Cozy Freedom at Earthperks Farm

9 sites · RVs, Tents8 acres · Ormond Beach, FL
Welcome to Cozy Freedom at Earthperks Farm, where the convenience of town meets the serenity of nature in perfect harmony amid the beauty of Florida's pine forests. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of city life, our agritourism destination offers a unique camping experience that allows you to immerse yourself in the natural splendor of the Sunshine State, yet a direct drive of just 11 miles to the Atlantic Ocean. Our camping sites are nestled within a pristine pine flatwoods ecosystem, where towering pines create a canopy overhead, dappling the forest floor with patches of sunlight. Each campsite is thoughtfully spaced to offer privacy and tranquility, allowing you to unwind and reconnect with nature. Awake to the melodic trill of songbirds greeting the dawn, and start your day with a leisurely hike in Tiger Bay State Forest nature trails directly connected behind the farm. Meander through the pine forest, pausing to admire the delicate wildflowers that carpet the forest floor and the occasional glimpse of wildlife darting among the trees. Historically, Cozy Freedom was occupied by the Timucuan Indians who hunted the forest and swamp land. Efforts to preserve and celebrate Timucuan heritage continue, as descendants and scholars work to honor the contributions of this ancient and resilient people. More recent history of the property included a plant nursery and beekeeping location. Our agritourism destination offers a journey of discovery through the cultivation of produce, blueberries, ginger, turmeric, bamboo, flowers, and more. Our guided tours provide a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate process of growing and harvesting these remarkable crops, from planting the seeds to nurturing the plants through each stage of growth. Resident bats help with the mosquitos. Wind down in the evening by walking and meditating through our 11-circuit walking labyrinth. Feel the inner peace, calm your nerves, be refreshed, celebrate! What else do you need to achieve cozy freedom?! Day trips to St. Augustine, Orlando, Cape Canaveral and Ocala.  Visit local Old Florida sites nearby, including Bulow Plantation Ruins, Tomoka State Park, and Barberville Pioneer Settlement. Take a swim at any of the crystal clear springs within less than an hour or borrow our 2 kayaks and paddle down the Tomoka River. Wintertime is peaceful and ideal for camping in Florida. We do have some nights that drop into the 30's, but most days are perfect to be outside. Summers are hot and wet and mosquitos will drive you inside from mid-June through to the end of August. Enjoy staying put on the farm or safely leaving your belongings while visiting the sights in the area.  Someone is always nearby onsite, but privacy is respected. Property is situated on a thoroughfare between Ocala and Ormond Beach with audible traffic during the day, so not ideal for individuals seeking absolute silence.

Private sites RV camping near Winter Park guide

Overview

Not far from Orlando, Winter Park may not house any theme parks—but it has plenty of actual parks, with green spaces galore. Here, nature’s very own kingdom takes the form of sunny skies and the six, canal-connected lakes that wind through the city. Drive east, and you’ll reach the Atlantic Ocean in no time, or hit Orange County’s equally worthwhile state forests and parks. Beyond Winter Park’s natural beauty, the city is all about art, meaning camping in Winter Park provides access to both cultural and natural attractions, so you never have to choose between the two.

Where to go

Charles H. Bronson State Forest

Drive east of Winter Park, toward the Atlantic Ocean. Before you hit the shores, you’ll reach Charles H. Bronson State Forest. You can hike, fish, and ride horses all throughout the park, where trails range in both difficulty and ecosystem. When you’re ready to turn in for the night, head to your backcountry campsite—but not before exploring St. Johns River.

Around The Lakes

Calling all naturalists. In the opposite direction, the wetlands around Lake Apopka harbor local wildlife, flowers, and plants. To see even more of the natural landscape, stop at Lake Apopka North Shore and explore the marshes and their bountiful habitats. If that’s still not enough of a freshwater fix, check-in to a campsite further north to experience the neighboring lakes.

Rock Springs Run State Reserve

Open year-round, Rock Springs Run State Reserve lets you choose your own adventure. Everyone from mountain bikers to bird watchers can find the perfect campsite, not far from Winter Park. You can canoe over the Wekiva River to reach your backcountry campsite. Or, you can horse around—and camp with a horse near Wekiwa Springs State Park. If you’d rather camp at a traditional campground, you can alternatively book classic campsites with water and electric hookups, grills, and picnic tables.

When to go

Don’t let the name fool you; Winter Park is all about warm-weather activities, which happen year round. Plan your camping trip around your preferences. Summer in Central Florida can feel unbearably hot, so if you want long hikes on difficult trails, come when the sun is at its most bearable. Winter in Winter Park may bring crowds—plan accordingly so that your only surprise is nature’s beauty.
