Site was exactly how advertised, would still recommend 4 wheel drive for this site in particular due to steep grade and small ruts prior to the site. Very timely responses from the hosts accommodating us for the stay. Leveling recommended

The other reviews did not exaggerate, this is a great campsite, high above SLO with total privacy and 360 degree views all the way to the sea. Karin and Chris were very welcoming and it was fun being in close proximity to their goats, pigs, chickens and sheep.

A nice escape to a little spot on the top of a mountain. A nice table set up under a solar lit oak tree was very atmospheric for our meals. Water readily available and a compost WC close enough as needed. As animal lovers, we enjoyed a few of the friendly farm animals that came by to visit. Beautiful views. Being on top of the ridge, you may find you're in a morning cloud for certain seasons. Be careful when exiting Hwy 101. If traveling southbound, it is worthwhile heading into SLO to u-turn at Monterey exit to be safer. When exiting northbound, slow down well in advance after summiting Cuesta, as the turn will suddenly appear. Note: this is not a place to considering driving into town from camp routinely due to the challenges of entering and exiting Hwy 101. Plan to spend most of your time relaxing in camp, or exploring further up Mt. Lowe road to the several antenna hilltops and enjoy the amazing views.

We had a wonderful time camping here. We brought our two young sons and they loved it. The “volcano” and all the critters were huge hit! Veronica was so kind and had such great knowledge about the land and all the critters as well. We loved how private the site was but also how easy it was to walk to the bathroom, shower and water. The oaks gave us some nice shade during the day, the views over the meadows were stunning and the stars at night really were breathtaking. We cannot wait to come back again! Thank you Veronica!

I had a nice weekend camping on Veronica's land. The site number 3 was private, there was a nice small hill to pitch my tent on, and the starry night sky was great. I had my telescope with me, and this was a good place for doing astrophotography, no light pollution. And Pinnacles national park is nearby and a great place to do some hiking daytime!

Bar SZ ranch was great! The proximity to Pinnacles National Park was the main draw, but having a creek and a communal kitchen was icing on the top. My kids enjoyed with with the dogs, cars, cows and horses!

My friends and I absolutely loved staying on Gene’s land! The view of the ocean and mountains was beautiful and the sound of the creek was so lovely at night. The outdoor shower was really relaxing as well! Would definitely stay here again. :)

Man! This spot is absolutely AMAZING!! Karina and Chris are sooooo kind and awesome. The site its self is absolutely beautiful and in my opinion a perfect location as well. All the animals we got to hang out with were definitely a perk too! We will 10000% be returning. Thank you for making our weekends so great!

My friends and I had such a wonderful time at Wendee’s whimsical campsite! From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome—they were friendly, kind, and incredibly accommodating. The campsite was clean, well-maintained, and full of personality, with so many thoughtful touches that made it feel truly special. We especially loved being surrounded by nature—birds, squirrels, chickens, and even deer added to the peaceful, magical atmosphere. The surrounding area is beautiful, and we went on an epic coastal bluffs hike that was a highlight of the trip. It was the perfect place to unwind, connect with nature, and enjoy great company. Highly recommend!

Beautiful spot, rustic but homey! I wish I could've stayed longer, but I had a wonderful evening and morning thanks to Rob and Jersey, who were exceptionally gracious hosts. My dog was in heaven. Will definitely be coming back!

Upon arrival, Gene showed us around a bit and wanted us to take advantage of what they had to offer here. This property is something else. We were lucky to be the only campers during our visit. Felt relatively secluded besides the few cars driving through the 1. You can tell that this property is a place of community and full of love for the environment. Stoked to come back again one day!

This was such a great spot to relax and watch the wildlife and nearby animals! It was very peaceful and relaxing.

2 nights at 40min to Pinn/Song of the Ancients

Even though I only camped 1 out of the two days due to clouds on the first night, I enjoyed my stay under the dark sky and took advantage of it to do some more astrophotography. Spotted a fox a few miles before getting to the site and a family of deer the next morning when I was leaving, so that was great !

Absolutely beautiful and peaceful spot. Lots of cute animals. Wifi. Hosts were helpful when needed and otherwise not around which was nice. Porta potty smelled good? Thats right you heard me. Kitchen had cheerful string lights, running water, and electricity. It is about a 20 min drive to the park but a beautiful drive.

Our ranch consists of 142 acres located at the top of East Cuesta Grade, elevation approximately 2100 ft. We are secluded and it feels like you're far away from city life yet San Luis Obispo is only a twenty minute drive away. We neighbor Los Padres National Forest which has several miles of hiking and biking trails. On our farm we have 10 sheep, 10 goats, 22 chickens, 2 pigs, 4 dogs and a cat. Interaction with farm animals is common place as most campsites are close to our animal pastures. Bee hives are located on the property as well. Honey, eggs and firewood are available for purchase. :)

Creekside Camping and Mineral Baths

We can accommodate tent campers or car campers. Each campsite fits 4-6 people. The price is $40/per person. Kids under 12 are free. Most campsites are accessible by car and all campsites are accessible by foot. PLEASE NOTE, we do not have a traditional check in procedure. Campsites are first come first serve. Expect a "self-check in process" most of the time. However, there are sometimes people working onsite that you may run into, that are happy to help and lead you in the right direction. You choose your own campsite so plan to arrive early. You can park and walk around. There is signage that says "CAMP" with Arrows. BYO water. We have sulfur spring water. Great for your skin, not good to drink! There's a couple outhouses on the property. One in the main camp zone, one at the far north end of the lower Redwood campsite. You can also bring a shovel and take a walk if you're in the more remote campsites. We have a dumpster outside the gate for your garbage. IMPORTANT INFO Please don't mind our farm junk/tools as you enterGate 1! We are slowly working on clean up and relocation of materials from the entry road and away from view. Before you arrive, have knowledge of poison oak because it is a native plant. The main photos in the listing are taken from Hipcamp Scouts back in 2018 and they are featuring our Original campsite. This is located past the mineral baths. It's the furthest one to reach, and accessible by foot. I will update photos to depict all the campsites, but please share your photos with us on Instagram and tag @charanspringsfarm to help future campers get a view of what the sites look like with a tent set up! SULFUR MINERAL BATHS Include in your experience the use of our sulfur mineral baths. It's $10 per person. PLEASE BOOK THIS AS AN EXTRA AT CHECKOUT. The mineral baths are 2 funky vintage clawfoot tubs that are pictured in the actual listing.The photos show an accurate description of the Mineral Baths. They are not located in the main camp zone. Please call ahead to book your time slot and get directions to the mineral baths. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK IF: You are looking for "Glamping," (Glamour Camping). It's primitive camping on a private property with bonuses like the garden, rustic baths, and beautiful nature. This property has been a working farm for decades, which has struggled with hard times. If farm yards/junk piles make you uncomfortable or give you a creepy feeling, don't book because our boneyard is adjacent to the entry road and it can't be ignored.
