This site is on an 1889 Homestead property located West of Denver and East of Golden. The camping space is a 1/3 acre field adjacent to a barn and barn-yard with goats and chickens who love to interact with people. It is 15 minutes from Red Rocks park / amphitheater and walking/biking distance to two scenic lakes/parks (Sloans lake and Crown Hill). There are multiple neighborhood restaurants, bars and a beer garden also in walking and biking distance in the communities of Edgewater, Wheat Ridge, Lakewood and Denver. You can also walk across the street to a bus stop which will take you to East to downtown Denver, West to Golden, connects with the Light rail, airport and points in between. Now it is enveloping your restful night under the starry sky of Colorado. The space offers you a coffee maker, a water kettle, water dispenser, BBQ and electricity. You will enjoy the delightful back side view of the famous Hogback mountain.
Just a few steps away from your campsite you will find our bath house with a clean portable toilet, hot shower and hand sink. You also will find a fridge inside, where you can keep your refreshments and your food fresh and cool. It is entirely made from reclaimed materials and it adds glamor and luxury to your glamping experience! To minimize our environmental impact, we use a greywater system. The liquid soap provided is a diluted, biodegradable formula that nourishes our garden as it drains. While it may feel lighter than conventional soap, rest assured it's gentle on both your skin and the environment.
We do our best to provide many of the comforts of a home for your "glamping" experience but make sure you are prepared to stay in the great outdoors which includes bugs and it is still camping. If you are afraid of bugs or occasional spiders this might not be for you. We cannot control the changes that both weather and the surrounding environment may cause. Although we provided an extra blanket and the tent has mosquito nets, we encourage bringing bug spray, warm clothes, flash lights, extra drinking water and other items you might need to make your stay pleasant. Please be aware of the weather and plan to dress accordingly. The bed is equipped with a heated mattress bed.

Welcome to our charming 2-acre meadow nestled in East Boulder. Just minutes from town - near bike trails, shops and restaurants. A great pitstop on your way to or from the mountains - or base camp for the adventures in Front Range. We aren't fancy, but we are convenient, cozy and safe. Gate code will be provided 48 hours before arrival.
We have spots in the wide open meadow for Tents, Motorhomes, Vans, Trailers, and Rooftop setups. The grounds are a bit sloped but we've got leveling boards (please leave them behind).
We've got Boulder's best eggs, a few walking paths through tall wild grasses, a campfire ring, solar shower, small sink, gas grill, and a lovely porta-jon that’s cleaned weekly.
We can handle RVs up to 45 feet - truck and trailer. It’s a big field, but a narrow, winding and steep gravel ramp to get in and out.
We have a community fire pit with free burn wood, though the big logs are few and far between; your own firewood is recommended - as well as an ax or saw. If it's windy, please skip the fire... the BFD is very strict about this!!
We have well water feeding a solar shower (only hot when the sun shines) and sink (non potable unless you have a filter).
We have a wading / dog pool continually refreshed from the creek. It’s a saving grace in the summertime. 8/9/26- creek is currently dried up.
Please help yourself to eggs up at the coop - look for the Venmo QR. The chickens free range during the day, so please MIND YOUR DOG.

The Tiny House:
The tiny house is a luxurious stay for hipcampers. It boasts a loft with queen size bed, and secondary loft with an additional mattress upon request. There is a full kitchen with fridge, gas stove/oven and sink. Enjoy a bath in the soaking tub or a quick shower in the bathroom, which also has a composting toilet (don't worry, it doesn't smell!) and sink. Relax on the couch or outside in your private sitting area that looks into the national forest. Electricity, wi-fi, and heat included. The tiny house can sleep 4, although may be better suited to 2 if you don't want to be rubbing elbows.
The Property:
The tiny house is parked nearby the main house on the property where we live. We are at the dead end of the road, and the property abuts National Forest with trails for miles and incredible views of nearby peaks. We have two dogs who you may hear occasionally, but who live in their own fenced yard attached to the main house. Though we live on the property, the tiny house is your own private space and we'll respect your privacy during your stay. Neighboring houses are visible from the property in one direction. The other direction all that can be seen is trees, mountains and sky. There is space to pitch a tent next to the tiny house for additional hipcampers.
Please note, we sit at about 8600' elevation which means in the summer you can enjoy a good 10-15 degree temperature drop from the flatlands. Ahhh.
In the winter, it will also typically be colder and snowier.
Be prepared for the altitude and be sure to hydrate (and consider drinking less alcohol than you normally tolerate) so you can remain healthy and enjoy your stay.

A can of propane is always available for your use of the stove.
* A note to novice campers and regular hotel patrons: Though you are in a shelter, you are still exposed to the elements. The treehouse is not insulated. Wind, bugs, and critters may all be a part of the variable treehouse experience mother nature has planned for you. If you are not comfortable camping, getting dirty, swatting flies, being too hot, being too cold, hearing the noises of animals at night, waking up to the sound of magpies, and who knows what else, this experience may not be for you.

