The Fairy Forest is 4 acres of redwood trees one mile from the magical city of Trinidad, CA. People have been camping in our meadow since the 1950's, and I'm happy to carry on the tradition, by opening it up to you. There was a fire on the property in 1901 which left the burnt out hollow stumps which you'll see by the shower. There's one old growth redwood on the property, behind the glampy tent, but everything else in roughly 120 years old. Every year we try to make your glamping experience better and better. This year, we've added an artisan picnic table, built on site, and some solar lights leading to the shower. Outdoor sink and cook space is next on our list! There used to be two campsites on our property, but we closed down one of them to give guests in the glampy tent exclusive usage of the outdoor shower and porta potty. We are also renting out our cabin this year, which has been our home for the last 3 years. There's 10 local beaches to explore in the area, great little restaurants and businesses, and countless trails- including Strawberry Rock, which is right down the street from us. We're 19 miles away from Orick, which is the gateway to Fern Canyon (make a reservation in advance) and all the trails with old growth redwoods. And we're 16 miles from Arcata, a vibrant, colorful and creative city that is home to the first farmer's market in California, which is quite the experience if you find yourself here on a Saturday. Looking for a friendly basecamp? Sylvan Harbor is a family owned and operated camp that offers RV and tent sites, cabins and vintage campers. The camp is basic and functional. Most sites are narrow, offer no privacy, and are challenging to park in. Lodging options are rustic, cozy, and clean, and are also surrounded by RVs during the summer. The perimeter of the park is lined with tall trees. Travelers of all types are welcome year-round, and we cater to fisherman staying monthly in the summer. Thanks for considering our camp!

Lovely property right above the river! The host is kind and thoughtful. I appreciated the self serve check in as I arrived very late after a long day of driving. There are a variety of sites, and I was lucky to be upgraded to the beautiful Perch! It has a private deck overlooking the river, comfy bed + electricity, access to sweet bathhouse with shower+toilet. My pup and I enjoyed the whole property to ourselves and spent a lot of time by the water. It's clear there is a lot of care for the space. HIGHLY recommend!

4 nights at Klamath’s Best Kept Secret

Accurately described by the host and easy to find. Accessible on public roads and pull onto a solid grass area. Electric hook up and water worked well. Also a serviceable picnic table. Bathrooms with showers had hot water, were clean and well maintained. Site was pretty quiet (just two visitors) and occasional dog barks from the residents. It worked well for four nights and I'd come back.

I had an incredible stay at this riverfront camp. The property itself is beautiful, peaceful, clean, and right on the water. Michael, the host, was extremely hospitable and kind. You can tell he truly cares about the land and the people who come to enjoy it. Waking up to the sound of the Trinity and being able to step out and swing flies right from camp was unreal. I managed to bring a few nice steelhead to the net without ever having to leave the property. If you’re a fisherman, this place is gold. If you’re a family looking for a quiet place to relax, swim, explore, and enjoy the outdoors, it’s perfect for you too. Highly recommend. I’ll be back.

The tent was nice and there was a heater. I liked having the comforts of a real bed (that was actually comfortable) and be in the middle of the redwoods and be still close to nature. I loved that it was so close to Trinidad and the freeway as-well. The shower was hard to get warm but it wasn't so bad.

Weekend Trip to Camp Miranda

The site was lovely - Casey & Bryon maintain a lovely farm beyond the fence of the campground, with ducks and vegetable plots. The camp area is slightly slopes to the river, but very open and with plenty of space to pull in. It was close enough to the little town nearby for us to walk, and also to a 1 mile trailhead of redwoods. The restrooms were clean and the showers quite warm which was very nice for our wintertime stay. 10/10 would book again for this area.

The cabin is so quaint and beautiful. It’s quite cold this time of year so starting a fire was imperative! The shower and outdoor space was lovely and the slugs were the sweetest visitors. Ted and Emily were responsive hosts — thanks for much for an unforgettable experience!

Great place - I went in the off season so was pretty empty. But right next to boat launch area. Warm showers and bathrooms short walk from area. Great place even for tent camping. Host was super helpful when I didn’t follow the directions well in the rain.

So beautiful, romantic, and equipped! It really has everything you could need while remaining pretty minimalist. The steamy outdoor shower on a cold morning was healing, and the privacy of the toilet was ideal (totally worth it to walk outside the cabin for a moment, and you’re still totally protected from rain and dirt on the couple of steps it takes to reach it.) Can’t wait to come back.

Weekend Trip to Whispering Redwood Creek

We had a great time camping here! The site was beautiful tucked amongst the redwoods and it felt very protected and private. We had our dog with us and felt comfortable with her off leash since the campsite was so contained. It was really nice to have a bathroom and picnic table too. The short nature trail was cute and we found a few banana slugs! The written directions from the host were great and super easy to follow to find camp. Highly recommend staying on Chris’s land for your next weekend in the redwoods!

The campground was very secluded while still being in a very convenient location (laundry and trash very close by!). You’re right next to a trail and the nature views were gorgeous! Just remember to bring your bug spray, lol!
