Close to mountain bike and dirt bike trails, a half dozen lakes, hiking trails, huckleberry and morel spots, but also a 30 minute drive to downtown CDA or Sandpoint for dining, drinks, nightlife, shopping and more. Here’s your permission slip to disappear for a bit. This is 14 acres of private, undeveloped forest land at the base of Bald Mountain in northeastern Washington. No water, no toilet, no electricity—just trees, creeks, and whatever the heck you need to work out with nature. There are no designated campsites. You’ll choose your own spot—flat, forested, tucked-away, or by the seasonal creek. Some areas are cut away just enough to help keep the ticks out of your underwear (you’re welcome), but this is still very much wild land. You’ll find: • Towering evergreens • Snowberries, serviceberries, and wild grasses. Moss covered rocks and perhaps a spot we have yet to discover. • Mosquitoes (don’t say we didn’t warn you) • A whole lot of space to wander, both literally and figuratively This site is best suited for tent campers, car campers, backpackers, and solitude seekers. Artists, writers, and wandering weirdos are especially welcome. Trailers UNDER 22 feet only. Because of the primitive terrain we are not set up for anything over 22 feet. Please do NOT BRING anything larger. We truly appreciate it. Camper vans would do well at Primitive Acres. The land is remote, about 30 minutes from Spokane and 10 minutes from Loon Lake, and you likely won’t see another soul—but there are neighboring parcels nearby, each about 20 acres in size. You’ll feel alone, but not abandoned. No generators, no parties, no pets off leash. Pack it in, pack it out. No fires unless permitted. This isn’t a resort, but it’s definitely a reset. Come prepared. Come curious. Come undone, if you need to. WARNING: wild animals do roam through here. We ask that you watch your pets and keep them on leash for their safety. The neighbors also have a friendly old dog who likes to wander.

Our campground is also our Tree Farm. Situated approximately 13 miles from Spokane Valley in the community of Newman Lake. If you're seeking outdoor adventures, relaxation, or a mix of both, our location offers a wonderful blend of experiences, it has the feeling of being remote while being close to civilization. Beautiful, spacious, and secluded campsites on 76 acres. We are surrounded by trees where it is very quiet with the exception of the wildlife, the distant call of the trains. These are dry sites without electricity, sewer hookups or dump. Potable water is available. It directly borders over 890 acres of land owned by inland paper company that can be utilized for hiking. Campsites are surrounded by forested area allowing campers to submerge into a peaceful nature setting and there is plenty of privacy between each camp site. Wildlife like deer, turkeys, and an occasional moose are common. One can walk through the woods or just sit and listen to nature all around. You will find many lakes just a short distance away. Coeur d'Alene is 16 miles away. Sandpoint is about 55 minutes away. Silverwood Theme Park is about 40 minutes. There is lots to do here from fishing and hunting to boating and skiing. Great location and Marisa is a wonderful host. Directions were clear and clear and were greeted with a welcome gift when we arrived. We were towing our 20 ft travel trailer towed by a Toyota Tacoma and we stuck out on the sidewalk a bit (about 40 ft total) so we unhooked and parked in the street which was very easy. Would definitely stay again, a nice 15 minute walk to the heart of things.

These hosts deserve 5 stars for excellent communications! We booked in late (8pm-ish) and arrived after dark. They were so helpful with ensuring we had throw directions through text, as we were concerned about not having data or service, coming from Canada.They’re such lovely people with an amazing property! We were so stoked on the beautiful valley view from the site and private outhouse that was very clean and didn’t smell… at all!! The walking trails connecting the site to the sunset trail and communal space are well maintained and a beautiful taste of nature and the property has to offer. We had so much privacy and felt well looked after. We will definitely be returning! <3

Fantastic spot. It was quiet, private, shaded, and had everything we needed for our stay. The hosts were friendly and communicative. We loved the option of fresh eggs and the propane fire pit. The location couldn't have been better. Multiple lakes are a short distance away, hiking trails, and abundant nature in all directions. This was my first HipCamp experience and I will definitely be back. So, so much more enjoyable than a crowded campground.

Weekend Trip to Zaltana Retreat

We spent a whole weekend camping up on zaltana retreat and it was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken! The views up there are incredible & the hosts are more than willing to help out as much as possible (when needed) to make the experience even better! We needed wood, they had some and proceeded to give it to us for free because we didn’t use all of it. Gave us a cool swim spot to check out. The outhouse is probably the cleanest one I’ve ever been in. The hospitality was just the best. SO welcoming. They really are just great people wanting to share their beautiful piece of land and I 10/10 recommend you go check it out! We will definitely be back that’s for sure!

This is a wonderful little spot that was just perfect as a home base for our adventures. We stayed for 8 nights and did amazing nature centric activities like huckleberry hunting, lake swims, and mountain hikes. The site was clean, level, and the hosts were great. The site is both private and well situated. Highly recommend.

My group of 4 went tent camping for a couple nights and had a wonderful stay! Quiet and private, good views and lots of bird watching. The open air deck was very nice for hanging out for a few hours when our campsite got a little too toasty for us. It had a nice breeze, comfy chairs, games/coloring, and it was fun watching the hummingbirds. The last night, it rained and we got some gorgeous misty morning weather and views. Hosts sold us a good size bundle of firewood and we're generally very accommodating and inviting. Thanks so much for a great stay, we hope to be back!
