Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

There are two cabins now on the property, but one is brand new and private and not accessible- it will be vacant for your stay. There is also a private sauna, but is also not accessible. The cabin pictured is in the middle of a private 5-acre property across from Turtle Lake and spans turtle lake road, to Donnelly and Poke Road, so it’s easily defined by the roads around the land. There is no direct access to the lake, but there are many lakes and beaches within a short drive. There are also many quaint towns to visit, beautiful hiking trails to explore all nearby. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

Sparrow Lake Camp is situated on the southernmost tip of the majestic Canadian Shield.  The site is known to have been a campground for bands of the Huron people prior to the European intrusion.  It is considered probable that Samuel de Champlain, the first European to explore Huronia, spent a night on this site in the 17th Century.In 1892, what would become the west side of the current property was sold by pioneer Captain Thomas Stanton to Toronto's renowned Massey family to act as their summer resort.  The resort sported the main lodge, dining room, and cottages and was only accessible by train and steamer. From the onset, the Masseys used the site as a summer retreat for the Young Men's Bible League of the Central Methodist Church. Today, the property is a thriving summer camp that also offers overnight tent stays with stunning lake views.

The cabin pictured is in the middle of a private 5-acre property across from Turtle Lake and spans turtle lake road, to Donnelly and Poke Road, so it’s easily defined by the roads around the land. There is no direct access to the lake, but there are many lakes and beaches within a short drive. There are also many quaint towns to visit, beautiful hiking trails to explore all nearby. The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

The cabin was charming and cozy, it came with various board games to pass the time and a telescope to enjoy the stars at night. The hammocks or what my partner and I call the nest was relaxing. We also had a golden retriever visit us on our 2nd and last day in the cabin. She was very friendly. If ever she does wander off on your visit, its the neighbor's dog, she is not lost, she's just enjoying the nature like the rest of us.

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at Sabrina’s cabin and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect—just a 10-minute drive from Rosseau, where we found a fantastic general store that had everything we needed (including firewood). We took our dogs to a nearby beach, grabbed great pizza at Rosseau Pizzeria on the boardwalk, treated ourselves to gelato, and browsed a charming antique shop in town. The cabin itself was amazing—extremely clean, cozy, and full of personality. Sabrina has thought of everything: a full-sized fridge, coffee maker, electric heater that kept the cabin nice and toasty, and even a whole upper loft we didn’t end up needing because the pullout couch on the main floor was perfect for us. Our big dog and mini poodle had plenty of space to stretch out too. The outhouse was surprisingly spacious and spotless, stocked with toilet paper and featuring a working sink with running water both inside and outside for washing dishes. We spent most of our time by the fire pit, which was large enough for a group and surrounded by ample seating. Between the two wooden picnic tables, the big deck, and the covered area with hammocks, there were endless spots to relax, cook, and enjoy the outdoors. Even though the cabin is just off a road, the trees and forest create a real sense of seclusion and peace—you quickly forget there’s any traffic nearby. Sabrina was extremely kind and welcoming, and we couldn’t have asked for a better host. We’d happily come back!

Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Derrick and Rachel's place! It was everything we dreamed of. The place is private, quiet and you are able to fully relax here. The Dome is beautiful, set high with gorgeous lake views. It is clean, extremely comfortable and has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. They have every amenity you require, and excellent seating areas outside (around the fire, and at the dock). The available kayak, canoe and paddleboards allows you to fully enjoy the property. The sauna/shower was such a nice touch and a great way to unwind at the end of the day. If you are looking for a hidden gem, slice or paradise, or the perfect getaway this is your place! Rachel was very responsive and helpful. We highly recommend.

The outhouse was impeccably cleaned and close to our site. We had access to kayaks and a canoe however, we didn't end up having time to use them. Hayley was extremely responsive and friendly. The cabin was great, clean and spacious. It also smelled amazing!! We had a bit of trouble with the hot water at the shower, but after finicking with the ignition and propane tank we managed to get it working. TIP: you have to make sure you successfully ignited the heater which can take a dozen tries. Turn the water on and wait for 30 seconds until a continuous stream of hot water comes out.

Launch your boat or canoe at the Little Doe Lake boat ramp located at the mouth of the Magnetawan river and paddle your way to the campsite, which is approximately 4 to 5 kms downstream of the boat launch. The campsite is similar to backcountry campsites where you need to bring everything you need, including drinking water, with you. There is an open air treasure chest aka a Thunder Box, a fire pit, camp chairs, a small table for your cook stove and lots of space for your tents!

This "Cozy Cabin" sleeps 4 in beds comfortably, however someone may sleep on the couch or pitch tents on the property or by the water. Located on a 1 acre property on Magnetawan River in Dunchurch, Ontario this little piece of heaven is a separate area in front of our cottage and should be used as a "glamping experience" on water. We love to host people for time away in the fresh forest country air. Many enjoy their time here hiking, fishing or just hanging out reading a book, playing some games or relaxing. You are more than welcome to use our canoe and kayaks, just be sure to wear life jackets, your safety is a priority to us. Dunchurch is well known for its amazing trails such as the Wild Cat ATV Trail only 10 mins from the front door of the Cabin. We are happy to allow you to use the area at your leisure however, please note you must have your own ATV’s and insurance for riding recreational/motorized vehicles, we do not provide coverage for this. If you are considering guides for ATV Trail riding, please let us know. We are happy to make separate bookings for this on weekdays or even weekends. There is an Outhouse just steps from the Cozy Cabin front door to be used for your bathroom needs (just note there is no running water in either the Outhouse or the Cabin). There is a wash station beside the Outhouse for cleaning up, washing dishes or meal prep. Loads of private parking for vehicle(s), recreational toys or other. Inside the Cabin is a queen bed and twin bunks, down filled couch, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, bar size fridge and some games are included for your enjoyment. Be sure to bring along bedding (including pillow cases) and anything else you would bring along camping. Outside the Cabin is a fire pit (bring along firewood wood), charcoal bbque (bring along charcoal), waterfront/beach, a community park a min walking distance away for play time (sand volleyball court, swing set). Wifi, TV and Fire Stick provided. Wake up in the morning and enjoy your own porch with rocking chairs to watch the sun come up. We are only 30 mins to Parry Sound for all your amenities. Dunchurch also has Whitestone Lake with Public swimming, boat launch and Community Centre, LCBO, Nurses Station and Conveniences which is only 10 mins away. Whitestone is also well known for 11 lakes within a 5 km radius of the property. Just a wee reminder of what's Included/Excluded: Excluded: Life jackets, bath/kitchen towels, dishes/cups/mugs/utensils, cooking tools, paper towels, garbage bags, bedding (sheets, pillow cases, etc), cleaning supplies, charcoal for the bbque, firewood, lighters or recreational toys. . Included: Coffee maker, kettle, toaster, bar size fridge, internet, tv, fire stick, bbque (bring charcoal), private parking, fire pit (bring firewood) and complimentary use of the waterfront, kayak(s), canoe and community park. Just a reminder to bring lots of drinking water. There is a FREE fill station in Dunchurch at the side of the Community Centre if you require more, just bring along your bottles.
