Owner will communicate with you to make sure this is a good fit before owner accepts the reservation. Allow time for that in the reservation process. On Holiday Weekends, only three day reservations will be accepted. The terrain is rocky, we highly recommend keeping your eyes on your small kids as well as when they are in the lofts, for security reasons.

Smoking is permitted outside when not under a fire ban.
Hipcampers under 21 years old are welcome only under adult supervision.
We recommend bringing your own towels and a flashlight since our lodging has an out side toilet. Please don't expect a flush toilet, we want to emphasize that we offer a porta potty.

Located on 3 acres of land, this private campsite features a large 16x20 canvas walled tent with a covered deck. There is a large wood stove inside to keep you warm all night long during all four seasons. The tent can easily accommodate up to 8 people. There is 1 twin over full bunk bed, 1 full size bed, and 1 futon. There is one more additional mattress and bed-frame under the bunk bed for additional sleeping (some minor furniture rearranging is required to make space for the additional bed). PLEASE NOTE: The reservation is for the provided canvas tent only. If you want to pitch additional tents, we do allow that for an added cost of $25 per tent per night. Please contact host prior to booking to make sure your arrangement will work. We do not allow extra tents on the property without prior permission and paid fees.
In the woods right by the tent you’ll find a private playground complete with: swings and slide, trampoline, spinning rope tunnels, ninja course, climbing dome and a zip-line. In the winter there’s a great area for sledding.
We provide everything you need for the camping experience. There is a a set of dishes for 10, silverware, all cooking utensils, cast iron pots and pans, a coffee percolator, trash bags, dish soap, outdoor kitchen prep area, large 3 burner camp stove, propane, (5) camp chairs, bear box, warm down comforters, lanterns / solar lights, board games for both kids & adults.
The only thing you should plan to bring is your own firewood, water, sleeping bag or sheets, your pillow and food!

Don't forget we're at over 9,000 feet elevation and temperatures and weather conditions can vary greatly. Be prepared for all seasons!!!
Camp fire usage depends on current weather conditions at the time of visits in addition to any state/county restrictions that may be in place (host approval required)!!! IF there are no restrictions and fires are allowed, we have firewood bundles and/or starter packs for purchase at $10/bundle/pack. We also have two propane fire pits available for rent (see "extras"), or you are welcome to bring your own. If you have purchased wood and there are restrictions/bans, we will gladly apply your wood purchase the rental of a propane pit. Propane fire pit usage may also be restricted by current conditions or state/county restrictions!
Fresh eggs are available for purchase (when the girls are cooperating) by the dozen, or half dozen (see "extras"). You are welcome to go "visit" the chickens. Their coop is next to the large blue shop/barn.

Camp Penguin at Wandering Penguin Ranch (facebook.com/CampPenguin) in southern Colorado is about a 3 hour drive from the Denver metro area, two hours from Colorado Springs and just under an hour north west of Canon City. We provide a variety of site options to choose from including tent sites, car/van/truck sites, and rustic trailer site options - all with NO amenities (NO electric/septic/water, etc). Additional vehicle parking on the property can be accommodated for groups with more than one vehicle. Please provide type of camper/tent and number of vehicles at booking so hosts can help direct you to the best site option available.
Guests can relax around our small pond or roam freely around our 35-acre property. There is both hiking and fishing at Badger Creek only a short drive away. Waugh Mountain State Trust Land is another hiking option and is also just a short drive up the road (*NOTE: the State of Colorado now requires a valid hunting/fishing license to access state trust lands)! Additionally, we are about 45-90 minutes away from a variety of alternative adventures! Some of these include Salida, Cripple Creek, Eleven Mile Reservoir, Paradise Cove Swimming Hole, Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Manitou Incline, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience, several rafting/zipline and Jeep tour companies, Westcliffe, Bishop Castle and Canon City including Skyline Drive, Tunnel Drive, Royal Gorge Train, Museum of Colorado Prisons and The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. Any of these can be done as a day trip or visited while on your way here, or home. (*NOTE: some of these attractions are free, some require a fee and some are seasonal. There is access to white water rafting, guided fishing, and fishing lessons. There are at least 5 hot springs within 60 miles of Twin Bridges Campground. Salida is considered the white-water rafting capitol of the US by some and has a whitewater park and surfing wave. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

It is a quiet and peaceful place located 25 minutes from Cripple Creek (if you like gambling) , and 45 minutes from Woodland Park where you can find restaurants, supermarkets, rock and gem shops and more attractions typical to a tourist town.

