A nice escape to a little spot on the top of a mountain. A nice table set up under a solar lit oak tree was very atmospheric for our meals. Water readily available and a compost WC close enough as needed. As animal lovers, we enjoyed a few of the friendly farm animals that came by to visit. Beautiful views. Being on top of the ridge, you may find you're in a morning cloud for certain seasons. Be careful when exiting Hwy 101. If traveling southbound, it is worthwhile heading into SLO to u-turn at Monterey exit to be safer. When exiting northbound, slow down well in advance after summiting Cuesta, as the turn will suddenly appear. Note: this is not a place to considering driving into town from camp routinely due to the challenges of entering and exiting Hwy 101. Plan to spend most of your time relaxing in camp, or exploring further up Mt. Lowe road to the several antenna hilltops and enjoy the amazing views.

We had a wonderful time camping here. We brought our two young sons and they loved it. The “volcano” and all the critters were huge hit! Veronica was so kind and had such great knowledge about the land and all the critters as well. We loved how private the site was but also how easy it was to walk to the bathroom, shower and water. The oaks gave us some nice shade during the day, the views over the meadows were stunning and the stars at night really were breathtaking. We cannot wait to come back again! Thank you Veronica!

I had a nice weekend camping on Veronica's land. The site number 3 was private, there was a nice small hill to pitch my tent on, and the starry night sky was great. I had my telescope with me, and this was a good place for doing astrophotography, no light pollution. And Pinnacles national park is nearby and a great place to do some hiking daytime!

Man! This spot is absolutely AMAZING!! Karina and Chris are sooooo kind and awesome. The site its self is absolutely beautiful and in my opinion a perfect location as well. All the animals we got to hang out with were definitely a perk too! We will 10000% be returning. Thank you for making our weekends so great!

Even though I only camped 1 out of the two days due to clouds on the first night, I enjoyed my stay under the dark sky and took advantage of it to do some more astrophotography. Spotted a fox a few miles before getting to the site and a family of deer the next morning when I was leaving, so that was great !

Jaimie was very communicative prior to our trip and made everything easy. Veronica met us when we got to the site and welcomed us with a tour of the land and amenities. I would highly recommend staying here, site 4 specifically as it’s away from others and has a beautiful view of the valley and hills. We loved seeing the bunnies and ground squirrels running around and plenty of birds like California quails.

Our stay at Chris & Karina's campsite was absolutely fantastic! The site is stunning—beautifully maintained and perfectly secluded while still feeling safe and accessible. It came with everything we needed: a clean and well-kept compost toilet, a picnic table, fire pit, fire extinguisher, and a shovel. There was plenty of flat space for our three tents, chairs, and gear, and even a charming little bench nearby that gave us the perfect spot to watch the sunset. We were able to purchase firewood ahead of time, and it was conveniently delivered before we arrived. Chris and Karina were incredibly kind and responsive throughout the entire process. I highly recommend staying at one of their properties- you won't be disappointed!

What a special, dreamy place - I think we said “wow” fifty times on the drive up the access road. Nestled amongst the mountain tops, this working ranch offered everything we were looking for and more: views, wildflowers (they’re the reward for the rainy spring weather), free range farm animals, hiking/walks, and peace and privacy. The hosts were so warm and lovely, and treated us more like neighbors than guests. Our four year old is ready to move there (swayed by the pigs and the owner’s fluffy dogs, I believe), and was sad to leave. Can’t wait to come back!

The host was very pleasant, friendly and attentive. The directions were clear. The views were beautiful. Mother Nature provided overcast skies, so our desire to stargaze on the night of the new moon didn’t happen. Next time. We enjoyed the blue oaks, beautiful hillsides and wildlife. The potable water, flush toilets, and hot/shower were an added plus.

This is such a lovely place to camp, especially for a group, or with dogs! You are in a private area, surrounded by vineyards, orchards and rolling hills. It’s definitely at the top of our favorite places to camp! Hosts are great people.

Weekend Trip to Historical Almond Springs!

My husband and I loved our night here and wished we had booked it for 2 nights. We stayed in one of the cabins which was perfect for us and our 2 dogs ( a Great Dane and a JRT/ Chi. mix). We played pool and darts in the game room. We walked around exploring. Met some of the family, who were welcoming and friendly. They asked if I wanted to go feed some baby goats, and of course I jumped at the offer and it was the highlight of my stay. We definitely want to go back again, but for at least a 2 nights stay. 🙂

Funky place. But I like it. Know what you’re getting into, chickens, dogs and lots of peacocks. Michael is a great guy and keeps an eclectic place. It’s probably not for everybody but if your open to it, it can be cool.

Our ranch consists of 142 acres located at the top of East Cuesta Grade, elevation approximately 2100 ft. We are secluded and it feels like you're far away from city life yet San Luis Obispo is only a twenty minute drive away. We neighbor Los Padres National Forest which has several miles of hiking and biking trails. On our farm we have 10 sheep, 10 goats, 22 chickens, 2 pigs, 4 dogs and a cat. Interaction with farm animals is common place as most campsites are close to our animal pastures. Bee hives are located on the property as well. Honey, eggs and firewood are available for purchase. :)

