4 nights at Banner Mountain Camp

This was such a lovely spot! If we ever find ourselves back in the area, we would definitely stay again! Siobhan was lovely, kind, and communicative, and she shares so many of her amenities with guests! We thought the summer time weather was a bit too hot to try out her sauna, but if we were there in the winter?? What a treat! We did take her up on the use of her laundry machine. We have solar panels and while we weren’t able to get *quite* enough sun to be sustainable in a long-term way, we had enough for the few days we were there and were able to supplement with the electrical hookups she provided. This spot is also walking distance to a trail and very close to lots of other cool outdoor things! We jumped in rivers, went white water rafting, hiked, and biked while there! All amazing!

Weekend Trip to The Black Oak Forest

Loved the spot, had the essentials that we needed, like a grill, bathroom, running water, tables, fire pit. We had the spot to ourselves. It was like a 14 minute drive to the river, a bunch of activities to do like fishing, rafting, swimming, etc. I would come back again. Also there are places to eat near by the river.

2 nights at The Black Oak Forest

Great large site with electric and water hookups, a mini fridge, fire pit and free firewood! PLUS a large tent already set up and ready for use! Two large picnic tables, several chairs and an outdoor sink. The toilet facility is a porta-potty that, while super clean, felt like a sauna, lol! Bring a hand fan…? Also, the site is just off the road, so you will hear the traffic, but it is not a very busy street. Turn in at the first driveway AFTER the listed address; the entire area you pull into is the site. Great for a large group. There’s no cell service, but there is wi-fi available. You’re surrounded by trees; it’s a lovely forest hideaway.

Near lots of cool Lake Tahoe spots! Our campground neighbors were all friendly, as was the staff! Recommend if needing some level ground to park your rig on near Lake Tahoe!

Weekend Trip to Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

we had a great stay for our evening under the trees. A beautiful, serene site. Kelley, the host is wonderful. We didn’t have enough time to use the sauna, but I would definitely recommend booking that if you’re into that type of thing.

14 nights at Banner Mountain Camp

Siobhan’s place was great! It was super quiet yet still a 10 minute drive into either Nevada City or Grass Valley. Both towns are wonderful, artsy little places with good food and interesting wares. Siobhan was always quick to respond when I needed something. There was laundry and trash disposal on site which was great. Also a sauna but I didn’t use it. Siobhan provided WiFi but I found it only worked for Netflix if you let it buffer a while. I couldn’t do basic internet browsing or video calls with her WiFi, but I was able to get decent Verizon service using my hotspot. Starlink wouldn’t work at all because there are too many trees in the spot. On the positive side, this creates some shade for hotter days. Overall, a great spot for exploring the area!

2 nights at Bright Bear Camp in Tahoe NF

Outstanding host and campsite. Super easy to find a few miles off 80. Great description of Kelley’s land and direction. We stayed at site3 which is next to the “house”. Big enough for our Sprinter van and bike rack (about 23 feet). Kelley is the perfect blend of helpful and non intrusive. There are 2 ports potties- one inside a building with a sink and one outside in a potty tent( nicer then it sounds lol!) the camp is all solar Powered. We plugged into the system for about an hour (just ask 1st) to run our van battery back to 100 percent. There was water as well but we didn’t need it . Outdoor shower. Outdoor sink for washing dishes. She brought us a thermocell for mosquitos which was really helpful! Pay the $60 to use the sauna. What a treat! It’s heated with firewood and has a cold plunge bucket outside. Big enough for 2-3. She even brought us towels for sauna. We hiked along the bear river which is beautiful and there was an official hiking trail where the road connects with Hwy 20. So peaceful and lovely ! Adorable eve lights that illuminate paths around camp. There are some swinging Adirondack chairs too. We would absolutely stay here again. It took us about 30 minutes to Truckee and one hour to Tahoe city /sunnyside area. Dog was very welcomed and loved it too. Things to note: it is 2 miles down a dirt road . Bring what you need or rent from Kelley. There were some very cute tent/car camping spaces on site as well. Highly recommend this gem

We loved staying here! The campsite had a great view! It was remote and quiet, even with other guests nearby. The bathroom is so nice and the hot tub was a special touch, especially after paddle boarding. It would be tight for 8 people, but worked for 2 tents. We can’t wait to return!

Weekend Trip to RockNWater Cove Camping

Really beautiful place that's got a great layout. If you have kids and can swing it, I would recommend bringing bikes since there is plenty of safe dirt road riding and bikes make it easy to get back and forth to the river when it's super hot. Bring a small shade umbrella for the beach! All the sites are large and have beautiful views. Kris and Paul were really great about making sure folks had music off and were quiet by 10PM. Oh, river shoes are a MUST.

