the things you want after a day(s) out in the wilderness, with amenities like a hot shower, fully stocked kitchen, linens and more.
Our property reflects our love of the land and space. We are always making improvements, such as the timber framed chicken coop. We now have a ping pong table for our guests, and still offer farm fresh eggs.
Our motto is to make every place better than we found it and hope our guests will do the same.

Neebish Island is remote. Access is via a car ferry from Barbeau, MI, and cell reception is limited—plan for a digital detox. You'll need to research and plan around the car ferry schedule, which is limited to a few runs per/day.
This is a great spot for campers, vanlifers, paddlers, and freighter fans who appreciate quiet, history, and open sky. Interior access to the historical house is not included, but the land is yours to enjoy.

Dan and Bill’s place was the perfect home base for our Up North getaway! We explored Kalkaska, Eastport/Barnes Park, Bellaire and Charlevoix, then came back to beautiful sunsets and plenty of space for our 5-year-old to run around.
They’ve truly thought of everything, from cold water and ice waiting for us to plenty of towels and all the little things you might need. They were incredibly helpful and accommodating, even checking on us after a rainy night to make sure the camper wasn’t leaking. (It wasn’t)
We especially loved the balance of privacy with friendly faces nearby. We really enjoyed chatting with both Dan and Bill and felt completely at home. We’ll absolutely be back, and will probably bring friends next time!

This park was so upscale, well kept, and offered a lot of activities. My family and I stayed in one of the lodges which had ample room for us. The accommodations were clean and offered the comforts we typically look for and enjoy when we go out camping - like a shower with good pressure and hot water. The grill and fire pit on the side of the lodge was a great space for us to relax.
We didn't get to use the pool, but we certainly took advantage of the playground, the jumping pads, and did some gem stone sifting as my kid is on a big rock kick.
This park is minutes from Petoskey the city and state park. We used one day to trip up to Mackinac Island. If you adventure, make sure to clock in a few days here because there is so much to do.
The stairs up to the loft are a bit steep so it required a bit of watching when our kid or dog went up and down the stairs.

Just when you think the access road can go no further, you emerge onto a dramatic, private site within spitting distance of a pristine private beach. Didn’t have time to enjoy the sauna, but I can imagine plunging in the surf after a good heat soak. Clean, functional site and attentive owners. We would definitely go back!

Great camp spot on the beach. The sauna was wonderful and there was a nice fire ring setup on the beach.
Communication with Eli was great and it is obvious he loves his spot. We will be back.

Weekend Trip to HillCrest
One of the best (if not the best) experiences we've had with hosted stays! My husband and I stayed at Hillcrest for 2 nights and didn't want to leave. The property is stunning; it's obvious from the moment you arrive that so much intentional care has been put into curating a beautiful and peaceful environment. Dan and Bill are both warm, welcoming, and easy to communicate with. From a detailed tour of the grounds and unit itself to local recommendations , all our needs were met during our stay. It's in a great location to several towns and lakes nearby, or just hanging out on the property itself for a quiet getaway. We hope to visit again in the future and would truly recommend to anyone.

The camp site were very clean and well designed. Easy in and out with a large 5 th wheel camper. Staff was great to talk too and deal with. The camp ground was very well maintained. The only issue we had was the the noise from the high way could be heard through out the night .

Our family stayed with our pop-up camper in early August and it was a beautiful campsite! The beach access was wonderful with a huge beach firepit made the evenings everything we were looking for. The sauna was perfect to steam up and then run into the lake for the classic Finn-sauna experience. We would certainly return!

Amazing stay! Bill and Dan have thought of every detail! The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The location is central to many hikes, nature preserves, and beaches. We slept great and were able to fully relax!

Camping on the beach and having a sauna right there was wonderful. Adjacent properties were closer than expected but ended up not factoring into a feeling of seclusion. One thing that we thought would have been nice to have was a table/picnic table. Otherwise this was great spot.

Weekend Trip to Dome Haven Campground
I had my camp themed bachelorette here and it was so so fun! The domes were clean and well stocked and so cute and comfortable. The host was lovely and checked up on us to make sure we were having a good time. It was so nice!