Creekside Camping and Mineral Baths

We can accommodate tent campers or car campers. Each campsite fits 4-6 people. The price is $40/per person. Kids under 12 are free. Most campsites are accessible by car and all campsites are accessible by foot. PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a traditional check in procedure. Campsites are first come first serve. Expect a "self-check in process" most of the time. However, there are sometimes people working onsite that you may run into, that are happy to help and lead you in the right direction. You choose your own campsite so plan to arrive early. You can park and walk around. There is signage that says "CAMP" with Arrows. BYO water. We have sulfur spring water. Great for your skin, not good to drink! There's a couple outhouses on the property. One in the main camp zone, one at the far north end of the lower Redwood campsite. You can also bring a shovel and take a walk if you're in the more remote campsites. We have a dumpster outside the gate for your garbage. IMPORTANT INFO Please don't mind our farm junk/tools as you enterGate 1! We are slowly working on clean up and relocation of materials from the entry road and away from view. Before you arrive, have knowledge of poison oak because it is a native plant. The main photos in the listing are taken from Hipcamp Scouts back in 2018 and they are featuring our Original campsite. This is located past the mineral baths. It's the furthest one to reach, and accessible by foot. I will update photos to depict all the campsites, but please share your photos with us on Instagram and tag @charanspringsfarm to help future campers get a view of what the sites look like with a tent set up! SULFUR MINERAL BATHS Include in your experience the use of our sulfur mineral baths. It's $10 per person. PLEASE BOOK THIS AS AN EXTRA AT CHECKOUT. The mineral baths are 2 funky vintage clawfoot tubs that are pictured in the actual listing.The photos show an accurate description of the Mineral Baths. They are not located in the main camp zone. Please call ahead to book your time slot and get directions to the mineral baths. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK IF: You are looking for "Glamping," (Glamour Camping). It's primitive camping on a private property with bonuses like the garden, rustic baths, and beautiful nature. This property has been a working farm for decades, which has struggled with hard times. If farm yards/junk piles make you uncomfortable or give you a creepy feeling, don't book because our boneyard is adjacent to the entry road and it can't be ignored. Peaceful and private RV camping under the oaks with picnic table, fire pit and Adirondack chairs. We currently have two sites on our property. They are about 300 feet apart and not easily visible from each other. Property is fully fenced; both sites are next to an open field under the oaks with vineyard, olive orchard and mountain views. This property is 30 miles from Paso Robles and almost perfectly centered between Missions San Antonio and San Miguel. Lakes San Antonio and Nacimiento are close by. Coastal towns of Cayucos and Morro Bay are about an hour scenic drive, passing many wineries along the way. There is space for multiple RVs or additional tents sharing your party's RV restroom facilities. Site one will accommodate sixteen people and multiple vehicles. Site two will accommodate ten people and two vehicles. For larger groups we ask that that you book both sites. We have hosted many family reunions and the feedback has been 100% positive. The Hill Fort - Camelot

Camelot was founded on the Summer Solstice, in the year 2000, by a small group of like minded people as a peaceful refuge from the trappings and ills of society. The name "Camelot" was chosen because of the groups' belief in a round table approach to problem solving, and the desire to reach a unanimous group consensus in any course of action which might affect any one individual of the group. A pendragon was elected as the the lifetime group leader, or "first among equals". This position exists today, though the members of the original group have faded into history. We are located a 45 minute drive from Carmel Valley, CA and 50 minutes from Pinnacles National Park. We have 15 tent and RV sites available. We can only accommodate vehicles under 25 ft and there are no hookups. No campfires allowed. Wifi only works in certain areas of the property. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash. We have a toilet and shower but campers must supply their own soap, shampoo and towels. Please note, there are a lot of animals nearby so there will be noise at night.

Highlands Ranch

Highlands Ranch Hip Camp sites are located half way between Atascadero and Morro Bay. The weather at Highlands Ranch is more like the inland Atascadero side hot in the summer months and cold in the winter months. We have 4 terraced, no hook up, spots available all of which can accommodate 2 or 4 wheel drive camper vans, trucks or cars. One of the sites can be used for fifth wheel, small motorhome or multiple camper type vehicles and of course tents can be set up on all sites. Sites range from small to extra large, that are quaintly studded with oak trees and native greenery for a peaceful camp off the road. Also, from our sites available, there is only a 5 minute walk to the local, off the beaten path, restaurant called the Half Way Station (great food, beer/ wine, sweets and live music) open Thursday through Sunday, which you can find on Facebook or Instagram. You may also like, a drive, further west is the Morro Creek Ranch Country Store (Snacks, Oils, Avocados, and more), which you can find on Facebook as well and of course further west with tons of ocean fun is Morro Bay. If you want to learn to ride or play polo... that is my real job. Guests love it here: "My husband, friends, and our dogs spent Thanksgiving at Megan’s farm. Megan was welcoming, patient (I asked her a number of questions) and responsive - even on Thanksgiving evening. The property is in a GREAT location so close to SLO, Montaña de Oro, Morro Bay, wineries and so much more. (The weather prevented us from experiencing that and so much more but it’s easy to build a great trip when staying at Megan’s place.) It was a unique experience and if you enjoy or interested in horses - this is a great spot to stay."

Our 42 acres is located at the beginning of the award winning Adelaide Wine trail in Paso Robles. Our ranch was once home to a horse boarding and breeding ranch which bred Paso Fino horses, known for their beautiful gait. Having been a horse ranch, it left us with some nice trails that you can enjoy during your stay. We have some nice uphill walks to view your local surroundings while sitting to enjoy a glass of wine or you morning cup of coffee/tea. We are on a well out here so at times you may get a sulphur/mineral smell to the water. Please bring your own drinking/cooking water. It is safe to shower, my hair feels so much thicker! On the ranch you will see that we have 2 donkeys, Desi (black) and Lucy (light grey). Along with our donkeys we have to friendly goats, Fiona (brown) and Sadie (white), they love carrots. but please stick to one carrot a day each, we don't want to over feed them. We also have chickens which means have farm fresh eggs. $5 for 1/2 dozen. Up on the hill you will see Connie a cow and her buddy Samuel, the bull. they love carrots but please do not go into their pasture. She'll think you're bringing food and gets very dangerously excited. Please feel free to walk the property and become one with nature while observing the local indigenous floral and fauna.
