This camp is ideal for those that want to be off the beaten path ... on the road less traveled yet conveniently located less than 10 minutes from Mt Shasta and 5 minutes to Weed. The Camp is on 10 pristine acres in the Hammond Ranch area with a beautiful view of Mt Shasta to the East. 25' RVs with tow car OK, Sprinter Vans/ Class C with tow car OK/Class B/ Trailer 25' with tow OK. If you have a car in tow please go to the top of the driveway at the loop and remove the car in tow before entering the driveway to the Hip Camp. If you are a bit longer just text us and we can see if it can work. All campers must be self contained with holding tanks. NO TENT CAMPING. This camp is for SELF CONTAINED RVs. If you arrive without your own toilet you will be asked to leave. Doggies are allowed and should be leased for the safety of wildlife. All pets must sleep in your RV. There are many critters out at night! There is a 20 AMP electric hook up to power. YOU CAN NOT RUN AN AIR CONDITIONER...AC.... ON A 20 AMP CONNECTION. You can use your own generator system to run AC for your trailer, motorhome or van. Generators hours are 8AM to 9PM. lease be respectful of our quiet space and only run generators when necessary. The camp is by a beautiful Zinnia garden which blooms in the summer and a small orchard which is all fenced in. The property is wooded and has a view of Mt Shasta from the camp. The camp has a picnic table, two outdoor chairs, WE ARE UNDER CAMPFIRE RESTRICTIONS AT THIS TIME. NO CAMPFIRES WILL BE ALLOWED. Please ask upon your arrival if restrictions have been lifted. There is a cool soaking tub available to beat the heat during the summer months! After confirmation of your reservation we will contact you with local information on places to see as you explore the area and our favorite places to shop and eat out. There are several walks right from the Camp to a beautiful pond and hill walks for panoramic views. All dirt roads... so great mountain bike exploring! You will be surrounded by beautiful large Ponderosa Pines, wild flowers and White Fir trees. There is open sky for star gazing and no lights to obstruct your sky views. This is a very quiet area that is visited by deer, bears, many species of birds, eagles, owls, rabbits, fox, hawks and more. Happy Camping!!!

Shasta View Campsites are part of a former 30,000 acre ranch that was split up into smaller parcels in the 1970's. It is comprised of 5 to 500 acre parcels. All these parcels are homesteads. There are no commercial or industrial areas on the Ranch. In 2005, I started looking for land in the Shasta area after falling in love with the Mountain and it's surrounding lakes. I have always known exactly what the land I would spend time on would look like. One day, in 2006, I was driving on the Hammond Ranch, again hoping I would find that place. I was driving my van, with my 2 kids and some of our friends, through a heavily wooded area. I made a left turn down a dusty dirt road and Eureka! I had found IT. I was at the top of a 60 acre meadow that had a full unobstructed view of Mt. Shasta, encircled by lenticular clouds. I told a friend of mine, who was at the time a realtor in the Shasta area, that I had found a piece of land that looks perfect to me. If, that is, it also had a creek on it. She did some searching around and found out that the land that is now Shasta View was in fact for sale. And, it had a creek on it. And it was comprised of some acreage in the meadow and some in the trees. This was everything I had wanted. I bought the land within the next 2 weeks. After camping on the land a few times, I started to understand where the best sites would be to build some structures. Because the meadow always has a certain amount of moisture to the ground, it is not suitable for building a structure. The good thing about that, is that nobody who owns land in that meadow will ever build there. We will only be looking at Mt. Shasta from that meadow. Never a building. The platform I built in the meadow offers on a chance to sleep under the stars. Billions of them. My property is only one of two that have old, large Cedar and Pine trees on it. It made perfect sense that I would be building a small house in those trees. While camping on this land, you will find exquisite beauty and solitude. Within 30 minutes, you will find Lake Siskiyou and Castle Lake for some of the finest swimming around. If you fish, the McCloud and the Sacramento rivers offer some of the best trout fishing in the state. There are two “Blue Ribbon” designated streams. The first is Upper Sacramento River. It starts as a trickle from the melting snows of Mt Shasta and by the time it reaches the area around the town of Dunsmuir which is just south of Shasta City, it is a true “Blue Ribbon” designated trout stream. The place to find all the ins and outs of fly fishing in this area is at the Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop in Dunsmuir. The second “Blue Ribbon” trout fishing is on the McCloud River. Historically some of the best trout fishing to be found. I have fished both these streams and always caught fish. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING IF YOU'LL BE SLEEPING IN THE TREEHOUSE. And need I say anything about hiking on Mt. Shasta?