If you like to shoot arrows bring your bow! Asha's retreat is located 5 minutes away from a BLM a beautiful place to enjoy a nice walk!
The terrain is rocky, we highly recommend keeping your eyes on your small kids as well as when they are in the lofts, for security reasons.
Reiki healing sessions are available upon request as well as Reiki training by a Certified Reiki Master.
Smoking is permitted outside when not under a fire ban.
Hipcampers under 21 years old are welcome only under adult supervision.
We recommend bringing your own towels and a flashlight since our lodging has an out side toilet. Please don't expect a flush toilet, we want to emphasize that we offer a porta potty.

Located on 3 acres of land, this private campsite features a large 16x20 canvas walled tent with a covered deck. There is a large wood stove inside to keep you warm all night long during all four seasons. The tent can easily accommodate up to 8 people. There is 1 twin over full bunk bed, 1 full size bed, and 1 futon. There is one more additional mattress and bed-frame under the bunk bed for additional sleeping (some minor furniture rearranging is required to make space for the additional bed). PLEASE NOTE: The reservation is for the provided canvas tent only. If you want to pitch additional tents, we do allow that for an added cost of $25 per tent per night. Please contact host prior to booking to make sure your arrangement will work. We do not allow extra tents on the property without prior permission and paid fees.
In the woods right by the tent you’ll find a private playground complete with: swings and slide, trampoline, spinning rope tunnels, ninja course, climbing dome and a zip-line. In the winter there’s a great area for sledding.
We provide everything you need for the camping experience. There is a a set of dishes for 10, silverware, all cooking utensils, cast iron pots and pans, a coffee percolator, trash bags, dish soap, outdoor kitchen prep area, large 3 burner camp stove, propane, (5) camp chairs, bear box, warm down comforters, lanterns / solar lights, board games for both kids & adults.
The only thing you should plan to bring is your own firewood, water, sleeping bag or sheets, your pillow and food!
PLEASE NOTE: Person reserving the campsite must sign a separate rental agreement. All adults must sign a liability waiver for themselves and their minor children. Rental agreement will be sent after booking.

Don't forget we're at over 9,000 feet elevation and temperatures and weather conditions can vary greatly. Be prepared for all seasons!!!
Camp fire usage depends on current weather conditions at the time of visits in addition to any state/county restrictions that may be in place (host approval required)!!! IF there are no restrictions and fires are allowed, we have firewood bundles and/or starter packs for purchase at $10/bundle/pack. We also have two propane fire pits available for rent (see "extras"), or you are welcome to bring your own. If you have purchased wood and there are restrictions/bans, we will gladly apply your wood purchase the rental of a propane pit. Propane fire pit usage may also be restricted by current conditions or state/county restrictions!
Fresh eggs are available for purchase (when the girls are cooperating) by the dozen, or half dozen (see "extras"). You are welcome to go "visit" the chickens. Their coop is next to the large blue shop/barn.
*UPON ARRIVAL at the property, please WAIT INSIDE our main gate (unless otherwise directed via prior communication with host). The host(s) will meet you there shortly after passing through the gate and direct you to your site.

