A great getaway in the forest
What a beautiful retreat tucked away in the heart of Sherwood Forest! There is so much wildlife in Danâs place, making it feel truly special. We had a wonderful stay with our two young kids. Dan is an exceptional host. As newcomers to trailer camping, we were so grateful for his help in getting everything set up. He even started a campfire for us, something we rarely get to enjoy with little ones keeping us busy every minute of the day..
It is also a great location to get to Mueller state park, the Colorado wolf center and other great places.
Thank you Dan for the hospitality, and the beautiful gift from your forest that we will cherish in our home!

Dan the man!
Staying here felt like visiting a friend! We were beyond comfortable. Dans place had all we needed and he also provided so many extras. The reviews were completely accurate. He was so kind and helpful! He was so great with our two girls and we spent most evenings chatting with him around the fire and night. We will for sure be back to stay again and will not hesitate to share with all my friends this gem of a place. There is no question his love for this little piece of land and those who visit here (including the wildlife đ). Don't hesitate to book if your considering it... You will not be disappointed!

Dan's place is super fun. He's built in such cute touches everywhere like the swing, the mine, the saloon. We ran several hours late on a chilly night and he had a fire going for us when we got there. Dan himself is full of ideas for great things to do, especially with the kids. And you can't miss the deer and the foxes. We had such a great time and slept comfortably in the RV.

Camping with the animals!
Dan is a great host. Loved his property. He is wealth of information for tourist activities. We went to a VA motorcycle rally, hiked to Horsetail Falls, drove to Pikes Peak. Lots of wildlife coming into camp. We will definitely be back.

A Million Stars!
If I could give this site a million stars, I would. First, this is a small private campsite tucked in a dispersed neighborhood with a great personality. The neighborhood is named Sherwood Forest and all of the street names are on theme with Robin Hood. The campsite itself is cozy with just as much personality and enough amenities to be comfortable while enjoying the wilderness. On our first afternoon we saw mom and baby deer, foxes, hummingbirds, mountain chickadees, woodpeckers, and many other critters. Our kids absolutely loved the fairy garden, big foot/Sasquatch statue, and swing. We loved being tucked in the forest.
Arguably though, the best part of this campsite is the host, Dan. He was so welcoming and helpful, first going above and beyond to rescue us when one of our small kids somehow got ahold of and lost the keys down the side of the van, then providing us guidance on everything we could do in the area that fit the age of our children. Our trip wouldnât have been nearly as fun without him!
Highly recommend if youâre looking for a great place to camp while exploring Divide, Woodland Park, Florissant Fossil Beds, or anything else in the area. I know we will be back!

The outlaw bunks were a great match for my family of three. The cabin is cozy, and the area is quaint. We loved the frequent visits from the deer and foxes. Dan is a great host and gave many great suggestions on enjoying the area.
We visited the area to see the florissant fossil beds national monument and the Colorado wolf and wildlife center and both were conveniently close to the cabin. We also discovered some great restaurants and places to fish that were not a part of the plan and a pleasant surprise.

A wonderful spot and host
This place comes highly recommended. We enjoyed the camping spot, but there is also a RV and a cabin to rent. We hope to make a return visit in the future.

Our family of 3 had an amazing stay at Danâs cabin. The cabin is clean, fully furnished and had literally anything you could possibly need for your stay. We were only able to squeeze two nights of camping into our Colorado trip but after the first night at the cabin we wished we could have stayed much longer! The location is very convenient and close to stores and nearby tourist towns while still being fully submerged into nature. We are looking forward to planning our next stay!

Great Spot!
Dan's place was perfect! He isnso welcoming and has such a cutfamilies! He has a really nice bathroom which was a surprise! The wild animals come right through his property and he will make sure you have plenty of fire wood! This would also be a great place for multiple famlies!

Dan was a super helpful and friendly host. He helped me set up my RV and had a lot of information about things to see and do in the area. The spot was absolutely adorable and homey feeling. There was plenty of wildlife roaming around that was also very friendly. The other campers were also outgoing. I would definitely stay here again if I were to come back to the area.

Great accommodations and host!
Dan was a really great host. Gave us several really good recommendations in the area that we enjoyed and were glad we took his advice. Cabin was perfect for myself, and 2 other people. Bathroom was surprisingly nice, big and clean compared to any other similar place Iâve stayed in the past. Very convenient location to a ton of great hikes, Muller State Park, and a bunch of cool little towns. My wife and I will definitely be going back in the fall for the leaf changes. Great getaway in the Aspen forest
What we loved most about being on Danâs land was his hospitality. He is lovely - very friendly, easy going, perfect tour guide for the community. Offered us all kinds of tips and advice - Let us borrow his battery charger for our river tubing excursion, made sure the kids had every opportunity to see wildlife and feed the sweet deer that visit the property frequently. He was great, while also giving us our privacy. Perfect host! The RV was right off the road which we werenât expecting but turned out to be fine as the neighborhood is very quiet and you still feel you are out in the woods after all. We loved taking walks down the dirt roads surrounded by aspen groves. There is quite a bit to do and see in the surrounding towns; so much, in fact, that we didnât get to cover it all! Great trip and great memories for us all. Thanks Dan!

Dan's property is the perfect spot to rough it without roughing it. You really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere but so accessible to a variety of Colorado attractions suchđđ
Rita The Troll and Mueller State Park. He was extremely gracious and helpful with anything you needed and went out of his way to accommodate us on a last minute trip. From all the critters in camp to great times around the fire, Dan's little slice of heaven nestled in amongst the Aspen trees fits the bill perfectly. We can't wait to go back!!

