Flitterbug Farm is home to a collection of majestic oak trees covered in spanish moss, ferns, and flowering vines. The oak trees loom high over a glittering pond, which is great for swimming during the summer months when the water is high. Tropical fruit trees, vegetables, herbs, and flowers decorate our gardens while chickens and bees wander the land. Expect beautiful stars, local wildlife such as owls and chameleons, an outdoor shower, and a "hippie hot tub" powered by a campfire. Sunsets on Flitterbug Farm are truly epic. The land is close to 180 miles of local kayak trails (we rent kayaks!), a 10 minute drive from beautiful walking trails, and about an hour from the beach. We offer a rustic composting toilet, a heated outdoor shower, and a simple kitchen with a sink and stovetop. Note: Flitterbug Farm is in a rural, agricultural part of South Florida. The setting is peaceful, but it’s also alive with the sounds of farm life and wildlife. You may hear roosters, dogs, owls, frogs, and the usual country activity from nearby neighbors. We provide complimentary earplugs for light sleepers, and many guests find the natural soundscape part of the charm, but we want you to know what to expect.

Kelli’s land truly exceeded my expectations. What stood out the most was how peaceful and spacious everything felt. The little house and the entire property have beautiful details that reflect so much love in every corner. Beautiful oak canopies, areas with seclusion and privacy. Plenty of spots near amenities which are super pretty and convenient. Great visibility of the stars. A lot of options and flexibility to camp the way you want to camp and super nice host. Would stay on the property here over any state park/generic cookie cutter camp ground. Also the shower is really nice!

A beautiful wide-open glade with a serene pond nearby made this spot absolutely perfect. We enjoyed a small fire right by our tent and camped beneath gorgeous trees that offered welcome shade as the day warmed up. The outdoor kitchen was great for cooking, and the firepit added to the classic camping experience. With virtually no light pollution, the night sky was incredible, stars everywhere. Trina, the host, couldn't have been kinder and even shared some fascinating history about the land. It's and ideal place to unwind and immerse yourself in nature while still being conveniently close to groceries and other essentials. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be returning.

I really enjoyed Trina's place; I loved that she let my dog Bandit, play ball off leash. I think Bandit liked her too because he was right behind her "he normally doesn't leave my site" anyway you are provided with the necessities, a 2-burner propane stove, sink where you wash your dishes, she even filters the drinking water and puts it in a glass jug." how sweet is that" there is an out-house, oh and if you want to soak under the stars, there is an old cast-iron tub, you get to experience the way they did it back in the old days, by building a fire under the tub.! " hot tub "and a fire pit where you can hang out and meet new friends. let's not forget the shower also under the stars. " don't worry you have some privacy there" anyway it was my first hipcamp, Bandit and I had fun. stop by the Flitterbug Farm and tell Trina Norma says hi.

Super cute homestead with good vibes all around. A communal setting with a compost toilet, a shower, water, kitchen, etc. We camped with our 2 dogs and parked right by our site which was nice. Lots of roosters and dogs in the surrounding areas, but the site was pretty peaceful with a nice big tree to pitch our tent under!

Weekend Trip to Serenity Acres Glamping Retreat

What a mesmerizing weekend get away. I'll start by saying that A.J was very responsive to all my questions (and I had many); he was very informative and understanding to all my concerns before getting into the property. The place was just so beautiful and peaceful that we decided not to leave the property at all. We walked around and found a nice pond with a "teenage" alligator; we named him "Mr lonely" because well, he was lonely... lol During the morning, we woke up early to see the sunrise, cooked breakfast in the grill, and sat in the hammocks enjoying the lovely scenery and tranquil atmosphere that this place brings. During afternoon hours, we walked around exploring the property; we saw wild rabbits, possums, beautiful butterflies, and of course, “Mr. Lonely; we sat by the pond for a while enjoying the beauty of nature. In the evening, we cooked dinner, sat by the fire pit, made s'mores, enjoyed the clear skies and the weather. Lastly, our dog was in heaven! He ran and wondered around all over the place. We will definitely be back to this lovey unique place.

I had a great night of camping at Taylor and Beth place. It was easy to find, quiet, and well maintained. Many big trees for shade. Electric and water hookup worked without any issue. The horses were cool. And flush toilet and hot showers always a plus! It’s about 25 minutes to the Venice dog beach which is a little drive but totally worth it according to my dogs.

Super cute little vintage camper! Their assortment of trees are beautiful and you MUST get a bottle of the cherry juice that they offer! Definitely bring some gallons of water because the well water smells like eggs. The pool is refreshing and the quietness is super pleasant 🌴 🧘🏼‍♀️

Where to go

Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park

Cape Coral offers beaches, parks, or islands—and, sometimes, all three at once. Spend a day at Charlotte Harbor Preserve State Park: one of Florida’s largest state parks. You can bring your dog to the pet-friendly park and start your camping trip with a leisurely hike. Cool down afterward by kayaking at the Cape Haze Aquatic Preserve. On your way back inland, stop at Port Charlotte Beach Park for a picnic.

Hop Along the Islands

If you want to camp as close to the Gulf as possible, take your pick of islands. Rent an RV or tent campsite on Sanibel Island or Captiva Island to get up close and personal with Florida’s beaches. Even closer to Cape Coral, Pine Island is the largest island on the Gulf Coast. Campers will have plenty of room to explore various nature preserves.

Sirenia Vista Park

Who needs an aquarium when you have nature? Cape Coral sits on the coast, so you’re never too far from the water and its residents. Sirenia Vista Park lies just northwest of Cape Coral. Kayakers can spot manatees straight from their kayaks, while birdwatchers should look up, in addition to out. As a habitat for Florida’s ospreys, the park is a birdwatcher’s dream.

When to go

Hurricanes have been known to tear through Southwest Florida. For peace of mind, head to Cape Coral outside of the summer months. Because Cape Coral sits right on the coast, late fall through mid-spring is your safest bet. Winter, however, may bring more crowds, so shoulder season is optimal for both weather and people. You’ll be able to enjoy the area’s beaches, views, and campsites—with a reduced risk of heavy winds and rain.
