WILDLIFE PARADISE
Wildlife and waterfowl are abundant here. In fact, the area is a migratory capital for ducks, geese & egrets. Farmlands are everywhere as well as orchards, (we are located in farmland, so you may hear nearby farm equipment or irrigation pumps — these are part of the surrounding landscape and are not part of our property.) ponds, marsh, creeks & sometimes winter puddles. Tall oaks, black walnuts, cottonwoods, and willows offer their timeless beauty and shade. Summer climate brings blue skies & warm daily temperatures of 85-105 degrees with cooler evenings. Color paints a pretty spring with orchard blossoms & wildflowers, and fall arrives with autumn brilliance. Winter skies fill with snow geese creating a most spectacular view. Bring your camera!
FANTASTIC FISHING
Can you say BIG FISH? Striped bass, sturgeon, shad, king salmon, and catfish. have all been caught near Lovey's. Check out the photos of some of our favorite people and their fish. While fishing isn’t available directly from the property, the river offers fantastic opportunities for those who want to cast a line nearby.

We have an organic garden you can help yourself to, outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen area. We are close to many lakes that offer, kayaking, fishing, boating and swimming. There are many local farmers markets as close as 1/2 mile. Wildlife on property and hiking trails. Blackberries are ripe in July and the garden vegetables come in from May to October. Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm.
The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons.

Camping here is a semi-primitive experience, since there is no bathroom, and no garbage service. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat.
Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area.
If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur.
The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

The farm was such a great place to stopover in our travels! My dog loved the open space to run around and explore all while being totally fenced in. The site was cute, with a picnic table, swing and running water. We took the drive down to the river (4wd needed) and the swimming hole was magical. Didn’t swim but definitely a place to be in the summer! Camp host was super helpful and quick to respond with knowledge of the road down to the river. We had a great time and would love to come back again!

We found Anne's place without any issues and it was easy to get setup. Anne offered some things to do in the region and was helpful. We especially enjoyed the remote feel of the property and the various farm animals and wildlife. We biked to the Yuba River on a road that was near the property. Next time we visit Nevada City we will stay with Anne if available.

Perfect space for family camping trip. Water, electricity, and wifi available 🤩 Jason, our host, was very accommodating and answered any questions we had. This spot is also close to a really nice lake! About 15-20 min walk to the lake or 5min by car.

What a great campground! Plenty of space for you and your friends to set up tents with enough space in between for privacy even! Porta-potty was clean and well-maintained. Plenty of branches and wood you can grab around for a campfire, and you can even buy some from Jason if you prefer the convenience. Easy to find and great communication with Jason as well. And access to the cute lake is definitely a plus!
Love the outdoor shower as well but the addition of a small curtain for extra privacy would be extra perfect!
All in all it was a great home base for our Winnemuca lake hike; highly recommended!

Jason was an awesome host and the site was great. Plenty of space for people to spread out their tents. We had about 10, feel like you could have at least 20 easy. Plenty of firewood available, ac power, water, clean porta potty also available. The fire pit is kinda close to one of the houses on the property but it doesn’t feel intrusive at all. All the tent spots are very secluded. Jason’s lake permit turned out to be super handy. Even when day use was full, we were let right in with the pass. Jason was super helpful with giving tips on where to go on the lake or nearby restaurants etc. We had a great time at the lake during the day and partied through the night at the campsite. Jason was so chill and friendly. If you have a large group of people you’re trying to get together for a camping party, this is a great spot to do it at.

Mary from Personal Creekside Camping was a gracious, kind, and informative host at our recent Hip Camp stay. Ideally located next to a relaxing creek loaded with blackberries, it was spacious and shaded. Her camp is ideally situated near Penn Valley and about 20 minutes from Grass Valley. The sky is dazzling with stars! Mary shared her experiences and recommended local spots to check out. Mountain Ranch Winery is a mere ten minute drive and if you don’t stop by to taste and engage with Bob, well you’ll miss out on a local gem and enlightened conversation. Be sure to check them out. The valley and surrounding area is full of friendly people, nature, culture, and great food. You won’t be disappointed with Mary and her property.

What a great three days we spent onJason’s land. I really needed a restful mini vacation with my dog, and Jason’s policy of renting to only one group at a time meant we had the entire campground to ourselves. The woods are beautiful and peaceful, and they provide just enough in the way of amenities to make camping really easy and comfortable. One note for those traveling with dogs: the lake that you can hike to doesn’t allow dogs to swim, so while it’s a great hike and a beautiful lake, don’t count on it for relief from the heat for your dog if you camp in hot weather. We drove an hour to South Lake Tahoe one day when it was projected to be 93 in Pollock Pines.

Great place to relax and unwind! The property was spacious and quiet with the most amazing sunsets. Ann was very friendly and accommodating, letting us know about great places to visit in the area. The temperature was pretty warm the weekend we visited so we spent ample time cooling down in the local water holes at Bridgeport and Jones Bar during the days. The wide open space also made stargazing at night quite delightful. Definitely recommend!

Ann’s hobby farm was an excellent place to stay and play. We made the 16 drive into Nevada City times for the coffee/cocktail scene and it was a lot of fun. We also made the 2 mile trek down to Jones Bar for an incredible dip in the beautiful Yuba-Sutter River. Overall great experience!

Jason was the best host ever, I never leave reviews but the way he went out of his way to make us feel welcome and at home he deserves 10000/100 review. The campsite was great, tons of different spaces for tents we had 13 tents and our group had about 20 adults plus a few kids and it was more than enough space. Not too far from the lake, great outdoor space for hiking as well. There was showers, bathroom, fire pit, fire wood, he provided trash bags, toilet paper and so much more. If you’re looking for a great camping space for a large group this is the place and Jason is the best!

I love camping on Jason’s land. It feels very private and safe. I can leave all of my equipment there and go to the lake without worrying about whether my gear will be there when I return.
The hose and outlet right near the camping table is super convenient. I also appreciated the firewood provided so we didn’t have to haul any with us.
However, the best thing about camping on Jason’s land is the host. Forgot something? Just ask, he might have it. Need local information? He has that too. And he is very easy to communicate with. I definitely recommend camping at Jason’s place.

Great place! Mary was very kind, and it was an awesome camping experience with our toddler. I bit hot in the middle of the day (mid June, to be expected) so bring ice and a pop up tent for extra shade if you can. Great experience - would recommend!
