Beautiful property in a beautiful area! We walked by the creek after dinner. So peaceful. Woke up in the morning to cows quietly eating their breakfast right across the fence. Just idyllic. Can't wait to visit again.

For one mike was a good host, he helped give us a layout of his property. And hook us up on a great spot right next to the water. The place is beautiful and relaxing and at night, you can hear every little creature and bug out there, which was awesome.

What an awesome spot! We found this the day of on Friday of Labor Day weekend. It’s full on creek access. Plenty of shade and the place is green (and end of summer) with black berries all around. Mike is an awesome host! We will be back!

I had two wonderful nights here. I was the only camper and had the whole place to myself! I got a fantastic tour of the island, the wine club, the three bridges, the wine cave, workshops and more! So much more than just wine to see here! Vintage motorcycles and antique motorized bicycles! The parking area was large and flat and gravel right next to grazing cattle, lots of places to sit and walk and watch the flowing streams. And there’s a brand new luxurious bathroom on a trailer that’s bigger than my bathroom at home! Very nice! Ryan was always very responsive and helpful. And I heard all sorts of wonderful stories from Jimbob. I had a great stay and look forward to returning. I recommend this place to those staying in the Auburn area. It’s situated close to all sorts of beautiful places! Quiet, serene, lovely!

We had the best time! The creek is so clear and beautiful, we spent most of the time swimming. It was perfect for kids. The play area was open, although the camp host did warn us about spiders and just to be cautions. Saw tons of turkeys and deers too which is always a huge plus. Definitely coming back!

Mike was friendly and informative, gave us great advice on a local fishing spot and swimming hole. The campsite was clean and location along the creek was very nice. My son was able to walk through the creek watching deer and that was his favorite part.

We enjoyed camping on Mike’s property! He showed us the available sites when we arrived; two were already taken. The sites have a good amount of space between them. We settled on site #4 (I think, none of them have numbers displayed).
We loved the easy accessibility to the creek. There was a place right near our site to jump into the deep swimming hole portion of the creek. The rest of the creek was very shallow. We used a SUP and some pool floatie rings and had a grand time. It was also blackberry season still, so we enjoyed picking and eating berries.
As someone else mentioned, there are no picnic tables or fire rings at each site. I’d recommend bringing a folding table and a propane fire pit (CA fire restrictions are often in effect during the summer, as they were during our stay).
Toilet is a port-a-potty. Playground was covered in spider webs, unfortunately. We spent the majority of our time in the water and it was so enjoyable!

We enjoyed using mikes land for a real rustic camp out. A very sweet, clean, useable creek that the kids absolutely loved jumping, swimming, and exploring. Mike met us and showed us to our campsite, he also referred us to an awesome swim area on the yuba river. The only restroom is a porta potty but it is camping after all! Excellent host and camp experience!

Mike was a fantastic host—friendly, welcoming, and full of fascinating knowledge about the history of his property and the town. The campsites were beautiful, spotless, and truly right on the water. The calm stream made for perfect swimming, and we had a blast floating up and down in our inflatable boat. It’s a peaceful, dog-friendly spot that makes for the perfect relaxing getaway!

We recently stayed at Camp Runamuck Hollow and had a genuinely enjoyable time overall. The highlight of the campground is definitely the river — calm, clean, and perfect for both young swimmers and adults looking to cool off or just relax. It added a peaceful and refreshing element to the entire stay.
The campsites themselves are fairly spacious and the general setting is quiet, even though the main road is visible from some of the sites. Thankfully, traffic noise wasn’t an issue at night, which made for a restful sleep under the stars.
However, there are a few areas where improvements could really elevate the experience. First, the campground currently operates on a first-come, first-served basis, and none of the sites are clearly numbered or designated. This made arrival and setup a bit confusing, especially during busier times. Having numbered or reserved sites would really help guests know exactly where they’re staying in advance.
Another thing to note: there are no picnic tables or fire rings at individual sites. It’s also not clear whether campfires are allowed on-site, which left us guessing a bit. Some better signage or communication around campfire rules would be helpful.
For families with kids, the playground is unfortunately not usable at the moment — it’s overgrown with weeds and entirely covered in spiders. It’s a shame because a little maintenance could make it a great play space for children.
All in all, Camp Runamuck Hollow is a solid spot for a relaxing

Mike's campsite was wonderful! I went with a group of friends for July 4th weekend and we stayed at the campsite across the creek and loved it. So nice to hear the water from the tents. It wasn't too remote so we could easily get to grocery and convenience stores. Also, Mike was very helpful and welcoming and his son was a delight. Overall, a wonderful experience!
