We're 54 miles from Redding off of 299E, (about 1-1/2 hour drive). DO NOT TAKE ROAD 11 FROM THE NORTH, IT IS CLOSED! PIease try to ignore the "car art" in the Pit River Tribe's Rancheria as you're coming here. Drive right through it, it's no reflection on us. The last mile or so of the road here can be pretty rough, but on arrival, you'll know it's worth the trip! No Cell phone service available here, so it's the perfect opportunity to unplug. We do have a land line up at the house in case of an emergency. Also, if you really need it, WiFi is available at the house.

Fast forward a few years, and 40 acres next door with an abandoned house on the canyon ridge went up for sale. We decided to purchase it and start a homestead there. That 40 acres where we now live was badly abused, and we have been in the process of cleaning up and restoring it. Fortunate for you, the land surrounding the Snug Shack was never abused and is still pristine and beautiful. By camping at the Snug Shack, you help support us in our mission to restore this beautiful place.We named our homestead after the rings of small oak trees that grow here on the ridge.: "Oak Ring Ridge." Our property offers a beautiful view of Mount Shasta. Nature lovers, extreme sports enthusiasts, family vacationers and retirees, can all enjoy the vast recreational opportunities this area has to offer. Lake Siskiyou is about 20 miles south and offers a wonderful 7-mile hiking trail around the entire lake. Bring your horses too. I have a couple of electric-fenced paddocks for visitors.

We are 1 hour from Lassen National Park, close to rivers, waterfalls, hot springs and more! Fisherman and hikers will love this area. The beautiful mountain town of Burney only 20 minutes away with restaurants, old movie theater, bowling alley and a few bars. Burney is famous for Burney Falls, which I highly recommend. Another amazing water feature 25 minutes down Fenders Ferry is Potem Falls, a gorgeous waterfall with an awesome swimming hole, rope swing and you can swim behind the fall.
