Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

We had a great stay at Robb’s place. Our first two nights the campground was fully booked (or close to it) but the sites are so well spaced you’d never know. It was quiet and we had plenty of space (far more than at some camps). The bathrooms were clean and well maintained and the outdoor shower was awesome. My kids loved it so much they actually wanted to shower. (If you’re a parent of young boys, you know this is not the norm!). The communal kitchen space was also a really nice feature. It was perfect for washing dishes and made clean up so much easier. We also had our two dogs so having access to the dog run area was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here if you want to be near the park but not in the park.

Weekend Trip to The Ranch at Cross Road

We arrived at the Ranch later in the afternoon, and navigating the large fifth-wheel trailer onto the property proved a bit challenging. The turn into the entrance is somewhat tight, and entering the gate code would have temporarily blocked the street—something to keep in mind for future guests. The property itself is stunning—peaceful, scenic, and beautifully maintained. Unfortunately, due to our late arrival and early departure the next morning, we didn’t have the opportunity to explore the common areas. It was a real treat to let the dogs roam freely after a long day on the road. They thoroughly enjoyed the open space, though it’s worth noting that there are some foxtails and burrs around, which can easily get caught in their coats—something to be mindful of. The sunset was absolutely breathtaking. There was a gathering at a neighboring facility that evening, and while we could hear their music softly in the distance, it added a pleasant, festive undertone to the quiet night. Later, the sound of coyotes calling under the stars brought a touch of wild charm, followed by roosters crowing at dawn—a true country experience. Though our stay was brief and we didn’t have the chance to meet Matt, we thoroughly appreciated the serene atmosphere and would gladly return for a longer visit in the future.

5 nights at Red Dragonfly Ranch

Such a great property! We felt right at home from the minute we showed up. The chickens ran down the hill to greet us as soon as we got out of the car, which was a nice surprise! Our fire pit was waiting for us, the string lights were hung all around our site. All we had to do was set up the tent and we were all set. The port-a-potty’s were fresh and clean, I thought the sink with running water was a huge plus! The showers were incredible! Hotter water than I get at my own house lol We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spot. We found an amazing breakfast spot just up the road at Priest Station, right on the way to Yosemite. We took the drive to Yosemite every day, it really wasn’t a bad drive. Only about 40 min to the park, and then further to the valley and other sites. I would recommend this ranch to anyone, and can’t wait to go back! Thank you Lily!

One of our favorites. Second time staying. The best part about this is the solitude, no other people to deal with so our dog can roam free! The lake is so peaceful and the floating deck is beautiful to have a morning coffee. A great stay!

First I want to say that the owner of this camp site is amazing! She went above and beyond to ensure our tent stayed in place outside. The location is perfect for those that want to get away and enjoy tranquility. It is very peaceful and clean. There is ample space to camp and there are even farm animals on the site that are loving and friendly. Keep in mind that the shower is outdoors but other than that the location is perfect for those visiting locally in Tuolumne county and Yosemite. I absolutely plan on staying here again in the future. Weekend Trip to Diamond Gulch

John and Molly the dog were very friendly upon arriving and continued to check-up on everyone all throughout the weekend. Restrooms were clean and the showers were hot. The drive to Yosemite and Curry Village is roughly 60miles, taking a little over an hour, and the Groveland town near the campground was nice. Overall great experience and would definitely stay here again.

The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

LDMA Italian Bar

The Lost Dutchman Italian Bar Camp is a 160 acres of Priviately Owned Patented Mining land and our priviate campground located in the Stanislaus National Forest and on the South Fork of the Stanislaus River, which runs through the camp. Camping is available on both side of the river making the Italian Bar camp a destination for campers since we rebuilt the camp from the ground up in the late 1970’s. Whether you want to relax in your campsite listening to the river, dip your toes in the cool waters or try your hand at panning for gold, I-Bar offers all of this and more. There are miles of hiking opportunities around the camp as well, from short river hikes to Trailblazing like the Miners of old. We are betting that you can find the types of hiking you are looking for. You camping includes access to the Bathhouse with commodes and showers. And yes there is even hot water. Little History: The property was discovered and first settled around 1849 as a gold rush mining camp. At one time over 3,000 people lived here and mined for gold. When the gold rush came to an end so did Italian Bar. Until over a hundred years later, In 1976 when our founder fell in love with this remote property and purchased the land and we began rebuilding the I-Bar camp from the ground up and opened it to our members. It didn't hurt that somewhere close by Our founder found a 800oz pocket of gold. Even today, Prospecting for gold is encouraged! If you want to try your hand at “Gettin on some of the shiny” let the Caretakers know! We have a few gold pans we loan out that are just waiting for some color to make you smile. Of course we have pans for sale. If you’re an avid outdoors person, carrying a gold pan with you just makes sense.
