Weekend Trip to Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

Really beautiful, well constructed cabins. We slept with the door closed and were really worried about the heat because it was already hot with the door open. It honestly was not unbearable with the fan they provided, we slept great. The stars were stunning. The showers were a great touch! Composting toilet was cleaner than any Porti-potty we’ve ever been in. Cabin 2 was accessible in our Subaru. Loved the stay, will come back again for another Yosemite weekend!

Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

We had a great stay at Robb’s place. Our first two nights the campground was fully booked (or close to it) but the sites are so well spaced you’d never know. It was quiet and we had plenty of space (far more than at some camps). The bathrooms were clean and well maintained and the outdoor shower was awesome. My kids loved it so much they actually wanted to shower. (If you’re a parent of young boys, you know this is not the norm!). The communal kitchen space was also a really nice feature. It was perfect for washing dishes and made clean up so much easier. We also had our two dogs so having access to the dog run area was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here if you want to be near the park but not in the park.

We so enjoyed the painted tent, a spacious and private site. Plenty of shade trees. The hosts were a pleasure to chat with and make you feel welcome. The road in is steep but well graded and was no problem for our VW van. The lake is beautiful and cool. The shoreline is rocky, have good water shoes. The animals are welcoming and the eggs appreciated.

This is a lovely campsite with thoughtfully themed campsites. Michel is a wonderful host and checked in to make sure we were getting settled in our spot. The campsites are large, with plenty of space between them to feel private. The bathrooms were well maintained. Bonus points for the live music on Saturday night. This was our second time camping here and we look forward to many more visits.

Really great spot to camp. We went with a group of 6 and had plenty of space. Michel was super kind and a great host. He gave a great recommendation for a swimming hole about a 15 min drive. The winery onsite was great. The flush toilets and potable water were a little further from the campsites than I expected but the port-o-potties next to the sites were very clean and there was handwashing water next to every one. Would definitely return!

Michel (our host) was warm, welcoming, and eager to help. He clearly cares about making sure every guest has a great experience. Really great Hipcamp! The amenities were excellent, including propane showers (they get very hot!), propane fire pits, and a grill. Lily and her groundskeeper were very helpful and communicated with us every step of the way to make sure we had a great trip! Perfect location as it was just minutes from Murphys and Angels Camp and a short drive to White Pine Lake. We loved tent camping at Shandies and Jesses incredible land!Shandie was very welcoming and gave us a quick run down of the land and some direction. We camped with kids.The campsite is a little at an incline but level in some areas mostly dirt. We had a 6 person and a 4 person tent.I would say it fit two 4 person tents or just the 6 person for this site. there was a picnic table covered by a netted gazebo with a lantern which was nice because we didn’t bring ours. Shandie let us use two umbrellas for a little more shade.The site wasn’t too big but definitely enough room for the 5 of us.They provide a delicious fresh spring tap! We followed a recommended path down our campsite to a beautiful waterfall and natural pools. The scenery and energy of the land was just intoxicating.The natural pools and waterfalls really help you appreciate such a simple pleasure. We saw fish, a turtle, a tiny little green snake and beautiful butterflies/dragonflies.The rocks can be very slippery! We all took precautions but still all fell with water shoes lol.The experience was unforgettable we stayed two nights and the weather was bearable.The day heats up quick but the water and little shaded areas near trees are very refreshing we had a little breeze at times.The night sky was dark and lit with stars!It was beautiful.the sunsets are unforgettable and my kids are already planning a trip to come back next year we want to try out a different site.There’s two fire pits on this site &clean outhouse.

We appreciated the spacious campsites on large oak grassland site with gorgeous views, as well as gentle grazing cows, braying donkey, quail, and bullsfrogs. John was a friendly and welcoming host. Firewood was free and plentyful. Most of the sites are unlabeled, so it appeared to be first come first served as far as selecting a site. Some fire pits have small grates, but most are not really set up for grilling.

Peaceful, quiet stay with nice large sites. It’s so much more than a campsite. The winery is adorable. Wish we’d had more time to taste. We thought we’d take a quick walk, but we became so interested in the art installations, we explored for well over an hour. Michael was an excellent host. He checked in to make sure everything was fine. He provided us with local information on hikes, swimming holes and more. We learned about other NorCal and international areas to explore.

We pride ourselves on blending nature and family camping in a safe, serene environment. We have one bathhouse with flushing toilets and heated showers; additional portables and vault toilets are located throughout the campground for convenience. Important notes: We are off-grid. There is no electricity in the campground with exception of a small solar powered system to operate our entry gate, guest Wi-Fi and intercom. Outlets are not available for guest use. All water is labeled non-potable. Guests may purify/filter at their discretion. Our campground is home to wildlife. You can minimize unwanted encounters by properly storing food and garbage. We have one central bathhouse with 3 flushing toilets. Sites vary in distance from a short walk to a short drive. The bathhouse has 4 shower stalls in the rear of the building. The bathhouse is closed from 10pm to 8am. The bathhouse does not have electricity or interior lighting. Our Hacienda section ("H" Sites) has vault toilets. Portables are located throughout the campground for your convenience. There is minimal privacy from other campers due to the placement of the sites and the way our trees and vegetation is trimmed for fire resistance. If you are a person who appreciates nature and making due with what the land has provided, then we are a great fit. Guests have 20 acres to find a secluded, or socially distanced spot to pitch camp. This is for people that know how to camp in the backcountry - Without a trash can, who don’t leave cigarette butts, respect the land and would rather not be sectioned off. Flat areas are all over if you explore, and use your feet to brush aside rocks and twigs, to lay down a tent base, as we do every time we camp in the backcountry. The geography of these mountains is just that, hills and mountains. The vista at the top of the property is gorgeous and easily camps 5 tents spaced out. The property does offer many other great camping areas, and I’m more than happy to point them out. Yosemite is 30 minutes away, Don Pedro lake is 30 minutes, Cherry Lake is 30 minutes, Preston falls and Carlon falls are both 30 min away. Downtown Groveland Is 7 minutes away, and other historic towns are not too far. Close to many swimming holes. Rainbow pools is 15 minutes away. 10 min from the local grocery store and other local shops. Base Camp is just off of highway 120.
