Wondernut Farm is an upstart, entirely off grid, working farm-stead being built from the ground up. We breed milking goats and sheep, heritage pigs, and are in the process of converting to a grade A dairy and creamery! We use organic practices, management intensive rotational grazing, and dryland pasture management. We sell our animals locally so that others can have their own milking and meat animals. Our 110 year old hay barn and the roof of the former lumber mill were all we had to work with in getting off the ground. Our hearts are, and always will be, educational and local community focused, and we work closely with farmers and friends alike in better understanding our innovative animal husbandry, power, pasture and water systems. Our location is stunning and historic, and the beauty of the wild, natural landscape is powerful, yet offers easy access to both Yosemite Valley and the San Francisco Bay area. The area features excellent road and mountain biking in the immediate vicinity, vast access to hiking and backpacking trails, a huge variety of rock climbing in the area, the best whitewater rafting in California on the Tuolumne River, with some tasty places to eat or drink coffee in the nearby town of Groveland, just 10 minutes away. Accommodations at the farm are certainly rustic, and private but not secluded, with occasionally heavily project-exploded shared kitchen and living space, showers, and airy flush toilets. Do be advised that animals are pooping, hammers are hammering, sometimes we need to look into a health or animal injury related issue. Sometimes there is blood in an animal birth or slaughter, and our working guardian dogs have been known to be noisy some nights. Water and electricity are both very limited (though we reuse all our water), waste must be carefully sorted into a number of different categories, and there is always evidence of ump-teen projects unfolding at once. The most difficult condition during much of the summer are nuisance flies, which are always gone at night. We have almost no mosquitoes or ticks. Depending on the exact situation and time of year, guests may have the opportunities to snuggle with baby animals and run our herd to or from pasture, and maybe even get their hands dirty picking veggies in the garden.

We operate a restaurant and we offer camping friendly meals for guests. We love the wildness of this property and do not allow cars or vehicles beyond the parking lot. All of our sites are hike in sites. It's about a 1/4 mile hike on a small foot path. We have a wagon available for guests to use and we are happy to help you carry your things. We host a communal fire pit in the evenings, weather permitting, for all guests to enjoy, we do not allow open fires on the property. Cal Fire has requested that all campers get a permit, even to operate a gas stove. Water from our well is always available outside of the restaurant and bathrooms with running water are available during business hours. There is a fire trail along one of our ridge lines that offers stunning views of the San Antonio Valley as well as our abundant wildlife. We sometimes host speakers and educational workshops and guests are always welcome to participate in events. We have 155 acres of the Sierra foothills just ~12 minutes from downtown Murphys. This is a working farm where we specialize in cut flowers and also grow a little food. There are a few different listings, so make sure to read the details on your specific listing! -End of The Driveway -1 Pine -2 Pine The End of The Driveway is one big site for buses/RVs/big vans next to the Soup Kitchen. 1 Pine and 2 Pine are up a separate driveway on the ridge. The driveway spot is down the driveway a couple hundred yards from where we usually are so you’ll more or less be on your own, depending on if we have work to do down there or if there are other campers. We are happy to chat or leave you be, just let us know what your needs are. If you’re looking for a more isolated spot, see the listings for 1 Pine or 2 Pine. The 2nd area is “1 Pine” accessed by our second driveway that is 100 yards down the road from the farm. The driveway is kind of rough but definitely manageable with a truck, SUV or sedan if you’re willing to go for it. The drive goes up a couple hundred yards to the hilltop where there is a clearing and, you guessed it, 1 pine tree. From the back of the clearing there is a trail that leads you to 2 Pine, which is a walk that takes just a few minutes. 2 Pine is walk-in only but has great views of the sunset and is totally secluded and private and would be a good spot to either bring some friends for a little sunset party or for someone who wants to seriously unplug. Beautiful cabin at Pine Mountain Lake right down the street from beach. This 2-bedroom 2-bath cabin is very cozy. It features large deck,two couches, fire pit table, and a propane heater. The master bedroom has a king bed, full bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a queen bed and a single bed. Each bedroom has a smart TV in it. The family room has a smart TV as well. The Wi-Fi is strong and can stream movies, video games, emails, cell phones etc. The space Guests have access to the whole house as well as Pine Mountain Lake amenities. There is a $44 fee per car to enter the gate. This gives you access to the amenities for the length of your stay up to 7 days. Dogs are limited to 3. We do not allow Rottweilers, Dobermans, pit bulls, chows, and wolf breeds. Also any dog mixed with these breeds are not permitted. Dogs are not allowed on the beach at Pine Mountain Lake, they must be on a leash at all times. Please do not leave in the home unattended without a crate. If staying with more than 6 guests please contact me with details, we can approve this depending on the situation. There is a wood burning stove in the living room, Do not use this. The house is equipped with a full HVAC system, Wood burning stove is to only be used if the power goes out and it is the only source of heat. We do not supply wood. A total of 3 bedrooms, 1 bunk room, and 3 full baths to accommodate groups as large as 12 persons. Guest access Self-check-in is available with door access granted by entry code via a Schlage smart lock. ***Please note that a $50 per car entry fee is not included in the listing fees and must be paid at your initial entry into the Pine Mountain Lake community. You will receive a Guest Pass to hang on your car for the duration of your stay. Proceeds of this fee are used to maintain facilities and operations of the PML community amenities shared with our guests. Other things to note Memory foam mattresses, 100% down pillows and comforters, and 100% cotton sheets.

