The cottage was extremely clean and well laid out. Literally right over the water, so the view was beautiful and oh so peaceful. We were really able to unplug. Christine’s land was the perfect place for our family trip. There was something for all of us. There was level ground and handicapped ramps so my parents felt safe walking around, comfortable bedrooms, well planned campsites for tents or RVs, and televisions and video games. The property is lovely. Sitting on the dock and watching the sunset on the Suwannee was stunning. Everyone had a wonderful time!

We absolutely adored our experience at Michael and Audrey’s guest cottage. We all felt a sense of a home away from home immediately and it only grew stronger . Welcoming hosts, welcoming land and river. The Kayak river ride with our kids and celebrating our son’s 11th birthday made for the best of memories . The fishing is very good. The outdoor kitchen was a delight to work in over the river, and to eat in the screened in porch like sitting at a favorite waterside restaurant. As close to the river as anyone could sleep. We feel like we have new family. Thank you Mike and Audrey. Just be sure to fill up your gas tank ! Such nice country. We will be back.

The farm you’re camping on is one of the last family farms remaining in Columbia County and is named Glenn Farm after DV Glenn who married Hettie Lou Niblack in the 1930’s. Over the last 150 years it has been farmed by some of the county’s oldest families such as the Niblack and Ellis families. When DV Glenn came to Florida from his farm in Cairo, GA he took over the portion of the Niblack farm that was inherited by his wife Hettie Lou. At that time he was running native Florida cattle on over 6000 acres. Unfortunately, In 1951 he was killed in a hunting accident leaving his wife with the farm and 4 children (ages 4-11). In order to survive, Hettie Lou Niblack Glenn was forced to sell 5000 acres at $25 an acre. Holding a bachelors degree from Florida State College for Women, she was able to secure a job at the University of Florida as a secretary and with the money from the land sale she was able to raise her four children. Your campsite is 1 of 4 spots (Arrowhead Sink, Dunagan’s Meadow, North Hall Pasture or Magnolia Sink). We also have a 1 bedroom Tiny home that used to be the farm office. Dunagan’s meadow is a pasture behind the old farmhouse (built in 1824), Magnolia sink and The North Hall Pasture are also on the main farm while Arrowhead Sink is on the edge of a hayfield about a mile down a dirt road. Glenn Farm is a place to come relax and experience a world that is rapidly disappearing. It is not a commercial campground.

The Property is an old Spanish land grant, originally owned by the Sanchez Family, which used to be a large cattle family in the State of Florida. Today, under our ownership since the late 40s, the Ranch has never been developed or timbered in any large measure. Original heart pine forests, oak groves, and wetlands pepper the entire tract. The land has remained largely untouched and natural, which is rare, in a state that is rapidly loosing its natural land to development. Our Ranch is more of a natural preserve than a farm, and it is our aim to share it in limited measure with the public.

We offer a complimentary shuttle service for the 5-mile downstream Aucilla River to the Gulf of Mexico trip. This can be scheduled after your check-in. Camp chairs are provided and can be used at the fire pit and along the riverbank. A public boat ramp is located within 300 yards north of the property and we have ample storage for you boat trailer during your stay. Other things to note: House rules for children staying at the cottage. We gladly accept children with the understanding that all children thirteen and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times outside the cottage due to its proximity over the river and being in a very natural wildlife environment. This is a strict requirement that will be compulsory. This is for the safety of your children while staying at the River Rise Cottage. We are pet friendly but do require that your pets are not left alone in the cottage. We have different size crates available, and these are provided at no extra charge in the event that you should leave the cottage and choose not to take your fur baby with you. There is a $50 non-refundable pet deposit fee for 1 -2 pets. A guest’s animal must not be: Out of control Unhouse broken. Left alone at the listing without prior approval.
