Kelley was an absolutely amazing host! Pearl the airstream was clean and cozy and equipped with everything needed for a campout in the woods. The sauna was an incredible experience - who wouldn’t want their own private sauna in the woods with a cold plunge shower?! It was an authentic Finnish sauna experience in the sierra mountains. The area is beautiful and there are plenty of trails, lakes, and pools to explore. Our pup loved it as well! If you’re looking for a night out in nature with little to no hassle, you’ve come to the right spot. And seriously - do yourself a favor and book the sauna!

Weekend Trip to Private Yurts - Nevada City

We'd highly recommend staying at Nathan's yurt in the woods! We spend 3 nights there with the intent of a relaxing getaway, and felt very refreshed afterwards. The yurt certainly met the definition of "glamping", as we felt both immersed in nature and also pampered by the clean and spacious yurt, private restroom, and fire pit + hot tub outdoor oasis. The setup is very tastefully done. There is quick and easy access to Nevada City if needed/desired, although we felt like everything we needed was already at the site. Depending on the season, our only recommendation would be to plan to use plenty of firewood. Especially if you are trying to fully enjoy the firepit, indoor stove, and hot tub, you may end up using quite a bit. The hot tub itself definitely took several hours of continuous fire to get to a comfortable temperature, so plan on plenty of wood and getting that going first thing (or having Nathan help) if you plan to use it! Thanks for hosting, Nathan. Looking forward to coming back sometime!

Beautiful property with great views. If you want privacy and seclusion this is the one! Road in can get pretty bumpy with a dirt road for the last 10-15 minutes to the property so just be prepared, but we had no issue with FWD.

Perfectly snug cabin for me and my daughter. Gas stove for cooking and hot water for showers. Cabin warms up in the sun during the day so we didn't need a fire inside at night. But bring blankets! A good fire pit for s'mores and hot dogs. Nice exploring in the surrounding forest including a nearby creek! Nothing really close by so bring what you need.. including food! The owner is communicative, helpful and close-by if you need anything!

Awesome little spot! We stayed in the A-frame which was super cozy and comfortable. The cabin has pretty much anything you could need and Ellie and Jack were quick to respond to any questions we had. I loved the Russric cabin! It has everything you need and nothing you don’t. Even in cold rainy March it was warm and toasty with blankets and a heater. The kitchen has everything you need to stay in or make a solid breakfast for a day of hiking. Russ is kind and welcoming but absolutely gives you your space. Highly recommend!

HOME found me in late June 2019 after a two-year journey to get out of the city. Looking back, I feel like I left at the right time. This is our top-end accommodation a one bedroom cabin with its own small kitchen, bathroom and living room with a wood stove. A beautiful spot to check out. The sofa folds out into a queen size bed, can easily accommodate up to four people. The cabin has all basic amenities, kitchen, bathroom, etc. We are not pet friendly. "4 of us enjoyed our stay in the cabin. We made a simple, delicious dinner in the kitchen, enjoyed talking around the fire pit, slept, enjoyed a morning walk in the neighborhood, ate breakfast, and then headed out for an afternoon at the river. We chose the cabin, because our little adventure was only 1 night, which seemed too short for setting up a campsite. The cabin met our need perfectly. We had air mattresses and sleeping bags with us; 1 person used the double bed, and the other 3 opted to use air mattresses. I would happily return for another stay!" "This site definitely suited our needs for the weekend we stayed. Josh was very accommodating before we even showed up and was welcoming once we got there. It’s a great little retreat into the woods and convenient as far as being able to access Scott’s Flat Lake nearby. It is also nice and quiet at night so that is definitely a plus."

