The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky.
This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station.
The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website.
Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only.

Love creek sanctuary was founded in 2016. It all started with Stu the steer and his best friend Petey the goat, from there we have rescued over 90 animals, 45 make their home here at the sanctuary. Our camping areas are fenced from the animals but you are free to explore our 12 acres and interact with the animals during your stay here. We ask that children under 10 stay outside the animal areas and children over 10 are accompanied by a grownup. We have plenty of art and child friendly activities, just ask and we can set you up. We have a no dog policy because the chickens and birds are free ranging, unfortunately we have had several bad experiences with dogs attacking the birds and other animals. If you have a dog that has been around farm animals and is well behaved, let's talk about it. We have 5 dogs so the birds have NO FEAR of them.

There are donkeys, roosters, dogs and peacocks that make noise, sometimes at night and always early in the morning. Please be aware that you may hear the donkeys bray (usually lasts about 30 seconds), roosters crow, guinea fowl chirp. It is startling and will wake you up. We do our best to keep the dogs hushed but we cannot stop the donkeys, roosters and peacocks from doing their thing. If you are a light sleeper, please bring earplugs or select another wonderful Hipcamp in our area, thank you!
In addition to the interesting sounds you will hear, you will encounter dirt, poop and spiders. Since we are a working farm, things get dirty. We spray all high traffic surfaces twice a day but things get dirty and when it rains it is muddy. Please plan accordingly.
We are centrally located between Grass Valley and Auburn, giving you access to endless recreational activities, wineries, breweries and restaurants.
We have 50 or so rescued farm animals, you can interact with our pig Hank, Mojo the goat or Teddy the alpaca.
NOTE: Starting Memorial Day each year, we have replaced all of our wood fire pits with gas fire pits. We have increased our prices to help cover the costs of propane.

The Space:
A 13 ft Bell tent is setup for you with one queen bed and one single bed inside (beds are made with sheets and comforters). The tent sits approximately 75 ft above the river with breathtaking views of the river and canyon. If you are coming with a group, there is over an acre of flat land which is perfect for any type of tent setup.
At the tent site you’ll have access to a table and chairs, lounge chairs, picnic table, gas BBQ, basketball hoop and balls, rock campfire, kayaks, and a porta potty. A short 3-minute walk away from the tent you’ll find the shore of the Bear River.
Guest access:
The tent site is only accessible by 4-wheel drive vehicles. If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle there is parking for up to four vehicles at the house. The tent site is less than a quarter mile walk downhill from the house.
River access:
If you’d like to visit the river to hang out, swim, or fish you can follow the dirt road next to the tent down to the river (3-minute walk). The riverfront has lounge chairs, a picnic table, and kayak's. The riverbank has small pebbles and rocks so water shoes are highly suggested for comfort when going into the water (recommended but not needed).

This is a private tent site with one other listing on the property which is located at the house. You may rarely see other guests during your stay.
Check out is at 12pm. If you or anyone in your party stays past 12:30pm you will be charged for an extra night for your full party.
For guests that come for the day but do not stay the night there is a $25 fee per guest(s).
If your vehicle gets stuck on the property and you need a tow we may be able to accommodate for a $350 tow fee per vehicle.

Jones Bar Farm is a quiet little seven acre hobby farm at the end of the paved section of Jones Bar Rd in Nevada City, CA. We have 4 alpacas and about a dozen chickens, who free-range all over the farm.
The farm is perched near the edge of the South Yuba River canyon at about 2100 ft elevation. We are "above the fog, and below the snow (usually)." Summers are hot and dry here. Daytime temps in July and August are typically in the 90s, and night time temps are in the 70s. Spring and Fall are our favorite seasons.

Camping here is a semi-primitive experience, since there is no bathroom, and no garbage service. There is, however, potable water, and the campsites are easy to access and relatively flat.
Past our property, the unpaved, and very rough, section of Jones Bar Rd continues down into the South Yuba River canyon for about 2 miles, to a lovely swimming hole. Bicycling and hiking are very popular activities in this area.
If you are bringing your dog with you on your travels, you will want to be aware of the many unpleasant sticker weeds that are prevalent everywhere around here. Foxtails, filaree, and hitch-hiker weeds will all find their way into your dog’s fur.
The farm is about 6 miles from both Nevada City and Grass Valley. Both towns have lively and interesting down-towns with good shopping and restaurants.

