Learn about the Gateway to Acadia: We now have water! A 300’ well and a hand pump make for some ice cold water onsite, It’s a little rusty in color but great for washing dishes and bathing. Space and privacy! 3 acres to yourself, sweeping views and sunsets including a glimpse of Cadillac Mountain from across the Bay. 12x12 cozy shelter! No electricity in the Timber Tent, but there are power outlets on the electric pole at the beginning of the driveway. Feel free to bring your tent, camper or stay in the cabin.  Room for 4 and a few more on the floor of the Timber Tent.   There is a small futon inside. This site is 10 miles from Acadia National Park (Schoodic side) where there are mountain bike and hiking trails. Want to swim and kayak in freshwater? We had the best time at this site. The views were absolutely incredible. We had better sunset views from the campsite than we even would in Acadia. Having the water, electric plug, and bathroom on site was so helpful, too. We ended up tent camping, but the little house was such an added perk, too for storage, spending time together, etc. I can’t recommend this spot enough!!

I can’t say enough great things about this spot! My dog and I stayed for two and a half months and easily could have stayed twice as long. -The location is perfect — tucked in a residential area that offers plenty of privacy and peace, yet surrounded by friendly neighbors so it never feels isolated. You’re close to everything: most Acadia trails on Mount Desert Island are within a 25-minute drive, with many even closer (10-15 minutes). Bar Harbor is just 10 minutes away, offering great restaurants, shops, boat tours, and more. -The Wi-Fi is fast and reliable — I work remotely full-time from my rig and never had a single issue, even with constant Zoom and Teams video meetings. -Scott, the host, is fantastic — friendly, responsive, and genuinely welcoming, with excellent local recommendations. -It’s also a dog-friendly spot. There’s plenty of grassy space for short walks, and the lawn was mowed weekly, which I really appreciated. -The full hookups were in excellent condition and worked perfectly. There’s even a garden hose attached to the water line for convenience. -Parking was a breeze — the site is spacious and easy to maneuver into no matter the size of your rig. I live in a 30-foot Airstream and had no trouble backing in at all. Overall, this was one of my favorite stays — private, convenient, well-maintained, and hosted by someone who truly cares. Highly recommend!

You can tell Leketa and Hillary put a lot of thought into the small touches — it made all the difference. All I can say is wow!! I booked the camp for 4 days but was really only thinking I would stay for 2-3 and thought...what the heck, if I like it I could stay the 4 days. By day 2, I never wanted to leave. The place was incredible. The stars at night were so amazing that I didn't watch any TV or get on my phone the entire time. I can't wait to go again next year!! The camp was perfect!!! Just enough roughing it to feel like I was camping but also just enough glamp to not make me feel like I was full on camping. Absolutely perfect!!

We absolutely loved our stay here! The cabin was cozy with everything we needed for cooking right on hand. Super easy to get to, which made the trip more relaxing. The location was prime, about 100 yards of waterfront to enjoy, with sunny mornings and shady afternoons that were perfect for hanging out. Our two dogs had the best time. We’d absolutely come back!

We loved tenting here! Our site was private and serene. Porta potty is very clean and a short walk from the sites. We loved spending time on the pond and being woken up by the loon calls. As other reviewers have mentioned, the doughnuts are amazing!

Hillside Campsite South is incredibly convenient for anyone wanting access to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor! There are two sites next to each other that are spacious and level with easy access in and out. The host Scott is very helpful and quick to respond to any questions. The site itself is actually part of a hotel in Bar Harbor, so you have access to the laundry facilities and pool at the hotel. Some folks may not like that the water pressure can vary (not sure if that's dependent on if the neighbors were using water, but there were times when the pressure would drop very low) and garbage needs to be taken to a dumpster about 5 minutes away (not a big deal). Otherwise, you can walk or bike into Hull's Cove on sidewalks and even access the Carriage roads of Acadia! Highly recommend this site!

Stuart Little’s dream house is an off-grid cabin on the edge of the woods, in the backyard of our home. The cabin is perfect for people who are camping, but want a little more accommodation. It has two futons that can turn into double beds, table and chairs, small porch, outhouse, and a picnic bench. Bring your sleeping bag and camp stove, and you are all set! There are also places to pitch a tent, if desired. We are just a mile down the road from where EB White lived, the setting of Stuart Little's dream house (our yard) gives a glimpse into some real Maine living: Boats and boat trailers, a rambling garden, and often a free pile at the end of the driveway. *Note: There is no heat. *Note: There is no kitchen. camp stove + fuel can be rented for $5/night *Note: Please bring a sleeping bag. Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. We are now recognized by the World Wildlife Fund as a Certified Wildlife Habitat. We have trails on the property that are designed for contemplative walks, along with several benches where you can sit in quiet enjoyment, undisturbed by human intrusions. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsites, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, have been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. For 2025 we are opening a new site. It is a little more secluded, 2-3 minutes further from the road in a very quiet wooded niche, at the edge of the marsh. It is also a little smaller tent (10' diameter) situated on a platform, and a little more "camping" than "glamping". We are pricing the stay there according. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare these relatively accessible sites. We believe that they still offer a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. Turn your time away into a transformative and healing experience, as you connect more deeply to the natural world. We hope that you will enjoy the experience of Turtle Marsh as much as we do.

Part of an early 19th century farming community which faded into history well over a hundred years ago. Since then, it has been used exclusively for hunting, trapping and timber harvest. Other then a few scattered seasonal hunting camps, this is a privately owned uninhabited / undeveloped tract of land on the Eastern banks of the Seabasticook River watershed. Learn more about this land: Primitive Tent Camping within a mixed wood forest. Located ten miles East of Waterville, Maine or Six miles West of Unity, Maine. The Sebasticook Millennium Green is a terraced 207 acre forest with over 18 miles of trails. Vehicle access is via a seasonal town road with parking a short walk from campsites. There are four unimproved sites with picnic tables and fire rings that will only accommodate one tent. These sites are accessible with a regular vehicle and located a short distance from the marginally maintained (dirt) town road. We try to provide firewood for the sites when possible and campers are welcome to gather downed wood to use. There is a fifth site (ridge) that is a mile hike through the woods or accessible via 4wd vehicle, this site has room for four tents, has a large firepit, three picnic tables and an outhouse.

Bicycles can be brought on the passenger ferries and are a great way to get around and further explore the island. Our camp is on the site of our former organic farm called Cabin Creek Farm overlooking the ocean (a tidal estuary called the pool), where we grew flowers, herbs and veggies.
