Welcome to Smokey Acres! This property has been in my family for decades. My Husband and I were married under the oaks and have had our share of campfires out there. Down a hidden gravel drive with wetlands on either side you will find a completely fenced in field surrounded by pine, oak, and swamp maple trees. There are two ponds located on the property both stocked with bass, bluegill, and sunfish. The front pond is home to many natural Florida wildlife and is a great location to bird watch. Located a few miles from Brooksville and the Suncoast Parkway, this quiet and peaceful setting is just 5 minutes from the parking area and trailhead for the Suncoast Trail and 10 miles from the famous Weeki Wachee Springs, where you can spend the day at the local park or float down the river with the manatees. Withlacoochee State Park and other natural preserves with trail access and kayaking are only a short distance away, and Dames Cave, Homosassa Springs, and Chasawiska Springs are all within a ~20-minute drive as well. Spending a day at the beach is easy with plenty of options along the Nature Coast. We’re also less than an hour from Tampa and Clearwater and two hours from Orlando. A perfect weekend get-away for anyone looking to “unplug,” Smokey Acres is also a great stop for those passing through the area. Our RV and Tent Campsites are located in a grassy field next to dense woods. Electric and water hookups are included in the RV/Camper sites, but not the Tent Site. All sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Our newly renovated restrooms on the property have toilets and one shower. A boardwalk takes you along the Cotee River to our two open air pavilions with several places to sit and enjoy nature. Cell phone service is not a problem, as we are not remote (although it sort of feels like we are when you are here) - we are 5 min from downtown New Port Richey, 2 minutes from groceries, gas, restaurants. This beautiful slice of Old Florida is named for the Pithlachascotee River that bends along the back side of the property. Pithlo is the Creek word meaning canoe, and chaskita means to dig or chop out, together signifying "place where canoes are chopped or dug out". Seminoles of this area used canoes dug out from the great cypress trees found along Florida rivers. From the 1980s until 2014, this property was owned by the Cotee River Lions Club. They held a popular monthly pancake breakfast fundraiser in the large pavilion along the river. We purchased this 4.9 acres of land in late 2019. It is now where we live and have a woodworking shop. It has been a magical place for us, with no shortage of wildlife, rich jungle forest, a winding narrow river, and even the occasion river otter sighting. We are grateful to all the humans who have occupied this place over the centuries before us for keeping it as nature intended it. It is our intention to do our part to conserve and protect its natural beauty as long as possible. We hope you find it to be as restful and rejuvenating as we do.

Your cabin has a full bed for two and a comfy pull out couch that will accommodate two more. The cabin is located on private property with owners and security on site, yet plenty of privacy. During the day, paddle your way to the beautiful Three Sisters Springs for a swim. You may see some manatee, turtles, and dolphins along your way! Hunter Springs is a great little park with a beach area for swimming and kayak rentals too. There are also several Diving with the manatee tours available. This is all only a short drive from camp. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, scalloping, snorkeling, kayaking, pontooning just five minutes away, or just relaxing back at the camp. Heritage Village is in town filled with many hometown eateries and shoppes. It's a great way to spend the afternoon and explore Crystal River. We have a variety of great one-of-a-kind eateries with many special events and festivals throughout the year. Conveniently located at the end of the street is a Publix, DG, Mexican restaurant, Brother's Pizza and Beef O'Brady's. Firewood is available on site. We also have brochures on all kinds of other great places you'll want to experience while staying in beautiful Crystal River! Oh, and don't forget to stop by Grandma's gift shop before you leave. Another great camping trip with my granddaughter Miya.! We have been here many times this year already! This is Miya's favorite place to camp and she really doesn't want to go anywhere else. She just loves the horses and other farm animals! .Rob and Mike are the best hosts and are so accommodating. They work hard every day on keeping the property so nice and clean and the guests comfortable. They really do go above and beyond! We really loved all the Christmas lights and decorations they put up. We hope to be back very soon! This is a great camping experience for anyone at any age and I would highly recommend it.

I can’t begin to express my gratitude to Hilary and her family for sharing this little slice of paradise with us campers. Whether it’s camping in my rv or a tent, I have fallen in-love with Smokey Acres! The campground is well kept, the amenities are awesome and its obvious the owners love their property and the campers. I was able to book an additional night while staying at the campground this weekend. I just can’t get enough! I’ve already booked for New Years as well. Thanks again for another wonderful weekend.

Tent camping in Gypsy’s designated camping area was a peaceful, quiet retreat tucked into a truly remote and charming landscape. The land feels cared for with intention and love, and the family who owns and maintains the property are genuinely wonderful, warm, and attentive. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel grounded. We loved it so much that we’re already planning to return—next time to try either the wildflower or the cabin. safe enough in the gypsy garden to bring little ones to enjoy the camping trip too

We had an awesome time at Lucky U camping for a weekend in mid-December. Rob and Mike were excellent hosts, both very responsive and hospitable on site. The ranch’s facilities (with the hosts built themselves!) were in pristine condition and well-appointed with extra towels, indoor-style plumbing and even a full camp kitchen. Our tent campsite was quiet and secluded in a nicely shaded spot. Interacting with the animals on the farm during the day was a blast. We could not recommend their camp more.

Weekend Trip to Lucky U Ranch

This camping experience was incredible! The land is beautiful and cared for, the property felt private and exclusive, yet was very easy to navigate; the roads well maintained and accessible for any vehicle. Large flat beautiful areas for multiple tents under the trees or in the open, and plenty of room to park and lay out blankets to star gaze. Rob and Mike were wonderful and available, met us at the gate and led us to our spot, showing us all the important points. The horses and mules were adorable and friendly. SO many birds to listen to when awakening, and the stars at night were incredibly bright. Bathroom area was clean, and not only stocked with shampoo and conditioners, but also coffee, creamer, and hot chocolate! We went to swim with manatees one day, but honestly could have stayed and just enjoyed the scenery just as happily. It was heaven. We missed the tour, but trust it would have been lovely as well. We will definitely return!

It’s a nice spot and convenient to everything we needed in Brooksville. The driveway in was a little intimidating because it’s narrow and we can’t back up with the rv and car in tow but we got in and we were pleasantly surprised by the place.

The driveway is very rough on the way in. A beautiful spot once you got back in where the sites were. We use a 38' travel trailer and was able to get in and out. The electric service on our site was weak but we managed. Overall a good experience.
