We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. Just 2 miles off Rte. One our location is quiet and perfect for exploring the midcoast of Maine - a short drive to many favorite places!
The cabin is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 78+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay! Bring your own towels and maybe some candles. Plenty of board games, and maps of our local hikes and places to explore. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! You'll enjoy the screened porch in all kinds of weather.

The cabin was homie, it had everything we needed. Id say the main bed was a hit small for two larger people, could be a bit bigger. It was so nice to have free water the two jugs came in handy like crazy. It was perfect description of a cabin in the woods.

Really nice stay in the Maine woods. Quiet and private. Centralish location for Augusta, Boothbay, and Wiscasset, all of which we wanted to visit.
Hookups were all great and the water pressure was good. Only issue we had was that the 50-amp electrical connection is in a power box with a narrow space for the cord. Totally fine if you have a 50-amp power cord, but we needed to use a 50a-to-30a converter and our dogbone style one proved too wide to fit in the cable area. We were able to pickup a different style of adapter at Walmart and that worked great.
Met a friendly neighbor who took us out on the lake in her boat, so got a free tour of the area too! Communication with the host was fast and easy.

Serenity Pines was a nice spot to relax at. It was a good location for exploring the area. We appreciated the electric, water and sewer hook ups making it more comfortable. Most importantly, our dog loved cooling off in the lake!

Lovely little cabin! It was great to get away from our home routine and live without electricity or running water. We stayed at the end of July and while it got hot on one of the days the cabin cooled down really quickly with the windows open in the evening. Lots of fun things to do nearby. It was a bit buggy when we were walking around the property so bug spray was necessary. But the cabin had everything we needed and Barbara was very responsive with anything that came up!

1 night at Ferncrest Acadia
Ferncrest Acadia is so special! It’s a brand new place, and they’ve absolutely nailed it. The location is perfect!! Peaceful, surrounded by nature, and still super close to Acadia and all the little towns and hikes nearby.
The geodome was insanely cozy and felt so luxurious! Like the perfect mix of comfort and nature. We slept like babies and never wanted to leave!
And the stargazing? Out of this world. We laid outside for hours just watching the sky—I've never seen stars like that before. It felt totally magical.
You can even pick fresh blueberries right on the property, which was such a fun bonus. Every little detail was so thoughtful, and everything just felt easy.
We already can’t wait to come back. If you’re headed to Maine, Ferncrest Acadia needs to be on your list!!

Weekend Trip to The cabin at White Duck Farm
This cabin is fantastic! We had an amazing short stay. Burgers on the camp stove followed by games on the screened-in porch made for a night we will surely feel nostalgic for in the coming years. The central location offers easy access to both lakes and the ocean. Most of our weekend was spent at a wedding, but if/when we return, we would bring our kayaks or take advantage of the canoe rental. There are many beautiful and calm paddling spots close by it was a bummer we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy them.

Extremely quiet at night. Loved hearing the coyotes and the owl as well as seeing the deer several times on our drive in and out of the private road.

Perfectly appointed off grid cabin, spacious and welcoming feeling. Be prepared that it's very buggy around the cabin and do enjoy the screened in porch. The canoe and nearby access areas are an idyllic scene and activity. The hosts were genuinely friendly. We plan to revisit.
