Let your kids experience the best the river has to offer by exploring the shallows for crayfish, chasing minnows, or watching for Bald Eagles patrolling the river. Our property is centrally located to White Oak Canyon (20 minutes) and Old Rag Mountain (10 minutes) trailheads in the Shenandoah National Park as well as many vineyards and breweries. Located conveniently between Richmond and Charlottesville only 3 miles off I-64 but feels like the secluded countryside. I decided last minute to get out for a quick overnight trip and do some camping/fishing. Found this place not too far from me. It’s wintertime so I had the place to myself, except a bunch of Beavers and some Deer. Everything was as described, I think even during the warmer months there is enough separation between sites that you would have a good amount of privacy while still being right near the water. There are kayaks for use and lots of good fishing spots. The host was cool and helpful. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Indian Camp Lane

We absolutely love coming to the cabin. This was the second time and during a different season and it was equally serene and peaceful. The family is very friendly and helpful and cares a lot which shows. It is definitely becoming a little sanctuary for us away from the hussle and bussle of the daily life and a place of gratitude, peace and calm and spending time in nature, in prayer and with the Lord. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place.

We had a great stay! The host Dave was an incredibly fast responder and very helpful! We stayed in the winter so it was quite chilly, just bring lots of blankets! Night one of our arrival it had just snowed, we had a little trouble getting up the hill, luckily we have AWD. I think without snow you could make it up the hill even without AWD. We would certainly stay again or recommend to another!

This cabin was absolutely lovely. I cannot recommend it enough! The wood burning stove kept us cozy on chilly nights, and we got great sleep in the loft. The farm pup is adorable!! The kitchen was fabulous and had everything we needed. This was the perfect place to spend a birthday get-away. There were a few wasps and one did find its way into a sleeping bag, but that comes with being outdoors. The town nearby is lovely and the largest antique warehouse in the country is just down the road! Plus proximity to lots of hiking. We can’t wait to come back!

Private, quiet stream-front site. Our lab loved frolicking in the stream. Site was level and well-sized for my truck and camping trailer. In the summer, it would get a lot of sun over the southern ridge opposite the river, so solar collection would work. In November, sun was in short supply, and the sun angle was pretty low, so we just barely eked by. We bring our own bathroom facilities(Cleanwaste GO), but other campers who don’t want to be digging cat holes should be aware that there are no bathroom facilities if they are staying on site for a long time. Convenient to Old Rag for day hikers, and Montpelier for history buffs. No trouble with raccoons etc, but we kept our food secured just in case. Nice steel fire pit, which made cooking over the fire a breeze.

Shireton was the perfect cozy weekend getaway! The handmade touches, props, and themed details made everything feel so enchanted and magical. I also loved that the front door opened right into the sunset (the door itself is gorgeous). We had so much fun doing archery with the on-site bow and arrows, relaxing by the fire, and enjoying the copper tub/shower. Truly a charming, whimsical stay :)

Super dope area to camp, a few sites to choose from but the pond side was a nice choice for me and my group. Greg reached out early in the day for entry information and was responsive when we got a bit lost (the darkness confused things a bit). Flat and safe land - ideal for pitching a tent, easy to navigate on site, gorgeous sunrise and since it's at the top of a hill the sun hits just right. Would love to visit again and would for sure recommend!