There is a large fire pit, horseshoes, and a hammock by the creek. Seclusion and quietude in nature yet 4 minutes to downtown Nevada City, 15 min to rivers & lakes, and 45 min to ski resorts. This is the place for people who are tired of rentals that lack amenities or aesthetic quality. This is also a non-toxic, eco-friendly sanctuary. There are four bedrooms in the main house and an optional separate studio to rent. The main house has two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with a twin bed and a twin air mattress (if needed), and an enclosed den with a queen murphy bed. This allows 8 people to sleep comfortably. There are 3 bathrooms, one with a lux freestanding soaking tub with forest views. For 9-11 guests, or if you just want extra space for a smaller party, you can rent the separate studio for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee. This is discounted from our regular rates of $210 for 3 people and $188 for 2 people, and our regular cleaning rate of $140. The studio is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and living area with sofa for a child or young adult to sleep on. The main house kitchen is fully equipped-- this is not like other rentals that lack wine glasses or cooking pans! We have a Ninja blender, instant pot/slow cooker, toaster, French press coffee maker, coffee grinder, lots of dishes and utensils, state of the art drinking water filtration system, gas oven and stove, baking dishes and pans, and more. You'll also be provided with organic cooking oil and organic spices. The owner specializes in non-toxic home design so everything from the mattresses and bedding to the soap & shampoo are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and/or organic. You have complete reign of the 8 acre property, including the hot tub, and private creekfront park with gazebo, fire pit, and horseshoe pit. Sometimes we rent out a studio on the property (or you can rent it-- see details above), but studio guests do not have access to acres of the property that are just for you, so the hot tub, fire pit, gazebo, horse shoe pit, and more is yours. If you want total privacy, we can block out the studio from being rented for an additional $75/night, or you can rent it for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee (see details above). Pack and play, twin air bed, and dining table booster seat with tray are available! Please just request them before you arrive, and bring your own sheet for the pack and play. Air bed is usually needed if 8 guests are staying in the main home (if studio is not rented). It can snow in Nevada City in the winter (beginning in December or January and through March). The region is a historic 19th century gold mining community that lies on a gold-bearing channel of an ancient river bed. Blue Tent was established in 1850 and named after its first dwelling, a tent made of blue denim. The community thrived, becoming a center for hydraulic mining. Before long, it had its own store, dance hall, blacksmith shop, boarding house and other buildings. Like the other communities in the region that depended on hydraulic mining, Blue Tent began to decline following the 1884 Sawyer decision. A farmer near Sacramento had sued the major mining company in state court to stop it from discharging mining debris into the Yuba River. This debris was destroying farmland downstream. It is 16 feet in diameter and has a high ceiling so you can stand up and have plenty of space inside. We have a pillow top queen size bed in the tent with sheets, pillows and a down comforter. There are a few pieces of furniture including a vintage dresser, a chair and a bedside table. We also have included some battery powered candles to create a relaxed low light environment if needed.THE CAMPSITEThe campsite consists of the tent itself, a fire pit, some camping chairs and a picnic table.BATHROOMFull bathroom in the house which is a short walk from the tent. (see photos) The house is up a small hill and far enough away that you are completely private. Our property is lakeside at Rollins Lake In Colfax. We live on over 30 private, beautiful acres with footpath access to Rollins Lake. (3 minute walk from the dome or house, and 10-15 minutes from the cabin) where most summer days here are spent swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing ect., down at the water. Please note the Cabin is set on a seasonal CANNABIS garden. All three sites are vacation spots, not just simple accommodations. The remarkable property is very hilly with pines and oaks. You can follow our driveway to the bottom and access the beginning of The Bear River which has a nice hiking trail alongside it or drive 8 minutes to the nearest boat ramp and 10 minutes to the town of Colfax where you will find gas, groceries, and restaurants. We have a beautiful spot where you will not see any neighbors