(November Through March) Winter is a beautiful time to visit and is a different experience than Summer. We do our best to keep the campground open to RV guests all year, (Tent Sites Closed in Winter) but there are some challenges. We wanted to make sure you are aware that during the Winter months, when below freezing temperatures are likely, some of the amenities that we offer in the Summer season are not available in the winter. • In most of the sites, the WATER is OFF due to the potential for frozen pipes. Site 29, 30, 32 & 33 do have water and Site #31 is reserved for guests to fill their water tanks as needed. • The Camp Store has very limited hours. • Please visit the Gift Shop at our Caboose lodging area. • The Restrooms are closed as the water is shut off. • If we get heavy snow, the campground will have limited access until we can move snow. 4 Wheel drive and or chains are highly recommended during times of snowfall. • Electricity, Cable and Internet are still available. Please feel free to use the Hot Tub at the Caboose Lodging area but the pool is closed. LOCATION Located alongside quiet Little Castle Creek at the base of Castle Crags, our 45-unit RV park and campground offer creek side camping in the tall pines. Our location is easy to get to and from the I-5 and is two miles from the Castle Crags section of the Pacific Crest Trail. We’re just off Exit 728 at Railroad Park Road. Splash in the front pond, wade in Little Castle Creek, breathe in the fresh mountain air and relax in the natural beauty of this striking setting. SITE SPECS There are many RV hook-up sites with easy pull-throughs. We can accommodate your RVs up to 55 feet. Most sites have 30-amp electrical hook-ups and some designated sites accommodate up to 50 amps. Wi-Fi is available to most campsites on our new High-Speed WiFi system. We are constantly working to upgrade this system but there is no guarantee of its operating status or available bandwidth. It has been pretty reliable after our last upgrade. Each FHU RV Site has a TV connected to our new 48 Channel, Digital, DirecTV system. Some TV’s are not compatible with our MP4 Digital System and some guests have difficulty configuring their RV/TV system. We have some troubleshooting tips that give 95% of our RV guests access to our TV System but there are no guarantees. DINE IN A RAILROAD CAR The Dining Car Restaurant is one of the most interesting restaurants in Dunsmuir, CA. Built inside authentic, vintage railroad cars, the restaurant is a museum itself. Inside its antique cars is an atmosphere steeped in nostalgia. Antique hand tools, gauges, pictures, signals and other artifacts recall the glory days of railroading in the west and specifically the Dunsmuir and McCloud area. Above the bar is a hand built scale replica of the Southern Pacific Cascade, which once plied the rails between San Francisco and Portland. Enjoy your favorite cocktail or a specialty drink. In the warmer months, relax on our patio deck and gaze up at the view of Castle Crags. The Dining Car Restaurant offers an experience unlike other restaurants in Dunsmuir. Tommie is literally the best! Such a kind, loyal and hard working person. The vision he has for this campground is GLORIOUS and I WILL be back to experience it. The views of the Mountain are incredible, Pluto's cave nearby, and his dogs are so sweet! Tommie also was kind enough to fill my 5 gallon jug with water from his well and it was DELICIOUS! Affordable, great vibes, and good conversation while there. If you are a super duper light sleeper wear headphones or ear plugs because the nearby animals (chickens and dogs) at other properties really made themselves known!

One of our favorite camp spots after a 2 week road trip! We chose to stay right on the creek which was beautiful, but there are a ton of different spots to choose from. There were 3 other campers that we never saw or heard. Clean bathroom was available. Host was great and shared so much with us about his property. The best part was walking to the hot springs - a super quick and easy walk. We had it all to ourselves. Wish we could've spent more time here!

I stayed here 30 year ago. It's just the same. Great view in nature and novelty. Don't expect to cook outside in the summer though. I called ahead to see if it was OK and they said yes, then at the site they said no. Also the restaurant is closed on weird days and so are town restaurants.

Great place -- it is a beautiful and relaxing campground with a number of private sites near river -- would be nice to have some more picnic tables but the host Scott was great and told us he is working on that. Hot springs are great (it was too hot for them) and we enjoyed spending time at Iron Canyon Reservoir. Host was very kind and responsive. We enjoyed it and would go back. Dogs loved it too.

Cool little camp area, very hot! But worth it. The creek and river spots made the camping trip! Campsites are spread out. Pretty private. The outhouses could be dumped but other than that we were super stoked to be able to experience one of the most magical river spots and hot springs. Would go again in the cooler months.

Our property is located along a small creek with some dipping holes and a nice shaded creek to play in, there are great swimming holes near by to explore. We have a 21 hole professional disc golf course on the property as well as a gas station and The Salmon River Saloon (which is currently open by reservation only). We can accommodate large groups, however there are extra fees because have to bring in extra bathrooms. Disc golf course fees are included in camping fees. Note, the Salmon River road from Somes Bar to Cecilville is a one lane road with 2 way traffic and not recommended for those pulling trailer unless you are up for an adventure come via HWY 3 through Weaverville with a trailer if you are coming from the coast. Please note we are completely off Grid, there is no Cell service within 50 miles of the location.

We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

We are the place If you are looking for a spot to do quiet camping, no loud music being played. This is a retreat We’re trying to create with a very majestic tone. We have views of the mountain with lots of trails to explore. There is a Buddhist monastery adjacent to McGuinness Springs That is on national Forest land, this is a very precious area. Please be aware that we will have the boundaries of our 10 acres marked and that private property surrounds us on three sides with one side being national forest. we do ask that you stay well on our property or in the national forest to respect and preserve our neighbors land, as our neighbors have no houses or buildings are rarely present if ever. If you are turning onto a dirt road without a sign....you are on the wrong road. Juniper Valley Spur is my short culdesac road with a road sign and a locked green pipe rail gate at the end. We have 3 RV sites available for campers to book. Please note that we do not have RV hookups for any of the sites. You will be parking on loose gravel and the sites are relatively flat. We can accommodate most RVs/trailers, if you are uncertain about the size just send me a message. There is a portapotty in the hay barn cleaned regularly and a water spigot for non-potable water uses. There is no shower available but you could wash off hands and feet if desired with the hose. Pets are allowed at campsites #2 and #3 only. These campsites are farthest from the horses and dogs. Please keep dogs on leash at all times. Our property offers a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. Nature lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, family vacationers and retirees, can all enjoy the vast recreational opportunities this area has to offer. Lake Siskiyou is about 20 miles south and offers a wonderful 7-mile hiking trail around the entire lake.
