JCO at Lee Baysden Pond
15 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents86 acres · NCThe pond was originally much smaller and a mill pond in the 1920's and features a long dam along one side. It is a 22 acre lake, 2 smaller ponds and surrounded by woods, swamp, and fields, a total of 90 acres. The Lee Baysden Pond was originally owned by Mr. Lee Baysden himself and first opened for fishing in 1956. The store/office is the original detached kitchen from his homeplace, which is the white house just up the street. We still use this today and it has Mr. Lee Baysden's handwriting in the store that states opened June 1956. The pond was owned and fished until the late 1990's. A hurricane damaged the dam and land was sold sometime after. The next owner dug the pond into the lake it is today and fixed the dam. It was deemed private and no fishing was permitted during this time frame. In 2020 My husband Tyler, and I decided to buy the Pond when we saw the signs up for sale. It was way overgrown and covered in algae and duck weed, but we saw the potential and love for the lake in our community. We could not see it developed off into housing. We created JCO, Juniper Creek Outfitters and Guide Service, fall 2020 and began to restore the lake and land to better than ever! We also have cabins in the works for 2022. We have had several community events hosting fishing tournaments, fireworks, music, and food trucks. Our camp office/store is opened most weekends and fishing passes available 7 days a week online from sunrise-dark. Our lake features fishing for Bass, Crappie, Bream, Catfish, Bowfin, Panfish, and more. Check out our facebook page for all the latest news and catches! We are continually trying to make JCO and Lee Baysden Pond a great place in our community for friends and families!

Sapphire Farms
4 sites · RVs, Tents225 acres · Vernon Hill, VAThis farm is one of the oldest farms in Virginia dating back to the 1780's. We renamed the farm in 2012 to Sapphire Farms when we purchased the last remaining 225 acres out of 600 acres with the main farmhouse. This farm has streams, springs, a pond, trees, and old tobacco barns great for exploring. We also raise endangered heritage livestock breeds.  This is a working farm that had been in limbo for years. We want to return it to its glory and remain in operation for many more years to come. We do not use any chemicals on the fields that would pollute the water or soil. We replant trees to help clean the air and provide food for wildlife.  Sapphire Farms is one of the few farms engaged in healthy farming practices for soil and water in our area. Practicing bio-diversity farming to insure health of food, livestock, and us. When you visit, notice how green the grass is, how green and healthy the trees are, more importantly look at the water that flows on the farm. The pond is healthy and thriving. I am not sure the work is ever completed, but we hope that visitors who stay on the farm will see the beauty as we do daily. Enjoy.

Twin Poplar Farm
3 sites · Tents65 acres · Amherst, VAThe Farm is located on 65 private acres of Woods and Field on the Tye River. This is a place for people who love nature and want to be out in it. We have chosen to prioritize conservation over ease of access, so though the sites are all walk in only [or paddle in!] this means you will camp on the grass or leaves not the gravel of a parking lot. There are only 3 sites on the land so you can soak up nature without noisy neighbors. "Twin Poplar" refers to the Tulip Poplar's extraordinary tenacity, after being cut down, like the Phoenix who returns to life after death, a Poplar will often regrow as two "twin" trunks. A chance for a new life and growth! For more follow us on Instagram @TwinPoplarFarm
