Welcome to Finnon Lake Recreation Area! Our lovely lake to discover. The night skies above Finnon Lake will reveal stars unseen in California. Enjoy searching for bullfrogs, and watch the flock of Canadian Geese fly in right at sunset as the horizon blends into the watercolor sky. This private lake supports the fire protection efforts of the Mosquito Fire Protection District and the firefighters of this community. Community volunteers manage the lake for the residents and the Fire Station. The primary funding source for the Finnon Lake Restoration is the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, which was signed into law in 2004 with a mission to support “efforts that improve the environmental, economic and social well-being of the Sierra Nevada Region, its communities and the residents of California,” according to its Website. Finnon Lake is also home to a popular 18-hole disc golf course and Mosquito’s only restaurant, Smoke on the Water Diner, which is open on weekends only 530-622-1060. The other direction is the largest lake in our county Bullards Bar Reservoir and Emerald Cove Marina. We are 1 mile down Marysville Rd. from a launch called dark day. There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake. On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

There is a trailhead at the top of overflow boat parking for a public swimming hole on the lake. On our property, we have a main house with its own private facilities such as a kitchen, shower, and bath. On the land, we have 9 total unique cabin and canvas tent structures converted into boutique-like campsites. We have an epic outdoor entertaining kitchen and patio with an outdoor pizza oven and a little dog rinse behind the outdoor shower. The bathhouse is right across the way and provides a private but shared guest shower house, tub and sink. Like anywhere in the woods there is an hour at sunset when you may have mosquitoes down near the sites in the spring and some of the summers depending on the year. We have a natural spray for that or fans in the kitchen. Off the path, you may find poison oak in the thick of the woods. So please stay on the marked trails.

Dino’s place was great! The property was cool, spacious, and peaceful. There were miles of hiking trails right out the back of the property, and a little boat ramp about a 3-5 minute walk that we would have used for paddling if the weather was better. The town of Locke is a very short walk and was an amazing bit of little-known history, also had some cool shops. There are a couple restaurants a short walk or drive away. Dino was very hospitable and we loved our stay! We’ll be back for sure. Oh, and I should add our dogs enjoyed exploring the area too :)

The hosts, Kris and her husband, were super nice and answered lots of questions we had. The river access is really pretty w/ a nice beach area. Plusses are flush toilets, showers, propane fire pits with propane provided, potable water and electric hook ups. Looking forward to going back next summer!