We had an awesome time staying at the Outlaw Bunks! Dan was super welcoming and gave us a ton of helpful info about the area. A real highlight were the wildlife around the cabinâ super friendly deer we got to feed and some foxes that liked to hang around. Would definitely come back.

We recently went camping and had the pleasure of staying with an absolutely incredible host. Truly, he is one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. His hospitality and kindness were unparalleled; no other host we've encountered has come close to matching his generosity and warmth.
From the moment we arrived, he made us feel like part of his extended family. He went way above and beyond, exceeding any expectations we had. It wasnât just about providing a place to stay; it was about creating an unforgettable experience. One of the highlights of our weekend was spending time with his delightful granddaughters, who were so friendly and welcoming. I would 100% go back to this place. Dan was super helpful and kind, we were new to the area and he helped us find the lake nearby and recommend all of the best sight to go visit. The camping area was very calm and peaceful. The RV was clean when we got there and very fitting for my family of 5. I 10/10 recommended this place for families who are looking forward to camping!

Best camp host ever!
My family and I decided to do a last-minute trip up to Mueller Park area. Because itâs so difficult to book a campsite we went on to Hipcamp and found Danâs property. We were not familiar with The area around Danâs property so we were very curious to know what we would experience one we arrived. First of all, Danâs property is amazing. He has put so much heart and soul into developing different areas for campers comfort and the thoughtful design just blew us away. Thereâs plenty of wildlife and We felt close to nature and very safe. From day, one and booking our stay He was fantastic at communicating with us. He answered every question we had in a timely and complete manner. Danâs, Camp is amazing and exceeded our expectations.
Now, the part that I could go on and on about is how fantastic Dan is as a host and great human.. Our family has some unique mobility challenges and some difficulty getting comfortable in our camper. Dan went above and beyond helping us with whatever needed. . Dan is an amazing guyâŚhe is kind, thoughtful, loves nature and family. My boys (in their 20s) love to Fly fish, but did not know the area at all so Dan being a generous guy that he is, offered to give us a tour of the river and great fishing spots for the boys to fish. We also and had a wonderful riverside picnics.

Peaceful Setting, Wonderful Host
My husband and I hadnât camped since we were young (and, even then, it was rough tent camping), but some friends of ours recently got a pop-up camper and they offered for us to borrow it and give it a try. Danâs place was the perfect spot to get away and give RV-camping a shot. Itâs a lovely wooded setting - we heard all kinds of birds, deer lazily wandered around the property, and Dan said some bears had been in the area within a day of our stay, although we didnât get to see them this time. Dan is incredibly kind and generous with his land, his camping expertise, and his time. We will absolutely stay at Danâs place again in the future. Thanks so much, Dan!

Danâs property is the perfect getaway for leaf peeping! We spent a day and a half with our two girls, and they absolutely loved the amount of deer that walked around on the land. Dan even recommended bringing some extra grapes to feed them. Sure enough they ate all the ones we could spare. It was so cool. Thank you again for everything, Dan!

We had a great stay at Dan's place. He was friendly and helpful and his place was central for getting everywhere we wanted to go. We stayed in a spot with our camper, but he also has a cute little cabin to rent as well as a camper to rent. Lots of options! We would definitely stay there again.

Dan - best host ever!
We had a great time at Danâs getaway. We booked the RV for 2 nights and couldnât have been happier with everything that came with it. Dan is such a sweet host and goes out of his way to make his guests feel comfortable. The kids had a blast with him especially the encounter with the deers and feeding them. Dan set up movies for them each night in the outdoor movie theatre. Dan also took us to witness a herd of elks and it was fascinating how he could communicate with them with the elk bugle tube that he had.
The RV is setup amidst a galore of aspen tress. It has everything that you would need to have a great time from pots pans, basic spice, a grill and a fire pit (Dan sets it up with firewood as well). Dan has done a great job with everything on his property and it is commendable how he has built all of it on his own. Dan gave us suggestions on what we could do both days and he is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to the area around Divide and Colorado Springs. He even volunteered to take our kids fishing. Kids would wake up in the morning and run over and hover around Danâs cabin, which is on the property itself and wait for him to wake up, which showed how much they adored him.
Thank you Dan for an amazing experience and we will surely be back again.

Perfect EASY Camping
We had a wonderful time at the camp! We especially appreciated the full working bathroom and shower, and all of the extras were included. As long as you bring some blankets, your food, and the makings for s'mores, you're guaranteed to have a great time with your family.

A disabled guestâs point of view
I am so glad I found this place on Hipcamp! I booked space for my brother who is physically and developmentally disabled and me to spend a couple of nights. We were welcomed to Divide with lightning and a thunderstorm which was pretty spectacular. Hearing the rain and thunder from inside the camper was rhythmic and lovely.
The next morning was sunny and coolâand just as the host Dan had mentioned, deer meandered through the trees.
Yes, the nature is refreshing, and yes, the RV is stocked with everything you need to enjoy yourselvesâbut I have to share my biggest gratitude is for Dan himself. He quickly jumped in the night of our arrival by helping me maneuver my brotherâs wheelchair through the rain and wet path. Then he went even further by unloading some more things while I got my brother acclimated to the inside of the camper. He delivered our orientation with animal stories that added extra excitement to the safety briefing. Ask him about all the animals that have wandered through his property and Iâm sure heâll tell you too!
I have to admit I was feeling some effects of the abrupt high altitude change I had made. I guess hindsight is always 20/20. Dan offered advice to help navigate that challenge. He even came back to help us load up and posed for a pic with my bro at our request.
My brother was not affected by the high altitudeâbut he WAS affected by the incredible time he had and the kindness from Dan. Couldnât ask for a better host.
