Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield. The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion. It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic tables, grassy area along with an portapotty. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. Enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the western end of the lake.

We are excited to offer 3 off-grid log cabins, providing a highly private setting. 20 min to Parry Sound. These cabins are located within 75 acres of forest. Each cabin features either two single beds or one king-size bed. Cabins are insulated but have no heat so bring own pillows, blankets and sleeping bags. Accommodation is limited to two adults per cabin.
Common areas for all cabins include:
1) Outdoor Kitchen (includes pots, pans, dishes, cups, utensils etc.),
2) Freezer/Fridge,
3) BBQ,
4) Indoor Shower (hot and cold water),

The large BBQ is equipped with 5 burners for the grill. There is also 1 side pot burner for foiling water and another ceramic grilling burner.

From Hwy 400, get off on hwy 141. Go east towards Rosseau. Turn left at Tally Hoe/Swords, then right at Turtle lake rd and left at Star lake rd.
Explore the various trails for hiking, mountain biking, and even a small white water creek. There are plenty of lakes in the surrounding area. Seguin Trail is just 1 km away. A beautiful Maple Key Park and sandy beach awaits you only 4 km from the site. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the nearby historic town of Orrville.
Stay here for a day or a week, this off-grid little resort has all the necessities that one would need, and make you want to come back again! These 3 off-grid log cabins, providing a highly private setting. Explore the various trails for hiking, mountain biking, and even a small white water creek. Fire wood is all around the forest Pick anything that is down and enjoy the common fire pit. Also a flashlight and some bug spray might help.

4) Absolutely no candles allowed, (if desired please use insents only!)

Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield. The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion. It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort. The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

The public beach for swimming is a quick walk down Beach Road. It has a large dock, picnic tables, grassy area along with an portapotty. Or check out the sandbar and drop off at the boat launch at the end of the road. The lake has a diverse shoreline and perfect for small boats and kayaks. Enjoy beautiful sunsets overlooking the western end of the lake.

We are excited to offer 3 off-grid log cabins, providing a highly private setting. 20 min to Parry Sound. These cabins are located within 75 acres of forest. Each cabin features either two single beds or one king-size bed. Cabins are insulated but have no heat so bring own pillows, blankets and sleeping bags. Accommodation is limited to two adults per cabin.
Common areas for all cabins include:
1) Outdoor Kitchen (includes pots, pans, dishes, cups, utensils etc.),
2) Freezer/Fridge,
3) BBQ,
4) Indoor Shower (hot and cold water),

The large BBQ is equipped with 5 burners for the grill. There is also 1 side pot burner for foiling water and another ceramic grilling burner.
Additionally, we have three tent spots available, with one designated for each cabin. There is ample parking space for guests. You can enjoy the convenience of a shower with hot water and a BBQ pit.

From Hwy 400, get off on hwy 141. Go east towards Rosseau. Turn left at Tally Hoe/Swords, then right at Turtle lake rd and left at Star lake rd.
Explore the various trails for hiking, mountain biking, and even a small white water creek. There are plenty of lakes in the surrounding area. Seguin Trail is just 1 km away. A beautiful Maple Key Park and sandy beach awaits you only 4 km from the site. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the nearby historic town of Orrville.
Stay here for a day or a week, this off-grid little resort has all the necessities that one would need, and make you want to come back again! These 3 off-grid log cabins, providing a highly private setting. Explore the various trails for hiking, mountain biking, and even a small white water creek. There are plenty of lakes in the surrounding area. Seguin Trail is just 1 km away.
Fire wood is all around the forest Pick anything that is down and enjoy the common fire pit. Also a flashlight and some bug spray might help.
This is a family oriented camping:
1) Please refrain from using offensive language,

3) Please place all cigarette butts in fire pit,
4) Absolutely no candles allowed, (if desired please use insents only!)
5) Parties allowed only upon verbal consent from the management,
6) We have no cleaning fee so please keep your cabin neat and tidy.
7) Before checkout please place all garbage in and around the cabin into main bin located beside the outdoor kitchen.
8) Cabin floor should be swept using broom provided in the cabin.