You also have access to the outdoor picnic area under the fig tree which has a BBQ, picnic table and sink for rinsing dishes. There is no indoor shower, but we do have a rustic outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Tent space We have a small orchard in front of the Nopal Studio. There is room for two tent sites. No camp fires are allowed in the orchard. If it is winter time, we do have a fire ring in the fig tree picnic area, as well as a propane BBQ. The bathroom is shared with the cabins. We have farm animals and dogs which can be loud. The dogs chase squirrels and bark maniacally, and the ducks quack at sunrise, like, lots! There are also spiders, wasps, bees, rattlesnakes etc!! We are excited to share our beautiful retreat with you! We set up this glamping experience to share the beauty and tranquility of our property. Your stay here will be the perfect escape to Nevada City and the magic of the Yuba River. The property is located in the Blue Tent region of Nevada City. The region is a historic 19th century gold mining community that lies on a gold-bearing channel of an ancient river bed. Blue Tent was established in 1850 and named after its first dwelling, a tent made of blue denim. The community thrived, becoming a center for hydraulic mining. Before long, it had its own store, dance hall, blacksmith shop, boarding house and other buildings. Like the other communities in the region that depended on hydraulic mining, Blue Tent began to decline following the 1884 Sawyer decision. A farmer near Sacramento had sued the major mining company in state court to stop it from discharging mining debris into the Yuba River. This debris was destroying farmland downstream. By the early 1890s, the Blue Tent mine was closed Learn more about this land: Inspired by our own experiences traveling and staying in large comfortable bell tents we set out to create a setting we would want to stay in ourselves and share with you. THE PROPERTY The property is a largely flat and walkable 5 acres to camp and explore. We are 15 mins from downtown Nevada City and 7 minutes to Edwards Crossing on the Yuba River which is a great swimming spot. There are also many other great river and hike locations nearby. The location is close enough to be convenient but feels entirely secluded once you arrive. Our house and shop are on the property so we are typically around. THE TENT The tent itself is a large canvas bell tent. It is 16 feet in diameter and has a high ceiling so you can stand up and have plenty of space inside. We have a pillow top queen size bed in the tent with sheets, pillows and a down comforter. There are a few pieces of furniture including a vintage dresser, chair and a bedside table. We also have included some battery powered candles to create a relaxed low light environment if needed. THE CAMPSITE The campsite consists of the tent itself, a fire pit, some camping chairs and a picnic table. BATHROOM Full bathroom in the house which is a short walk from the tent. (see photos) The house is up a small hill and far enough away that you are completely private. Access to the bathroom is through the front door of the house and the bathroom is on the main floor near the entrance. The bathroom has a shower/bath, toilet and sink with shampoo and soap, towels, etc.  INCLUDED CAMPING AMENITIES We provide most everything you need to enjoy your trip. Just bring ice for the cooler and any food you wish! The list of included items is: -Two camping chairs with side table -Medium Size Igloo cooler -Flashlights/lantern -Wine Opener -Metal Camping Cups -Basic kitchenware including a pan, small pot, cooking utensils -Marshmallow roasting sticks -Grate for cooking over the fire (conditions permitting) -Blankets for around the fire (conditions permitting) -Water dispenser with filtered water from our well -Firewood (available for sale conditions permitting) FIRES We allow campfires at certain times of the year when it is safe to do so. We strictly adhere to local recommendations and Red Flag Warnings in the area. During the red flag, there is no use of outdoor fire pits, indoor wood-burning stoves, any type of open flame, fireworks, or smoking of any kind allowed on the property. We reserve the right to ban fires at any time as conditions change. PARKING Up to two vehicles may be parked at the campsite. OTHER DETAILS Our location does not have infrastructure for wifi at this time - use this getaway to reconnect with yourself, each other, and the natural world! Cell service is limited on the property; most people have no service at the campsite. We do have good service at the house which will allow for calls and texts as well as data. The water comes from our personal well and is potable. The well is tested annually.

Quail Ridge RV Park has 17 acres nestled in the Plumas National Forest. We do NOT have direct water access. We are surrounded by four lakes, with Sly Creek and Lost Lake Reservoirs being the closest (about 3 mi. north of us), two major rivers and Feather Falls, the 3rd largest waterfall in California. Outdoor activities abound with fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking trails and mountain biking trails. You can also explore the local rivers and try your luck at gold panning. Our park is primarily divided into three areas: (1) we have 7 dedicated RV sites for weekend RV's that have full hook-ups, which include 30/50 amp. electric, water and septic connection (no pull through sites); (2) an area in the middle of the park where permanent residents live; and (3) a large area for volleyball, lounging, and playground on the opposite side of the park. Sorry, but due to the always present fire danger, no wood burning fires are allowed. You may use your own propane fire ring or propane or charcoal grill. We have clean laundry and showers and flush toilets on the north side of the park. There is one shower and one flush toilet for each men and women that are handicapped accessible. Showers cost $1 for 12 minutes of hot water. Cell phone service is spotty. AT&T/Cricket and sometimes Verizon work the best. We now have free Wi-Fi in the park! Quail Ridge RV Park is very pet friendly, and we have a beautiful new dog park for our 4-footed friends. However, we cannot accept aggressive breed dogs, or Pit-Bull mixed dogs (sorry, but our insurance company restricts these breeds). Please identify the dog breed when you are making a reservation.
