Welcome to our Hipcamp location in Siskiyou County, situated on the foot of the majestic Mount Shasta. The best view of Mount Shasta (Root Chakra) in the County is included in your stay. We are a fun-loving group of outdoor enthusiasts who are passionate about sharing our love for adventure with our guests. Tommie is a world traveling professional whitewater raft guide. (Ask about a trip.) A professional backcountry freestyle snowmobile rider, snowboarder,slalom water-skier, wake-boarder, inventor, entrepreneur and party animal. Our location boasts a state-of-the-art auto shop, equipped to help anyone traveling with any mechanical issues (Even if you are not a booked guest). We also offer a variety of workshops to teach our guests various skills such as building a small cabin or a 10,000 sq. ft. custom handcrafted log home. We'll teach you how to use a scribing tool to fit logs together, make log furniture, and grow food. We even have raised bed designs with high tunnels for year-round gardening, and we teach cloning methods for healthier plants, composting, and making custom soil designed to your specific needs. If you're interested in Permaculture, Hugelkultur, or Aquaponics, we've got you covered. We are certified. We'll teach you everything you need to know about properly using chainsaws (non-operating), including instruction on using an Alaskan Mill. For those interested in firearms (without ammunition) or crossbows, we'll teach you cleaning, maintenance, and safety. If you have no clue about mechanics, “You should” out there doing all this traveling. We even offer a workshop on small engines to big engines maintenance and repair, as well as the use of diagnostics and the necessary tools. For those who want to take things to the next level, we offer a 1-hour crash course on the maintenance, safety, and operation of a Bobcat E45 excavator. Our location is surrounded by breathtaking outdoor scenery, including a variety of rivers, lakes, and museums. We are proud of the Native history in the area.

Tommie is a great host. So welcoming and helpful. I felt safe as a single woman camping on his property. Beautiful view of My Shasta. Wonderful lava well water to drink. Nice outdoor shower that worked most of the time. Very quiet. Cons: port-a-potty, nobody likes them. On really hot days there isn’t a whole lot of shade. Trees are shorter in that terrain. I would camp at Tommie’s again.

Tommie is an incredible host and provides such a welcoming experience. We camped out for a few days with my wife and little one and I can honestly say I’ve never had a more pleasant experience on hipcamp . Tommie is very communicative and mindful for all his guests and all possible needs . His dogs are amazing and kept our 4 yr old entertained for hours ! The view of the stars and mt Shasta are incredible and location is perfect. Plutos cave was a wonder to see as well and only 5 minutes away! No doubt coming to stay here next time we are in Shasta !

Tommie was awesome! He was very attentive and kind. Gave us everything we needed and more. He let us meet his animals (dogs, cats, rooster, duck)! He gave us a detailed history about the area and pointed out landmarks on Mt. Shasta. We (2 girls) felt very safe here. Can’t wait to see all he does with the place, we will need to come back. Also! We told him about the concert we were headed to the next day, and he came back after listening to the band and gave a full review, it was very sweet.

Tommie is literally the best! Such a kind, loyal and hard working person. The vision he has for this campground is GLORIOUS and I WILL be back to experience it. The views of the Mountain are incredible, Pluto's cave nearby, and his dogs are so sweet! Tommie also was kind enough to fill my 5 gallon jug with water from his well and it was DELICIOUS! Affordable, great vibes, and good conversation while there. If you are a super duper light sleeper wear headphones or ear plugs because the nearby animals (chickens and dogs) at other properties really made themselves known!

This place was not the right fit for me. It was in a neighborhood with many properties littered with piles of tired vehicles and other debris, and tarped gates with No Trespassing signs. The HipCamp was no exception, although the gate was open upon my arrival and I did manage to locate the site eventually. The host was friendly and responsive on the HipCamp app.

Tommie’s a community minded builder with tons of great stories. The property is already pleasant in terms of location but I think it’ll be even nicer in a year. The camp dogs are total sweethearts. I got lots of lovely time to read but never felt lonely.

Tommy, the owner was very kind and considerate. I had a change of plans and could not keep my reservation, and he was very accommodating to my circumstances. It's a boutique type of property on a private residence with a large parcel of land. It can be challenging to find in the dark so I would suggest arriving before dark.

Stayed one night, traveling back home over labor day weekend. Tommie was a great host. He greated us, guided us to our site, showed us around, answered all of our questions and then gave us our privacy for the evening. Great view of Mt Shasta. Zero light pollution, which makes for a great night time show in the sky. Saw the Milky Way and every star visible. There is a lot of work being put into the site right now and during the day, it's obvious things are being worked on (which when they are done, the place will be amazing). Evening and night, with that sunset and stars, while sitting at your site, you don't notice it because your eyes are on your site and looking upward. Thank you Tommie, we had a a good night.

Portal Potty

Place is under construction (which I personally enjoy), probably not for too much longer, but be aware. This is a place of vision, hosts are making something special. This is the essence of Hipcamp - a spot you would never find otherwise, with spectacular views, and laid out and decorated by interesting and capable people. Will definitely return to see their progress - Thanks!

Tommie is an absolute gem! He was so completely accommodating! He has a tremendous passion for community and for living Off the grid. I feel like I got an education along with my camping trip and walk away feeling like I want to move in that direction myself. I am a single mother and have two girls and so camping can be hard, so his attention to detail and my needs was incredible! The campsite itself is magical and I can’t wait to go back with an entire crew of people and rent out every single spot. He is currently building a moat/pawn where he’s going to place a vintage sailboat/pirate ship for families to stay in and a swimming area for the children. He has two dogs that were so sweet and my girls played with them all week. The campsite is just one mile away from Pluto‘s cave, if you’re coming to Mount Shasta to “make contact.” Just a few minutes drive to most waterfalls and lakes, but my five-year-old was so in love with the campsite and the dogs that she just wanted to get back to camp every day. My girls and I also dance and did meditation and photography up on his platform called the “Orbshire”.” The campsite has a direct view of mount shasta. Tommie cares about you getting everything you hoped for from your camping trip! The site had a hammock and water for washing dishes, and the water he provides is straight from the mountain and is crystal clear, ice cold, and pure to drink. Definitely will be coming back here again, and I rarely return to the same place teice.

2 28/29Fs road tripping to Oregon and needed a place to sleep for the night. For one night, $20 was amazing. We did see in the description that the property was under construction but didn’t realize everything was currently sand/dirt and where the tent was suppose to go was covered in hay. There was no running water anywhere and the porta potty was locked. They locked the gate- the only way in and out as campers- at night which could feel either safe or scary depending on the kind of person you are. As 2 females, no other campers and no one else on the property that we saw, this felt stressful. I feel if we had been able to meet the camp host, we may have felt different. It’s not on a main road, but I heard cars driving past all night. Also should mention, that while you do get a beautiful view of Mt. Shasta, its not necessarily at the base of it. It was an additional 35-40min drive from the town at the bottom of Mt. Shasta. I’m sure the property owner as great ideas for this camp site and will have a lot to offer in the future, but as is, I would not stay again.