3 nights at Nolla A-Frames Near Yosemite

We had a lovely stay at Liza and Tom's A-frame cabin. The views, especially at night, were beautiful and calming. The proximity to the Yosemite gate was great and made getting an early parking spot easier. The set-up with the sister site for showers was also very easy and really not inconvenient. The mats for sleeping were a bit on the thinner side, so I'd recommend bringing additional mats if you prefer a plush mattress, but it worked for us. Overall, I'd recommend this camp spot to others looking for a relaxing camping experience that's more elevated than just a tent!

Cabin 1 is the perfect balance of accessible and also private. It feels very remote, while only being a short drive from the main highway. The cabin itself is well maintained and very comfortable. Definitely looking forward to a return stay.

Fantastic place to stay near Yosemite. The cabin is beautifully built and spacious yet cozy. Wonderful way to unwind and relax. I enjoyed laying in bed and looking up at the stars through the glass window.

We stayed at the Treehouse Camp and it was lovely! Clean and comfortable, and the kitchen had enough supplies so we didn't have to bring anything extra. Jeremy was a great host, super nice and responsive. Amazing location right on the lake, just beautiful!

Stayed at the Super View cabin and it was great! Super unique experience in a one-of-a-kind setting. Our teenage daughters loved being surrounded by all of the animals. It would be easy to spend all day on property but you've also got Murphys a short distance away so there is lots to do.

Cabin 1 was peaceful and cozy for a quick one night stay while we were visiting the area. Gave the camping vibe without having to pack all the gear. Drifting off to sleep with the night sky full of stars and waking up to incredible views of sunrise through the giant picture window was an experience I’ll never forget.

Second time staying at the yurt and my kids loved it again! It’s a friendly atmosphere. I could stay at a hotel to get away but we wouldn’t be able to play in the dirt and the swimming hole and just be in nature together.

Weekend Trip to Red Tail Ranch at Yosemite

I absolutely loved my time at Red Tail Ranch. The different camping options made this venue a perfect gathering place for my group of RV campers, vanlifers, tent and car campers, and one very overwhelmed me who just started a new role and needed a no-lift hotel-style option. Enter the Barn Room and its sweetest little suite across the “hall”. We’d had this weekend on the calendar long before I landed in my new role, but I thought in recent weeks that getting away this weekend would be impossible. The Barn Room setup made it possible for me to not bail, come with the group, and have a truly restful experience (besides the 10+ mile climb in nearby Yosemite!). Shoutout Robb and the most patient cleaning staff, whose name I have forgotten. We appreciate y’all and can’t wait to come back!