The hosts, the camp site, the backstory and the homey feel of this property has been the standout of my camping trip. Very blessed to have met these folks. The campsite is next to a pasture where horses and cattle roam and graze, a large shaded commons area for gathering or cooking kept things comfortable even in the summer heat. Absolutely beautiful land surrounding you with a view overlooking the flatirons and 14ers rising westward. Would definitely stay here again and support these hardworking farmers. Thanks Bonnie :)

Excellent camping experience- hosts are welcoming and friendly and embraced our 4 kids and puppy. Its a gorgeous property with an amazing large pond that’s perfect for swimming. We camped at Wide Awake Ranch for the first time this weekend and will definitely be back. The hosts Sal and Simmons were so kind and helped make our trip easy and enjoyable.
It was so beautiful and private in the valley. The kids loved paddle boarding, playing in the water and exploring. We also did the soaking tub and cold plunge and all wanted to do it again.

Great last minute getaway! Close to Denver/Boulder but you wouldn’t know it. Host was warm and welcoming, making sure we found our site and checked in a couple times to make sure we were settled. Recent storms caused the pond to be muddy and the road to be more bumpy than normal - but as we say here, we needed the rain and we knew ahead of time so we were completely prepared.

This is definitely one of my favorite Hipcamps in Colorado! My campsite was beautiful - right on the water, but enough space that you can get away from the bugs when they’re active. We saw a beaver, deer, and a huge bull moose! The portapotties were clean and conveniently located. The team running the campground were so sweet and helpful, and the artesenal hot soak was sooo relaxing and a wonderful way to decompress after lots of hiking. I will 100% be coming back here again!

The full campground takeover at Camp Always Choose Adventures was absolutely awesome!! Having the entire campground for our kids to roam was perfect for our group, and Chantelle was such an amazing host. She was always thinking about how to make it fun for our kids - from feeding the goats to the offroading "roller coaster", it was a trip they won't forget!
Chantelle was always a gracious host ahead of time, as we had a lot of questions that she was always ready to answer. She also thought ahead to get some oxygen for our out-of-state family, which ended up coming in handy.
I would strongly recommend this site to anyone looking for a space for a large group... we can't wait to come back!

This place had just about everything we traveled to CO for. So much so, we barely ventured off the property! The hosts were very kind and helpful. Had an issue with some other campers not having camping courtesy, and the hosts allowed us to relocate to a spot that made up for it ten fold! Not a peep the next night, which showed the host addressed with them. Their water they sell is amazing and some of the best I've ever had. Never had to wait long for paddleboards as everybody kindly takes turns. Hiking paths throughout making it fun to just get up and go.
There's still so many things that make this place a hidden gem and if you're interested, just do it! You won't regret it!

Group trip
We had an amazing stay! The site and facilities were fantastic, and the lake with paddleboards was such a fun bonus. Everything was clean, comfortable, and had a very homey feel.
We stayed at a premium site, and it had everything we could have wanted. The tent was already set up, which made everything so convenient, and the extra blanket came in handy during the rain. The owners were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.
They even found our missing tent pole and returned it to us. The water was delicious, and their hospitality was outstanding. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing camping experience!

Where to go
Leadville
Leadville is one of Colorado’s favorite old mining towns, and it’s only thirty minutes to the northeast of Twin Lakes. Surrounded by some of the highest peaks in the Rocky Mountains, Leadville is an adventure town steeped in gold rush history. Whether you’re seeking climbing adventures in the high country, gorgeous mountain scenery, or a glimpse into the region’s wild mining days, Leadville offers an abundance of outdoor fun. From RV parks to scenic National Forest campgrounds, campers have plenty of options in Leadville including the popular Crescent Mining Camp and Silver Dollar Campground.
Independence Pass
Heading west from Twin Lakes on Highway 82 is the historic byway to Independence Pass. It’s one of the highest paved roads in Colorado and travels up and over the Continental Divide from Twin Lakes to Aspen. There are several national forest campgrounds on both sides of the pass and numerous trails, ghost towns, and scenic views to explore along the way.
Aspen
Aspen is only an hour’s drive from Twin Lakes via the Independence Pass Road. Aspen may be known best for its skiing, but it’s a genuine outdoor adventure town for hikers, mountain bikers, and rock climbers the rest of the year. The Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness offers some of the most scenic hiking in Colorado. The waters of the Roaring Fork River also offer some of the best fly fishing in the state.
When to go
The best time for hiking, boating, and fishing is from June through early September. Campgrounds in the area are typically only open during this time as well, making summer the busiest season but the best time to visit. Avoid the crowds by visiting midweek and staying away on holiday weekends. Independence Pass is closed in winter and does not open until the Thursday before Memorial Day. Depending on early season snow, Independence Pass typically remains open until late October or early November.
Know before you go
- Campsites at the White Star and Lakeview campgrounds at Twin Lakes can be reserved up to six months in advance.
- All sites at Parry Peak and Twin Peaks campgrounds are available on a first-come, first-served basis only.
- Paddleboard, kayak, and mountain bike rentals are available at Twin Lakes.
- To avoid altitude sickness, keep hydrated and take it slow at first. Make sure you’re feeling well at high elevation before attempting to climb a high country peak.
- Vehicles over 35 feet in length are prohibited over Independence Pass Road, given the road’s steep and windy nature.
