Weekend Trip to Cabin in the Forest Near Yuba River

Perfect cozy cabin for our stay. Tim was great with communication and directions and we loved exploring the surrounding areas. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed the peace and quiet here. The cabin was perfectly cozy and provided all the necessities for glamping. We also really liked the host’s recommendations in town - we tried Java John’s for coffee and Lola’s for a nicer dinner our last night. Russ and Kim both greeted us when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. The property was very easy to find.

We had an amazing stay at this secluded cabin nestled right on a beautiful, peaceful creek. The setting is absolutely serene — perfect for a quiet escape into nature, and especially great for families with kids. Ours spent hours playing by the water, exploring the woods, and just being kids without screens or schedules. The cabin itself strikes the perfect balance between rustic charm and cozy comfort. It’s a great “glamping” experience — you get all the perks of being out in nature without sacrificing a good night’s sleep, indoor restroom and shower. Thoughtfully stocked and very clean, it made us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a place to unplug, unwind, and make some lasting family memories, this is it. We’ll definitely be coming back!

3 nights at Victoria Forest

Nice and relaxing spot for a few days of quiet time. Outdoor shower was a bit wonky (large bag with a hose) and cumbersome but nothing too tough! The door looked like maybe a bear had tried to get in recently (which I actually think is cool, haha) and the fire pit was a nice place to relax in the cool evenings! Overall, rad spot!

Stayed in the Serentity cabin and it was so nice. It was quiet and comfy with pretty much everything you would need is provided. Comfy beds, kitchen stuff and a wood stove for keeping warm. The shower and bathroom at the main house were definitely a huge plus after a dusty summer hike. I would stay here again for sure!

We thoroughly enjoyed the Farmhouse Cabin at Rollins Lake. It was clear that the host put thought and care into ensuring we were comfortable; from the A/C and nice furnishings, to the fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. They even provided a bath bomb for the outdoor tub (which was to die for, btw). The lake was a short, but strenuous hike away - but also a short drive. Loved the lake. Loved the Empire Mine State Park nearby. The cabin felt remote, but was close to town. We are grateful our dog was welcome. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Such a charming spot! Would love to stay here again. I regret not drinking coffee out in the little back terrace, though! The skylights are fabulous to wake up to and was the much needed stay for a good dose of forest bathing. Thanks Tim!

3 nights at Lazy Bear Cabin

We had a wonderful stay at Jeff's cabin. Jeff was communicative and helpful. The cabin had all the basic necessities and worked well for my teenage daughter and myself. There was plenty of space to explore on the property, and the forest and creek areas were beautiful. If you travel during the summer months, be prepared for lots of mosquitoes. If you visit on a permissible burn day, I highly recommend using the fire pit for a campfire. It was a great way to end our trip. I suggest you bring your own extra toilet paper, towels, dish soap, and hand soap. Some of these items were provided, but it was nice to have extra since there are not any stores nearby. We look forward to visiting in the future.

another incredible stay. kim was so kind and welcoming. she even left me a goodie bag since i’ve stayed there multiple times. it wasn’t too hot even with the heat advisory. i love the new little additions too. the little overhang over the door for when it rains. the little ledge u see the mirror. the stone tiles in the kitchen area. all lovely! i always find peace and rest here, which is why ill always return

It's a truly special place ! We usually do a full takeover of the 4 historical cabins (Serenity, Shambala, Trinity and Geronimo) with ~ 20 friends / family. Serenity is across the pond from the 3 others - a bit more secluded. It feels that we own the forest - no neighbors besides Adam the owner - and liberty for kids to roam around and adult to relax. The main fire-pit is the hanging place, with 2 huge tables to share grilled food. And old gas grill and a smoker complete the set-up. Each room has a basic kitchen well stocked with stove + cooking and serving basics+. There's running cold water and electricity, but drink only the spring water (provided and refillable at the spring). Rooms are basic and comfortable (no curtains, brings eye masks) but they are "forest clean". There's a shower and flush toilet in the owner's house (3 min walk). It's remote, secluded and we love it for that. No cell coverage, but slow wifi by the owner's house for emergency. We like exploring the area - malakoff park, yuba river and many swim holes. I've come every year since 2020 and love it.

Frolic Pond Cabin

Also the American River is another nearby beauty worth exploring. There is so much nature and beauty around our area. Frolic (property name) is a wild place with nature running the show. It is quiet and beautiful. Usually cooler because it is right on the water. The dock goes out to the 5 acre pound which is stocked with Bass. You will need to keep food inside of the Cabin/Sauna because we share the space with the animals that live here. The pond is shared with one other neighbor, so you may see other people playing on the pond or hear nearby activity through the trees. It's a great place to hang your hammock and bring a good book or birdwatch. This has been an adventure for me in Saying Yes to life and the rewarding challenges it brings. I fell in love with the huge grama oaks, the pristine pond and the feral overgrown everything. It has been a workin' progress and lots of time to pause and listen. The property is shaped like a pint glass running north to south, with a lovely bowl the pond sits in and an ancient meadow up behind the cabin. Up the hill, a hotter zone, more exposed with it's own beauty, where we live. On the occasion, one of us may come down to the pond for a swim, especially when it's too hot up top. Frolic has been a great teacher in reminding me to PLAY, relax and go with the flow. I hope you can find the same joy and rejuvenation here.

There is a large fire pit, horseshoes, and a hammock by the creek. Seclusion and quietude in nature yet 4 minutes to downtown Nevada City, 15 min to rivers & lakes, and 45 min to ski resorts. This is the place for people who are tired of rentals that lack amenities or aesthetic quality. This is also a non-toxic, eco-friendly sanctuary. There are four bedrooms in the main house and an optional separate studio to rent. The main house has two bedrooms with king beds, one bedroom with a twin bed and a twin air mattress (if needed), and an enclosed den with a queen murphy bed. This allows 8 people to sleep comfortably. There are 3 bathrooms, one with a lux freestanding soaking tub with forest views. For 9-11 guests, or if you just want extra space for a smaller party, you can rent the separate studio for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee. This is discounted from our regular rates of $210 for 3 people and $188 for 2 people, and our regular cleaning rate of $140. The studio is beautifully renovated with a queen bed, full kitchen, bathroom, and living area with sofa for a child or young adult to sleep on. The main house kitchen is fully equipped-- this is not like other rentals that lack wine glasses or cooking pans! We have a Ninja blender, instant pot/slow cooker, toaster, French press coffee maker, coffee grinder, lots of dishes and utensils, state of the art drinking water filtration system, gas oven and stove, baking dishes and pans, and more. You'll also be provided with organic cooking oil and organic spices. The owner specializes in non-toxic home design so everything from the mattresses and bedding to the soap & shampoo are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and/or organic. You have complete reign of the 8 acre property, including the hot tub, and private creekfront park with gazebo, fire pit, and horseshoe pit. Sometimes we rent out a studio on the property (or you can rent it-- see details above), but studio guests do not have access to acres of the property that are just for you, so the hot tub, fire pit, gazebo, horse shoe pit, and more is yours. If you want total privacy, we can block out the studio from being rented for an additional $75/night, or you can rent it for $125/night plus $99 cleaning fee (see details above). Pack and play, twin air bed, and dining table booster seat with tray are available! Please just request them before you arrive, and bring your own sheet for the pack and play. Air bed is usually needed if 8 guests are staying in the main home (if studio is not rented). It can snow in Nevada City in the winter (beginning in December or January and through March).
