Access to Yosemite via 120 takes 1 hour , Groveland 10 minutes, and Coulterville 5 minutes. You’ll find cows, goats, chickens, llamas and our two beloved livestock dogs on the property. Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Whenever we have time, we'll afford the same time and opportunities to interested hip-campers. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

When you come to the ranch it feels like you are hundreds of miles away from civilization, but still close to everything you need. It is incredibly peaceful! This is a great place for someone who wants to escape city life and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. Much of the ranch is open wilderness for you to explore, and it's not uncommon to see deer, frogs, turtles, quail, turkeys, or other countless species of birds. Diamond Gulch Camp is the perfect place to relax if you’re a photographer, artist, family or a group of friends looking for a place to camp near Yosemite. A small portion of the property was used as a gold mine years ago, and you may find remnants of old home sites if you go exploring. We have 155 acres of the Sierra foothills just ~12 minutes from downtown Murphys. This is a working farm where we specialize in cut flowers and also grow a little food. There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! -End of The Driveway -1 Pine -2 Pine The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge. The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. A reminder that we are in the country, so the cabin is best suited to those who like a more rustic getaway. There is no AC, television, or microwave. We've gone without a TV and landline, but WiFi means you can stream to your own devices and make WiFi calls on your cell. We have loads of board games and puzzles. The kitchen has pots/pans/kettle, toaster, mini waffle iron, Brita pitcher, and rice cooker. For coffee drinkers, we have a coffee grinder, french press and pour over dripper.  Help yourself to organic coffee and tea! The cabin is mainly heated by a gas fireplace (looks like a wood stove, but does not need wood). We recommend bringing layers and slippers in the winter while the cabin warms up. Like most cabins in the area, there is no AC, but we provide room fans. Cell reception is unreliable throughout the Sierras except for Verizon, however at the cabin, WiFi calls are available through all carriers --to make calls, enable the setting on your cell phone. The cabin comfortably fits 4 people, with 1 bedroom, a sleeping loft (no door) and 1.5 bathrooms. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, and the loft has a full-size mattress and its own half bathroom. We have a flat parking pad instead of a driveway, which makes things easier in the winter months. The rental rate covers a professional cleaning fee and linens and towels! Guests will need to take their garbage and recycling with them to the local refuse center which is on the way out.

The perfect solo escape! Treat yourself to a quiet getaway for one at this cozy, clean and comfortable cabin on our rural farm, between two rivers, on Sherman Island. Located in the eastern San Francisco Bay Area at the confluence of the San Joaquin River, Sacramento River, and the eastern terminus of San Francisco Bay, Sherman Island is known for its wildlife, sunrises, and sunsets, and its dark sky for stargazing opportunities. The property is surrounded by alfalfa fields, grazing cattle, sheep, and a wildland habitat populated with migratory and native birds, animals, and plants. The one-room cabin has a bed and clawfoot bathtub with hot water offering a peaceful escape on our 5-acre tree-lined farm. Here you can listen to birdsong instead of the sounds of the city. This is an ideal cabin for birdwatchers, writers, plein air painters, nature photographers, stargazing, windsurfers/kiteboarders, meditation, or some stress-free, peaceful reset time. The private cottage has a refrigerator, microwave, compostable dinnerware, drinking water, and a coffeemaker with coffee. It is air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter. Pets are welcome and free to enjoy being off-leash in the cabin's fenced yard. The hosts raise free-range chickens and bees on their farm and also conduct a nonprofit rescue and hospice for senior pets. The property is in the Pacific Migratory Flyway, surrounded by a 1000-acre State habitat/preserve populated by wildlife and seasonal birds. Downtown San Francisco and Sacramento are each about 50 miles away in opposite directions. Mount Diablo, viewed from the property, is about 15 miles south and offers hiking trails with stunning views and abundant wildlife. Friday bookings are for a minimum of 2 nights.

We had such a great stay here and would absolutely come back. The standout for me was the bed, it was incredibly comfortable, honestly one of the best nights of sleep I’ve had while traveling. After long days exploring, it felt like sinking into a cloud. Eve and Matt were amazing hosts. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel genuinely welcome, friendly, helpful, and clearly passionate about creating a great experience for their guests. It really sets the tone for the whole stay. The location is also a huge plus. It’s close enough to Yosemite National Park to make day trips easy, but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the crowds. It worked perfectly as a home base for exploring the area. Overall, this place strikes that rare balance between comfort and nature. If you’re looking for a relaxing, welcoming spot near Yosemite with a seriously comfortable bed, this is it.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

We had THE MOST amazing stay at The Painted lake cabin. Like every single review here, this place is so inviting and is full of warmth. The animals, the lake and the hosts themselves make the overall experience so worth it. Bathrooms were clean and the hot showers were functional. We are a big fan of Painted Lake and will 100% recommend it. We will definitely go again :)

Weekend Trip to Diamond Gulch

4th time staying at Diamond Gulch. Super comfy place to crash with a deck that faces direction of sunset. Plenty if bedding to stay warm. I was just crashing for the night but saw there were a variety of supplies, including a heater, camp stove, and essentials. Heed the rule of no leaving food in the tent, or critters will try to come in (I saw repaired damage from previous guests.) Lots of nature signs, birds and squirrel chatter. This space is very comfy.

