Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home. UFO Enthusiasts, Rock Climbers, Urban Explorers, Off-Roaders, Artists, Musicians, and all are welcomed! We are located 10 minutes from The Integratron, 25 minutes from Giant Rock, Joshua Tree National Park, and 40 minutes from Johnson Valley. Halliday's liquor store is 10 minutes, with $5 pizza place (delicious!) / gas station 15 minutes away. There is even a nearby Landers thrift store and La Copine restaurant. Shooting area about 15 minutes away. I can list SO much more, but I'll let you come explore the hidden gems Landers has to offer. There is a firepit set up onsite for your convenience. Cold Creek is a unique 112-acre property in the San Bernardino National Forest. Because of its location in a 3,200 foot elevation, it's colder than the Southern California deserts and warmer than the cold mountains above us. Our temperatures rarely exceed 90F and rarely drop below 40F. We have plenty sun and about two to three days of snow every winter. A year-around creek keeps everything green and fresh around the year. We are the second owners since 1913, and operate a small organic orchard on the property. We are most famous for our honey, peaches and figs, but also grow apples, pears, persimmon, blackberries, greens, bay leaf, white sage and more.For years , we were WWOOF hosts (look it up ;-) and resisted opening up Cold Creek to traffic associated with daily camping arrivals, but we finally found the perfect spots for visitors to park their RVs, spend a quiet night and visit the orchard by foot.We are now excited by the prospect of focusing on expanding our micro-farming and inviting campers to look over our shoulders.

OUR STORY Our farm story began in 2018, when on a whim and a prayer we purchased a rundown home and land. After years of acquiring many blisters, animals, plants and weird suntans, we eventually created the home and farm of our dreams. Our emphasis in the beginning of this journey was to create a space in which our children (along with ourselves) learned the value of producing our own food, fiber, meat and eggs. We challenged ourselves to learn sustainable and organic farming practices, and the emphasis soon changed to how can we share this journey and all that we have learned with more than just our children. So…..here we are, sharing our hard work and ambition with you. For now, this ambition is in the form of HomeMade Jams, Jellies, Teas, Seasonings and Confections that is procured from our own organically grown gardens and trees along with HandMade fiber creations from our small Alpaca herd. I would like to be able to say that we grew everything that goes into our ingredients, but we are not that good at everything yet! So to keep in the spirit of ethical sustainability along with ensuring a high quality and great tasting product, we purchase ingredients from local organic farmers and shelf products that not only have the USDA Organic seal, but are non-GMO, ethically harvested and in some cases certified Kosher. One day we hope to meet you and share our story with you by introducing you to the fruit trees my father grew from seed and let you feel the soft fiber of our eclectic herd of misfit Alpacas while you watch the glorious Southern California sunset touch the hot desert horizon we call home. Beautiful 5 acres of nothing but views. It's named "The Slab" simply because that's what my family has always called it. I am currently testing this as a place for campers, so please leave feedback so it can be improved. Eventually, there will be a picnic table setup for campers, and designated open spots for more vehicles to park/ flat spots for more tents. There is running water available on the slab but I am in the middle of figuring something out how campers can utilize it. Stay tuned! UFO Enthusiasts, Rock Climbers, Urban Explorers, Off-Roaders, Artists, Musicians, and all are welcomed! We are located 10 minutes from The Integratron, 25 minutes from Giant Rock, Joshua Tree National Park, and 40 minutes from Johnson Valley. Halliday's liquor store is 10 minutes, with $5 pizza place (delicious!) / gas station 15 minutes away. There is even a nearby Landers thrift store and La Copine restaurant. Shooting area about 15 minutes away. I can list SO much more, but I'll let you come explore the hidden gems Landers has to offer. There is a firepit set up onsite for your convenience. Only 3 miles of dirt road that is accessible to low profile vehicles. It is a especially beautiful and private place in the hills between Lander’s and Hidden River straight east of Flamingo Heights. This is a great option for camping in a quiet and private area away from the crowded public camp grounds. Only natural desert and star filled night sky to see in every direction.Privacy shield for bathroom, changing and shower use. Overall a super great experience! Definitely no snazzy amenities, toilets are on a delicate system and while they ask folks not to flush paper many do so leaking/clogging was an issue. That being said, there was a very clean and stocked porta potty right next to the bathrooms that worked just fine. The campsites are basic but check in was really easy and being so close to Pappy and Harriet’s and Joshua Tree was great!

Amazing property and exceptional service from Tao and everyone at The High Desert Protocal. We stayed in the Silverstreak and loved how vintage it was. We felt like we we're back in the 70's in the best way. All the amenities, dog friendly, communal kitchen, clean bathrooms and shower, beautiful pool and hot tub, hiking footsteps away I really can't say enough. Perfect getaway from the city BS. We tent camped at the overlook and it was amazing! The view was great, there was running water and a restroom nearby. The area was very clean and well maintained. We explored the area and found the boulder cave which was pretty cool. We ran into a few people that live in the area and everyone was very friendly.

The hot tub, pool, fire pit, shower/bathroom, and shared kitchen were excellent. All the other guests were super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them in the hot tub and over a campfire. We found a great secluded spot to pitch a tent. Good location, about 45 mins drive from both Joshua Tree and PS. Would definitely come back and bring friends!

This place is fantastic! I stayed in the Spartan because I had my two small dogs with me and I didn't want to stay in a tent with them. The bed was very comfortable and the site even had it's own little fire pit with chairs and a grill. The overall facilities were lovely. It was too cold to get in the pool, but I'd love to come back when it is a little warmer to try it out.

Nice essential oils smell when we entered. Padlocked fence before entering the property, so felt safe. Good amenities. The hot tub was cold when we arrived and wasn't heating up, but that might have been a user error. Very responsive host, so I probably could have reached out and found a solution. The fridge had old food in it (cucumbers, opened drinks) but we didn't really care. The bathroom area was awesome. Loved the shower. The water took 10 minutes to heat up but then was hot after. Water pressure was pretty low. Wifi was strong. Enjoyed using the fire pit. The outdoor furniture on the patio was covered in dog hair, so we weren't able to use it. Overall a great stay!
