Ben purchased 101 acres in 2021 with plans to harvest the dead avocado trees for firewood and replant with organic, sustainable crops such as grapes, citrus trees, and flowers. Splitrock's attraction comes from its unique groves, magnificent granite boulders, and sweeping vistas. A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want then this may not be your kind of place. Just go a little bit further until you see the sign for Camp Seminole Spring. Bring bug spray and sun screen. If you need something, don't worry! There is a Dollar General, a gas station and a small cafe within walking distance. We have 38 acres of camping sites nature trails for hiking and mountain biking. Guests can park right on their site, or they have the option of parking and hiking into the woods to set up their site a bit more remote and off the beaten path. This is rustic camping. We have a bathhouse located at the campsites with showers. The bathhouse at the Great Lodge hereas we do have garbage cans, we prefer that anything you bring into the property, you bring out with you. We allow campfires. Don't be surprised if you see a monkey or two in the trees... The fishing is amazing in these parts, so if you are an angler, come and visit. We have .75 miles of frontage on the Orange Creek. The creek flows into Lake Ocklawaha which just so happens to be one of the best bass fishing lakes in the USA. In fact, ten-pound bass are not uncommon from the Lake Ocklawaha River in the winter. Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature. Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Ocala, the ‘horse capital of the world’ showcases a brand new multi-billion-dollar equestrian center which draws people from all over the world. This scenic property has an artesian spring which pushes out 1.6 million gallons of water per day rated among the top three percent of water in the world with an 8.4 natural pH. This water fills the pond and then continues on to flow into Orange Creek. Camp Seminole Springs was established in the 1940’s as a honeymoon resort and campground. The founders built a heart-shaped ‘pond-spring’ which is filled with the crystal-clear water pushed out from the spring where guests can lounge by the beach or gaze down into the bottom through the glass-like water or take a refreshing swim. At the top of the hill overlooking the heart-shaped spring, one will find the rustic Great Lodge where guests can come and mingle with each other, enjoy a relaxing conversation and a drink on the veranda or just sit and watch the activity in and around the spring.

Recently (2020), a 17.2-pound bass was caught there. The combined Ocklawaha and St. Johns drainage basin is possibly the most significant river-estuary waterway of Florida. This water system is of legendary reputation among anglers of largemouth bass who seek 10 pound plus trophy fish. Conveniently located between Ocala and Gainesville in the heart of Orange Springs, Florida, Camp Seminole Spring is perfectly located for the traveler who wants to really connect with nature. It appears to be ‘off the beaten path’, yet it is close enough to civilization so that even the most seasoned camper can make a quick run to store should he or she need something not found in nature. Camp Seminole Spring is mid-way (approx.. 22 miles) between Ocala and Gainesville, Florida, which are two thriving cities in this area of Florida. Ocala, the ‘horse capital of the world’ showcases a brand new multi-billion-dollar equestrian center which draws people from all over the world. This scenic property has an artesian spring which pushes out 1.6 million gallons of water per day rated among the top three percent of water in the world with an 8.4 natural pH. Retief is a wonderful host. He has done an outstanding job making this campsite very comfortable. There is a community sink to wash dishes, an eating area with a view of a bird feeder, three flush toilets and two showers with hot water. Each campsite has a burn barrel and a picnic table. Retief is very flexible and accommodating and does whatever he can to make his guests have a wonderful experience here in Terlingua. If you're here on a Saturday he cooks an outstanding breakfast at 9:00 a.m.

Weekend Trip to The Bus Stop Campground

My friends and I had an amazing time tent camping! The location is about 20 minutes outside the main town area and has the best sky for looking at stars I have ever been to. The ground was very rocky, but the owner provides hammers and metal stakes to keep tents down. The bathrooms and showers were a blessing after long days of hiking in the national park! I will definitely be back at the site if I am in the area again!

Camp Saguaro was a great base for exploring the area. The campground is well-maintained, clean, and very cutely decorated. The hosts are very helpful, but also unobtrusive. I loved the meteor shower I saw at 5:30 am. The owls, coyotes, and roosters were a great night sound track. My group was out of camp exploring most days so I didn’t get to spend much daytime in the camp. I would have liked recycling receptacle next to the trash can. That is my main suggestion for improvement. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

I loved the whole vibe of camp, which is fun and functional! I stayed in the Adobe, which was very comfortable with an air mattress I rented from camp owners for $15. There were hanging overhead lights near the bed which I found helpful though not a substitute for lantern and headlamp. The bathroom was clean, the shower had a healthy stream of warm water. There were welcoming touches throughout the campground including lights on trees, little colorful fake nomes and mushrooms decorating the cacti area near my structure. There were adirondack chairs throughout, easy dish washing sink, a convenience store with ice and wood, gift items. All in all a comfortable experience I’d do again. Plus location is great near Saguero National Park and Gates Pass (wonderful sunset views). My friends stayed in nearby camp sites on premises and we enjoyed campfire meals and singing. Before 8 pm. It was very quiet and clean. Thank you!

We had an awesome time at Lucky U camping for a weekend in mid-December. Rob and Mike were excellent hosts, both very responsive and hospitable on site. The ranch’s facilities (with the hosts built themselves!) were in pristine condition and well-appointed with extra towels, indoor-style plumbing and even a full camp kitchen. Our tent campsite was quiet and secluded in a nicely shaded spot. Interacting with the animals on the farm during the day was a blast. We could not recommend their camp more.

Weekend Trip to Lucky U Ranch

This camping experience was incredible! The land is beautiful and cared for, the property felt private and exclusive, yet was very easy to navigate; the roads well maintained and accessible for any vehicle. Large flat beautiful areas for multiple tents under the trees or in the open, and plenty of room to park and lay out blankets to star gaze. Rob and Mike were wonderful and available, met us at the gate and led us to our spot, showing us all the important points. The horses and mules were adorable and friendly. SO many birds to listen to when awakening, and the stars at night were incredibly bright. Bathroom area was clean, and not only stocked with shampoo and conditioners, but also coffee, creamer, and hot chocolate! We went to swim with manatees one day, but honestly could have stayed and just enjoyed the scenery just as happily. It was heaven. We missed the tour, but trust it would have been lovely as well. We will definitely return!

The view was stunning, the bus was comfy and was an added part of the experience for sure. Every morning I was woken up by the running of the goats lol. They would stop sometimes and hang out as well. Had a lovely solo camping trip here and would definitely return again!