Camp Penguin at Wandering Penguin Ranch (facebook.com/CampPenguin) in southern Colorado is about a 3 hour drive from the Denver metro area, two hours from Colorado Springs and just under an hour north west of Canon City. We provide a variety of site options to choose from including tent sites, car/van/truck sites, and rustic trailer site options - all with NO amenities (NO electric/septic/water, etc). Additional vehicle parking on the property can be accommodated for groups with more than one vehicle. Please provide type of camper/tent and number of vehicles at booking so hosts can help direct you to the best site option available.
Guests can relax around our small pond or roam freely around our 35-acre property. There is both hiking and fishing at Badger Creek only a short drive away. Waugh Mountain State Trust Land is another hiking option and is also just a short drive up the road (*NOTE: the State of Colorado now requires a valid hunting/fishing license to access state trust lands)! Additionally, we are about 45-90 minutes away from a variety of alternative adventures! Some of these include Salida, Cripple Creek, Eleven Mile Reservoir, Paradise Cove Swimming Hole, Florissant Fossil Beds, Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center, Manitou Incline, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Cave of the Winds, Seven Falls, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, Royal Gorge Dinosaur Experience, several rafting/zipline and Jeep tour companies, Westcliffe, Bishop Castle and Canon City including Skyline Drive, Tunnel Drive, Royal Gorge Train, Museum of Colorado Prisons and The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. Any of these can be done as a day trip or visited while on your way here, or home. (*NOTE: some of these attractions are free, some require a fee and some are seasonal. To avoid disappointment, PLEASE do your own research prior to arrival)!

Salida is considered the white-water rafting capitol of the US by some and has a whitewater park and surfing wave. Salida area is also home to a ton of hiking (14'ers anyone?) and mountain biking trails. The Royal Gorge is a quick 30 minute drive with restaurants and other fun near Canon City. The Sand Dunes are 90 minutes and Monarch Ski Area is 45, we have some of the best bird watching! Warbling Vireo, Western Wood-peewee, Cassin's Kingbird to name a few.

Beautiful spot right on the water! Definitely rustic but a great value for the price and had everything we needed. The owners were very nice! Great privacy for Pioneer Cabin 2. Kids enjoyed walking across the swinging bridge. Beautiful moonlit sky to enjoy the evenings. If you're fussy about linens or cush pillows, bring your own. We were there during a heat wave in late March and it was quite warm in the cabin. The oscillating fan was a lifesaver but it doesn't hit one corner of the beds. If it's peak summer, you may wanna throw in a second one. The coffee pot is a nice touch and fridge and microwave too! Made for a low maintenance quick getaway from the city and a short, scenic drive to Salida. Crucial that it was pet friendly as we love being able to bring our doggos. Would definitely come back. Thanks for having us!

We had an excellent experience at Sweetwater! Our host responded promptly to all of our questions and it was great to have bathrooms available. We loved that we had picnic tables and a fire ring. It might help to warn guests that there are stairs on the opposite side of the river since we had our wagon and didn't realize until we crossed in the dark that we had to carry it down stairs. We definitely plan to return in the future! So beautiful!

The views at this site were absolutely incredible. We arrived fairly late on a bad weather day, but it didn't take away any of the enjoyment we had. The hosts also made sure to stay until we arrived to make sure we got settled in correctly. Would love to return on a sunnier day.

It’s a beautiful place. Clean and well maintained by the wonderful people who own it. Listening to the river and geese was relaxing. Yes, the road is near and you hear the cars and trucks but it’s in a river canyon so we just ignored that and enjoyed ourselves. Good places to eat nearby (check out the MUG) and a good base camp location for anything in or around Colorado Springs.
10/10 will return.

Very clean property. Great clean showers as well. Only downside is that the heated pool isn’t operable during their winter period and neither are the showers inside the campers. However, they were responsive via text when I had questions. I’ll come back when it’s not off season and additional amenities are available.

What a beautiful spot along the Arkansas River! I stayed over a winter holiday week, so it was pretty quiet but the views were amazing. The hosts were very hospitable and the bathrooms were clean. Getting to walk along the railroad onto BLM land was an added bonus. I would definitely stay again.