I have owned this property since 1999. It was built in 1953. Penn Valley is so named because this is where the pens were that they brought the cattle to sort and ship to Sacramento for auction. This property was the lodging area and still has one old bunkhouse, which is a current rental. It has the oldest, largest in ground pool left in Nevada County. The water rights have been with this property for over 80 years so sprinklers run all summer. We have great well water for the house and our campers. I currently breed stock dogs, and Dexter cattle here and ride and train horses. I have ridden and trained horses for over 50 years. It is a pretty active place with lots of work and coming and going. We do chores at about 8 am. Horses frogs and dogs are majority of disturbances. It is close to everything but in a very small community. No lodging near though. The horticulture here is very old, some originally brought from England. Most of it is let grow natural. There are two coffee houses nearby, Honey and Cream and Crazy 4 Yogurt. It is a 30 minute drive to the river. It is a 15 minute drive to historic Nevada City and beautiful downtown Grass Valley with wonderful shopping, local bars and both fine and casual dining. Empire Mine is a an exquisite park and historical site only 10 min away. Spenceville Wildlife Refuge is a great day adventure also. Guests are welcome to watch us work horses and take care of animals. We have 4 barn cats too. Things run pretty old school here still and casual. We enjoy our work, our animals, our simple life, nature and the land. Learn more about this land: Level small working horse ranch, pool, near all recreation in northern California. Rural setting big lawns, garden, barn, horses and lots of activity. Feeding animals, clients coming and going etc. Walking distance to restaurants, park, shops e.t.c but rural. Site is near house secluded.

You reach our four acre property after a stunning drive along a scenic highway. In the winter and spring everything is blanketed in green that gives way to wildflowers and golden hills in the summer. We are located two miles from the Lake Oroville Lime Saddle launch ramp where you can find spots to swim or launch your boat for a fun day at the lake. Hiking trails and a variety of outdoor activities are available nearby. Table Mountain State recreation area, a great place to view wildflowers and waterfalls in the spring, is five miles away. Take a drive up highway 70 along the Scenic Feather River and view the lake as well as the majesty of the canyon. We are just 15 - 20 minutes from towns in three directions so restaurants, museums and shopping are all within an easy drive. At the top of our property you will find a grass volleyball court, and a batting cage to keep you busy while you are at your campsite. Other outdoor games are also available. The views of the valley at sunset are spectacular. The lower portion of our property is home to a seasonal creek that supports wild blackberry bushes as well as other wild plants and flowers. The property is home to numerous trees as well. The blackberries are usually ripe for a couple of weeks from late June to early July and are delicious. The wild grapes usually ripen in September. Obviously I can't control when the fruit ripens, but you are welcome to help yourself if it is ripe when you are visiting. We have 4 large sites with full hook ups as well as space for smaller trailers if you are traveling as a group and need some extra space. The blackberries have thorns. The area is rural so naturally we have wildlife, including bears, bobcats, mountain lions, deer and rattlesnakes. While we rarely see any of our furry friends you should be aware that they do wander through from time to time. We also have dogs. They have collars to keep them away from your space, but if you wander the property be aware they do too. We are located on the corner of Pentz / Highway 70. They are not busy roads, particularly in the evening, but they do have a fair amount of traffic in the daytime. Overall the area is very quiet and peaceful. Please help us respect our neighbors by abiding by quiet hours.

We are surrounded by four lakes, with Sly Creek and Lost Lake Reservoirs being the closest (about 3 mi. north of us), two major rivers and Feather Falls, the 3rd largest waterfall in California. Outdoor activities abound with fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking trails and mountain biking trails. You can also explore the local rivers and try your luck at gold panning. Our park is primarily divided into three areas: (1) we have 7 dedicated RV sites for weekend RV's that have full hook-ups, which include 30/50 amp. electric, water and septic connection (no pull through sites); (2) an area in the middle of the park where permanent residents live; and (3) a large area for volleyball, lounging, and playground on the opposite side of the park. Sorry, but due to the always present fire danger, no wood burning fires are allowed. You may use your own propane fire ring or propane or charcoal grill. We have clean laundry and showers and flush toilets on the north side of the park. There is one shower and one flush toilet for each men and women that are handicapped accessible. Showers cost $1 for 12 minutes of hot water. Cell phone service is spotty. AT&T/Cricket and sometimes Verizon work the best. We now have free Wi-Fi in the park! Quail Ridge RV Park is very pet friendly, and we have a beautiful new dog park for our 4-footed friends. However, we cannot accept aggressive breed dogs, or Pit-Bull mixed dogs (sorry, but our insurance company restricts these breeds). Please identify the dog breed when you are making a reservation.
