105 West Ranch
3 sites · Lodging101 acres · Goldfield, CO105 West Ranch has some pretty deep and unique history. Our area was originally surveyed in 1881. After that, miners came through in the late 1800s and dug prospector pits looking for gold. Many of these pits and even some old tin cans from miner's camps are still visible on the property today. In 1931, the area was re-surveyed with more accuracy. In 1936, the President of the United States, FDR, granted a land patent (homestead) of 632 acres to a man named Willard H Banks. Part of this 632 acre homestead granted by the President was what is now 105 West Ranch.Fast forward nearly 100 years. My wife, Rachel, and I bought this property in 2019, fulfilling a life-long dream of owning our own land. Rachel and I live for the outdoors, we work in the outdoor industry and spend every chance we get exploring our beautiful state with our two dogs. As a 4th generation Coloradan, it's been a lifelong dream to own a (relatively) small part of the state my family has called home since the late 1800s. Now that we own our own piece of Colorado heaven we want to share the unforgettable experience, memories and beauty of our property with others looking for an escape from the city.

Rustic Glamorous Artist's Cabin
3 sites · Lodging12 acres · Bailey, COThe first time I saw this beautiful heavily wooded 12-acre property, I immediately put in an offer. That was 18 years ago. I spent the next 11 years chasing corporate goals which I finally realized were inconsistent with my soul. I started a family and decided to sell this property. I brought my then 2 year old daughter here so she could see it once before I sold it. As we drove up highway 285 through vistas each more stunning than the last, I was moved to tears by the beauty. By the time we reached the property, I knew that we would be moving back here. Nearly 3 years later, we finally moved back with 3 dogs and 2 cats in tow. We love it here and truly belong in this place we call home. Part of the former Ute tribe summer hunting area, and backing to the Pike National Forest and Lost Creek Wilderness; this fascinating area is both beautiful and full of things to do. Fresh clean mountain air. No people. Get away to the quiet beauty of your private wooded cabin. Enjoy a campfire, amazing mountain views, and killer hiking right out your cabin door. Spend an amazing night with millions of stars overhead. Recharge your soul in silent mountain peace. A rare opportunity to stay tucked in private woods and steps from 1000s of acres of national forest. Featuring dual heaters, sleeping loft, outdoor cooking area, solar, and indoor camp toilet facilities, this is luxury glampingSpend an unforgettable night watching millions of stars in the crisp clean mountain air.  Feel yourself relax and recharge as you enjoy the woods and the stunning mountain views. The cabin is furnished with many of the pieces from the Lost Creek Cabin Studio and features solar electricity and indoor camp toilet facilities. Fresh water is provided. The artist's retreat is a luxury glamping cabin. As long as there is no fire ban, you are welcome to enjoy a campfire in the outdoor fireplace.  We require guests to diligently tend their fire and completely extinguish the campfire when guests are not near.  There is firewood to gather on the property and we have firewood for purchase as well.  We do not allow guests to bring in firewood as the area has begun to see invasive species of insects and we do not want to contribute to this potentially devastating situation.

Rabbit Hole Ranch
101 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Alamosa East, COThe Rabbit Hole Ranch and offers beautiful unobstructed views of the Majestic Mt. Blanca Massif and the Great Sand Dunes and is just a (gorgeous) 35 minute drive from both to include Zapata Falls. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is a must-see, and I am grateful for the opportunity to offer you a place nearby to set up camp and go exploring. Alamosa, the largest town in the SLV, is just 20 minutes away. With a population of around 9,800 Alamosa has that small town feel and has the goods and services you will need. Camping here at the Rabbit Hole Ranch is primitive and dispersed (no numbered sites) and there 30 acres available for you to use. Typically you will experience a rare kind of solitude and silence that feels…. other-worldly, with incredible sunrises and sunsets filling the enormous skies. On holidays, however, expect it to be busy. Our two Great Pyrenees are here to help keep you and your pets (and our chickens) safe. Please help make their jobs easier by not leaving any food or trash in or around tents. Please keep your pets on leash or under control until you’re comfortably certain they get along with our gentle giants KayLee and Atticus, and our newest addition, Finn, who is a little rescue from Alaska who just LOVES everybody. Quiet time begins at 10:00 pm. Note: Holidays still offer the excellent location and spectacular views, but are likely to be less quiet and far more busy. We do not strictly enforce quiet time during holidays.

Tucked into the foothills of the Southern Front Range, Manitou Springs is well placed for tackling Pikes Peak and exploring the sandstone spires of the Garden of the Gods, as well as nearby ancient cliff dwellings. The town is known for its natural mineral springs, which you can drink and soak in. Challenge yourself on the Manitou Incline, or browse for art in the historic downtown. RV parks offer camping in town, but head out to the mountains, forests, and plains to find plentiful options for all types of campers.

Where to Go

Pike National Forest

Head west for outdoor activities near Woodland Park, or find fossils at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument. On the other side of Pikes Peak, Mueller State Park offers year-round outdoor recreation in a wooded setting, abundant wildlife, and camping options spanning walk-in tent sites, RV sites with electric hookups, and cabins. The surrounding Pike National Forests offer plenty of wilderness and mountains, and a wide range of campgrounds plus space for dispersed camping. For solitude, explore and camp within several wilderness areas.

Denver and nearby

For urban adventures, head north to Denver. Cherry Creek State Park and Chatfield State Park both offer reservoirs, rolling hills, and campgrounds with amenities just outside Colorado’s largest city. For off grid camping and glamping, try Golden Gate Canyon State Park. To the north of Denver, St. Vrain State Park offers great fishing and camping near ponds. Drive along the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway to enjoy stellar views and plentiful campgrounds.

South central Colorado

Stay in a private campground or RV park in nearby Colorado Springs, or head to Cheyenne Mountain State Park to explore the outdoors and camp. Near Cañon City, you can ride the rapids of Royal Gorge and stay in rustic glamping tents. Head further south to explore the plains and high desert, with a visit to historic Pueblo, and follow the Santa Fe Trail down through Trinidad. Camp lakeside at Lake Pueblo State Park or Trinidad Lake State Park, or take the Highway of Legends from Trinidad to La Veta and Walsenburg to camp near the Spanish Peaks or Lathrop State Park.

When to Go

Summer is the busiest time in Manitou Springs, and also offers the best weather for outdoor activities. During the peak summer season, visitors to Pikes Peak may not be able to drive to the summit and may have to take a shuttle bus. Visit in late spring for smaller crowds. Fall brings Golden aspens, and the Gold Belt Tour Scenic Byway is a great drive to see them. Expect peak colors in September to early October.

Know Before You Go

  • A free shuttle takes passengers around Manitou Springs. You will want a vehicle to explore areas outside of town.
  • Manitou Springs is situated at over 6,000 feet. Other recreation areas and campsites in the region are at even higher elevations. Be aware of altitude issues.
  • Hiking, parking, and camping are not allowed on the Pikes Peak Highway, which charges a per person fee from May to November.
  • Be bear aware, especially when camping. Store food and other attractants in a bear-proof container away from your tent.