so it is peaceful and private with gorgeous 360-degree views. It is also very safe! Bask in nature, quiet, and privacy! In summer there is a 3-night minimum for the cabin and dome. Occasionally a two day midweek will pop up on the schedule last minute. To see correct pricing, enter your dates as they can fluctuate with holidays, weekends. Prices are decreased midweek. Just step outside the cabin to access miles of single track through the Tahoe national forest, or jump in your car to access lakes, rivers and streams within a 10 minute drive. Snowboarding and; skiing is a 25 minute drive away and snowshoeing and; cross country skiing can start right off the front deck! Come relax in your own private off grid cabin with a cozy loft and a view of Tahoe National Forest. At just over 5,000 feet in elevation and a dirt road drive Muir's Muse is the perfect place to disconnect. A three minute walk will get you to the Pioneer Trail which is a 25 mile non-motorized trail meandering through Tahoe National Forest, Bear Valley, and mountain lakes at its terminus. Open to hikers, bicyclists, equestrians and all lovers of the outdoors, the adventures are endless! Although there is cell service, there is no electricity or running water. There is an outdoor fire ring, a pit toilet on site and a portable heater and small camp stove for you to use... Just bring your own small propane canisters. This magical and private Yurt in the woods are just 2 miles from Nevada City Come experience the Beauty of the Sierra Foothills and the Yuba River in our Yurts tucked into the forest just 2 miles from downtown Nevada City. With a natural creek right outside your door and hiking trails right off the deck, this serene and beautiful yurt retreat awaits you. Nevada City is renowned for its excellent food, shopping, nightlife and farmer’s market. A leisurely walk into town takes 45 mins, bike in 15 or drive in 5. Grass Valley is 10 minutes away as well and has more food, shopping, and entertainment for you. Access to the Yuba River is as close as 20 mins to Edwards Crossing and 20 mins to Hoyts Crossing on Highway 49. We absolutely recommend trying to stay for two or more nights so that you can get accustomed to the space, learn the property, settle in, and relax. Each yurt has a wood-fired stove inside with plenty of wood stacked to keep you warm. Each yurt has a kitchen that is fully equipped with a hot plate, toaster oven, microwave, refrigerator, cutlery, pots and pans, grill, etc. Each yurt has a Queen bed with a heating blanket to help keep you cozy throughout the night. Each yurt has its own dedicated wood-fired hot tub. It requires a fire to be lit and maintained to keep it hot. Things you might like to bring: headlamps, robe, flip flops, slippers, hiking shoes. Water: we are on a well and provide fresh drinking water in a container for you. It’s fine to drink, cook, and bathe with the water from the tap but it can have a minerally quality to it. We test the well annually. We provide filtered water but if it runs out, the water out of the tap is safe and delicious. The hot tub: it’s wood fired. This means you have to heat it with a fire to get it hot. This can take many hours to get to the right temperature. It’s a good idea to start a fire right when you get there! This tub may have leaves in it (they fall from above) and cloudy water. The water should NOT smell, the cloudiness is a part of the cedar tubs charm- ash from the fire and particulate from the cedar mix together. We treat it between guests with natural products that maintain the wood (you can’t use chlorine in these tubs). We clean it regularly. Shower before using it to wash off any oils and sweat in your body please! The outdoor shower is lovely :) Fireplace: We will leave you a bundle of wood that comes with the rental. If you need more wood you can purchase it from us or from the grocery store. We have lots of wood at the yurt and we ask you to pay $10 per bundle if you use more then we leave you inside. This is on the honor system- It takes a lot of time and resources to keep wood stocked for the property. If you don’t know how to start a fire you may want to bring an instant log with you. Please leave the lighter behind for the next guest. Sleep: we have a heating blanket for cold nights, It’s about 10 degrees cooler on our land than in town. This is a real treat during our hot summers. There will be a fan for you as well during the warm season. We live in the woods, there are bugs and wild animals on/or near the property. This is part of the country charm and should be expected. Please don't leave food outside. Land acknowledgment: We acknowledge that our property is located on unceeded land. It is the traditional homeland of the Nisenan tribe. The Nisenan tribe is alive and active and continues to fight for federal recognition and compensation for land loss.