This 85 acre parcel sits just west of Nevada City, CA with the Deer Creek on our southern border and the Tribute Trail along the Newtown Canal on our northern border. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere, It is a 10 minute drive to the quaint, historical gold rush town of Nevada City, and about 20-30 minutes by bicycle along the the Tribute Trail into town. The property is on a quiet dead end road. The Hipcamp site is at the edge of forested area opening onto a small meadow, so there is both sun and shade. There is a faucet and a sink at the site in addition to an electrical RV hookup.
We are 2.5 miles from downtown Nevada City, 4 miles from the Yuba River and
near many mountain biking and hiking trails.
We are in a rural setting. There are many noises that are a part of our landscape including a bird chorus in the early morning, dogs throughout the neighborhood, a rooster, ducks and at times peacocks. We also have wild animals that occasionally roam through the property (deer nightly).
We understand that fires are part of the ambiance of camping, BUT we are a FIRE FREE SITE. Fire danger, no matter how careful one is, is too real of a danger to our neighborhood. Propane camp stoves are fine.

Would recommend! We stayed at the campsite Oak Savannah and tent camped as a camper van. Feels very desolate and just what I was wanting with the lake nearby. Warning you had to walk thru tall grass to get there. The bathrooms are porta potty’s. Firewood was at our site upon arrival, not sure if it always is. Plenty of table space. Friendly guard dogs fun seeing them in action, there are two cows on property* lots of wildlife. The road in is one way the last bit and gravel one way, heads up for the wary drivers

Lovely property!! Went in April and was surprised to see the Oak Savanna campsite was full of green instead of dead weeds! The hosts were super friendly- ordered the firewood and got a ton (and it was nice and dry), and the chicken eggs! Lots of sweet animals on the property, and the sites are far from one another so you feel like you’re camping alone.
That said- someone else mentioned it- the dogs. Super sweet, loving pups, that adopted us, hung out with us the three days and two nights I was there. If you come with a dog- be forewarned- this is a much better spot for people who love dogs but don’t have one- or if you do have one it’s fine with being on leash while having other dogs hang out all day, and get in their face to smell. My dog gives one lip curl warning them snaps, so after the lip curl I had to put him in my camping van the rest of the day and night, and look for the time they weren’t around to let him out to go to the bathroom. Then the next day my parents visited, and I had them take my dog with them. So with that, ans the reason I book these trips is so my dog and I can enjoy quiet nature time together- I left a day early. The host was super apologetic and I get it- the dogs took us in as their pack and wanted to hang and protect us, which I would have loved were it not for the fact that I have a dog that prefers one on one time, I’d go again. I still try to think maybe there’s some way I can go again with my dog…
And make sure your car can do dirt roads.

We really enjoyed our stay at Siobhan’s. The neighborhood is very quiet. The location is out of, but not far from town. We were able to pull front in with out 30 foot fifth wheel, unhitch, and then get the truck out past the trailer. This put our utility hook ups on the same side as Siobhan‘s house. It also put our outdoor area outside our door away from the house for more privacy. This worked out very well.

Some joined just for the day, while others stayed multiple nights. There was more than enough space for everyone to spread out and enjoy.
We had children of all ages with us, from infants and toddlers to teenagers, and every single one of them absolutely loved it. Even with a downpour of rain during our stay, it didn’t take away from the experience at all; the kids still had an amazing time, which says everything about how great this place is.
The farm animals were such a highlight, horses, ponies, cows, the camp dogs, and especially the baby goats made it extra memorable. I’ve honestly never had this much fun at a campsite. I’ll also note that the walking distance is so close to the lake we even considered bringing a boat next time to allow summer lake fun to a future stay.
Lastly, the owner was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and provided a generous range of options that made the experience feel both easy and special. He was available when/if needed and checked in with us through the app.
We will definitely be returning!

Had a really great stay at Siobhan’s land. The property is quiet, clean, and exactly what you want if you’re trying to get away from the noise for a bit. Plenty of space to spread out, and it felt private without being isolated in a weird way.
Siobhan was easy to communicate with and made everything simple from start to finish. You can tell she actually cares about the space and the people staying there.
Overall just a solid, stress-free spot to post up. Would definitely stay again.

This is a very unique setting to camp. Our host Alyse was very hospitable, made us feel at home at our site, and communicated very well. We had such an amazing view of the sunset and sunrise over her vineyards. The site is a large leveled concrete and it was nice not having to set up leveling blocks for our roof top tent. There are very clean spacious bathrooms a short wall from camp. We loved being able to taste her wine and spirits on the weekend, which I have to say were delightfully unique. We had a great time talking to her about wine and travel. One of our favorite outdoor experiences to date. Thank you Alyse!

We loved this spot! Mary was a great host. We had firework upon request, a huge area to put up our tents and play yard games. The outdoor sink was great and there are outdoor lighting options. We will stay there again!

Ascension Ranch has everything those looking to escape reality needs. Arrival is easy, following maps an easy route to get there, definitely suggest a truck or 4WD vehicle.
The sites themselves are spread out and when we were there it was actually just us! The site was extremely spacious, and could have easily fit at least 15 people. The horses were roaming free just as stated and they’re beautiful. The ranch dogs as well were very friendly and one of them followed us everywhere (sweet guy). Overall, wonderful place to stay and bathrooms aren’t far at all.