3rd time staying here, basic tent with cots, deck, chairs, and a firepit. Makes camping a bit simpler but having to set up a tent. Cots are firm, if you prefer sleeping on something soft, bring a pad or air cushion. Clean tent. Plenty of wood for the fire.

1 night at Angels Hideaway

I took my dog here for a night away as she doesn’t have much time left, and we spent the entire time sitting in front of the fireplace. I read to her. We listened to the rain, cuddled, and just really tried to be present though the hard stuff. The yurt had everything you need to enjoy a stay there. Comfy bed and while it did get cold, keeping the fire going for my dog was great while enjoying it from the comfy couch. The neighbor dogs did bark a lot from 9pm-1am. Other than that, we heard owls, and other birds and it was quiet. The outhouse was clean and the shower would have been nice, but with it raining so hard I didn’t try it. Very easy directions. Super beautiful area. Would love to return with friends when warmer to enjoy it in a different way. Very glad my dog and I got to experience the adventure together in a cozy spot.

Weekend Trip to The Painted Lake

The remote, rustic feel of the grounds combined with the luxury of a handcrafted bungalow was truly unique. The panorama of the lake through mature oak trees was magical. The kayaks and privacy of the lake made this a one of a kind opportunity. We highly recommend this experience to all who enjoy the unkempt wild of nature, glamping at it's finest, and are comfortable with moderate physical activity. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower feature.

A wonderful, welcoming, space. The little Wilderness Bridge Cabin was very cozy— the bedding had that nostalgic smell like my grandparents home. Kind of need to pole vault yourself up on to the bed but it’s worth it. Views are pristine and we even caught a powerful lightning and thunderstorm perfectly framed by the large windows overlooking the gulch. The dogs rustle around outside below the cabin at night as your furry guardians, so don’t worry, it’s not a mountain lion looking to eat you or your treats. You’ll get used to the noises. The bathrooms and showers are super neat and that cedar smell is still very strong. Poo with a view, check! The shared kitchen space has everything you need for fun food creations and groovy people to boot sharing the space after a fun days work on the homestead. Well water on property is delicious! 40 minutes from Yosemite entrance. Nice market in Groveland, Mar-Val and a cool coffee/gardening place in town also, Mountain Sage. Would definitely return to pet all the dogs. Matt, Eve and the crew made us feel very at home!

2 nights at Unplug for nature, dogs, and kids

If you want to get away from city noise and screens for a few days, this is the place to go. There is plenty to do at the cabin to keep you and kids (and the dog) entertained for a couple of days. Lots of games, a forest zipline (awesome according to the kids), places to sit and just relax. You can also set up an outdoor movie (which we did), and the film library is extensive. Beautiful tall trees all around. You need nothing, everything is here. Kitchen has all you need to be able to cook either in the cabin kitchen or over the campfire. Thank you Steven and Michelle for making this place such an "all-inclusive-get-away" place!

Absolutely loved our stay! I have a 13 inch beagle and I thought I would have to tether her the entire stay because the description says it is not fenced. Come to my surprise, it was able to be enclosed that my pup couldn’t find a way out. If she were any smaller she probably would have been able to get through the metal fence. It was so nice being able to let her roam freely. We loved being in sync with the sun and the moon and stargazing from the hot tub! It was perfect for what we were looking for! The neighborhood is lovely, there is even a small farm stand down the street where we were able to purchase some local eggs.

We loved staying at Wondernut Farm!! Our cabin was perfect and had everything we could need, and the view from inside was gorgeous...awesome for catching moonlight views at bedtime and seeing the sun rise over the farm. The resident animals (including the most epic friendly dog crew!!) were all so much fun to be around, and Matt, Eve and the other people there were all lovely, and very welcoming to young children. Our bed was super comfy, and the shower was warm and spacious with a great view. We'll definitely be back next chance we get!

We couldn’t have asked for a better first Hipcamp experience than Kat and Steve’s Fox’s Hideout. It was the perfect glamping getaway and a charming, peaceful escape from city life. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth. Kat and Steve made us feel less like guests and more like family. Their thoughtfully built property is clearly a labor of love and embodies everything you’d hope for in a family-run retreat. Our kids had an absolute blast! Between the trampoline and the tree rope swing, the experience felt magical and wholesome—especially with petals gently falling from the trees as they played. Do not skip the pastry add‑on! Kat and Steve previously owned a bakery, and waking up to generous, warm cherry turnovers, and other pastries was an incredible treat. The accommodations were no frills but comfortable. Even the small details stood out, like their well water that tasted better than bottled. Located close to San Francisco, Fox Hideout is an easy, worthwhile getaway, and we fully intend to return. Kat and Steve are wonderful hosts whose property reflects the true heart and pride they put into it. Highly recommended!