Private, peaceful and beautifully set in a lovely spot surrounded by creation. Yvonne and her husband are friendly and ensure their guests have everything they need. They marked a trail to make snowshoeing easy and enjoyable.
Highly recommend this special place. Thank you very much for sharing and look forward to returning.

A beautiful, private spot to relax and unwind! Sara was a wonderful host and made our stay so comfortable! The property is absolutely beautiful and the cabin was exactly what we needed for a weekend away to dissconnect & connect with each other! The dog also loved it! :)

My partner and I had a lovely time staying at Yvonne's cabin. Beautiful setting surrounded by gorgeous fall colours. Yvonne and her husband were very friendly and provided great communication. Lovely spending the weekend without electricity!

A beautiful and accessible but secluded spot! Great for a relaxed car camping experience. The host was helpful and responsive. Fire pit and provided chairs/picnic tables were all in excellent condition. Bathroom also excellent and clean. 10 / 10 would camp again!

We had an amazing time at the off grid cabin! It’s truly a relaxing and serene place with no outside noise at all. The setup is great for being so remote!

Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

Perfect weekend in a perfect cabin in the perfect location. We will be booking again for sure. I shouldn't say too much we might have a hard time booking tholis perfect place but wow it was everything you could ask for in a weekend getaway.

Weekend Trip to Cabin In The Woods
The cabin is perfect for a weekend getaway, it's beautifully designed and maintained and is tucked away in the woods which gives you your privacy and lots of trails to explore. I went in early October so got to see beautiful fall colors. Yvonne and Glenn were wonderful hosts, very friendly and lovely people. I'd definitely recommend this place.

I’m truly glad I discovered this place. My friends and I found so much more than we expected. The Mitziville team was incredibly welcoming and accommodating — thanks to them, I was able to organize a surprise birthday celebration for my husband and bring together our big group of friends.
We were absolutely thrilled with our spot: a spacious area with several fire pits, a provided toilet, and picnic tables. It felt private and peaceful since the nearby sites were set far apart. It’s one of those rare moments when you stumble upon a hidden gem. The nature was stunning, and the grounds were beautifully maintained.
We’ll definitely be back — our group has been looking for a place like this for a long time

nice little secluded spot! got the whole place to ourselves for our getaway. always greeted by the friendliest dog ever when we left and came back. super hot water. everything was very clean. overall a great location :)

Everything about this place was perfect for us! It was easy to find, private and clean.
Our site was right on the water with a fire pit and a picnic table. The outhouse was impeccably cleaned and close to our site. We had access to kayaks and a canoe however, we didn't end up having time to use them.
Hayley was extremely responsive and friendly.
We definitely recommend staying here if you're in the area!

Compared to most campground sites this is a nice private spot. The quiet river makes a beautiful view and I appreciated the free kayak available with the site. Check in was easy and friendly. There is a public area beside the site which meant there are occasionally people near by but it wasn’t a problem. At other times it was very quiet.

We very much appreciated and enjoyed our time in the cabin! I love how private and secluded it is, surrounded by beautiful forest with marked trails! The wood stove was glorious, the bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had everything I needed. Would definitely come back. Thank you so much for hosting us!

We had an amazing time here. Wendi is super friendly and thoughtful, she checked what we needed and reminded us about the cold.
The horse experience was the best part. Grooming them felt so calming and the horses are beautiful and very friendly.
The firewood amount is really generous and lasts a long time. The campsite is spacious with lots of privacy. At night it was perfect for stargazing, I saw so many stars and even a few shooting stars.
The toilet is very clean and everything here feels well cared for. I also admire how much Wendi and her family have built in just a few years, they are really living my dream life.
Overall this was way better than camping in a provincial park. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back.
