This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.
Here is what the land offers:
-Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023
-Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table
-Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River.

5G/LTE cellphone service is good for Bell, Rogers and Telus networks. We have 3 outhouses on the premises and an outdoor hot shower.
FREE Firewood can be gathered on the forest floor or pay for on-site pre-cut wood. Outhouses are close to campsites....but not too close 💩
Port Rowan is only 12 minutes away by car, most amenities can be purchased only 1 minute away at the local Busy Bee gas station.
We are situated in the middle of a Recreation Hotspot! Our site is within 3 minutes of paddling the Big Creek, 3 to 10 minutes to several A+ hiking trails, 15 minutes to amazing freshwater beaches of Long Point and Turkey Point, and the area is abound with cycling trails, motorcycle routes, geocaching, boat launches (we have room here for your boat!), cider/wine tours, and more! We are the perfect basecamp for everything the Long Point Bay area has to offer
We have some great watering holes nearby like burning kiln winery, hounds of Erie and Charlotteville brewing company.

The newest addition to the property are two goats that think they are dogs and will greet you.

Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community.
Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie.
Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. Use of a kid's swingset and olympic trampoline. Swimming and fishing.

Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound.
We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land.
There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails.
Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps.
It is a marsh, not a lake.

There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :)
This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.
There is no water or power, but there is an outhouse
Please note that in the winter months. There’s a $25 surcharge.
This is required for snow removal to access the sites that are at at least 1 km into the bush.
We are in a snow belt area and it is very difficult to keep the sites open in the winter.

Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too.
We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution.
Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog.
During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey, and homemade baked goods, are also available to purchase too. (check out our "Extras" Section at booking page.

There are four acres of woods to explore right beside Townsend Lake, a small, quiet lake perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The lake warms up quickly in the spring and is great to swim in. There is a cabin that sleeps three and a bunkie that sleeps two. A $20 discount will be provided if both are booked by one family. Many camping items are provided, like a Coleman stove, tables, dishes, and a screen shelter. There is also a levelled off tent site with a private fire pit.
You will have access to the dock and a large fire pit area which are part of the owner’s cottage on the property. There will be a port-a-potty on site.
Lake Townsend is close to several conservation areas and 12 minutes to the quaint town of Markdale with several shops, a bakery, and a large grocery store.
The city of Owen Sound is 35 minutes away. Harrison Park and Inglis Falls are huge attractions in the area. Each area has its own beauty and the hiking path between the two is quite spectacular.
Parts of the famous hiking trail, The Bruce Trail, are also easily accessible from Townsend Lake.
But once you get settled in, you may just want to rest and relax at the lake! It has its own beauty and serenity and is home to many bird species and other wildlife.
Cedar Acres is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy nature.

Our group had a wonderful time at Gillian’s campsite. The place is beautiful wide open space and a river by the site. Peaceful and exclusive to your group. The owners were accommodating and very helpful with moving all of our camping gears using their ATV. There’s some activities for the kids kept them entertained. Looking forward to be back in this place again soon!

Relaxing visit.
Everything that could be controlled was. Pond was clean and relaxing. We used lemongrass oil to control the tick issue. We found several around but thankfully none on us. Mosquitos werent an issue. The cabin is cozy and comfortable. We had to cut our vacation short by a day but we still enjoyed the time we had there.

This was the best glamping experience ever. We LOVE camping, but wanted a new adventure. This was exactly what we needed. The airplane is beyond cool, the cabin is perfectly cozy. We went exploring the land and it was amazing. The silence, no neighbours, peace and beauty were everything we could’ve wanted and more! Rick was kind and responsive. Even the outhouse is cute and clean. I would recommend this site and experience to anyone who loves camping, but wants to elevate the experience.

Very nice property and clean, private cabins with a big spot to park cars or set up extra tents if need be. Clear instructions on where to go, and nice trails.

Weekend Trip to Edges Sideroad Springs
My husband and I had a great stay in the A-frame! Everything we needed was provided which was such a great way to camp. The A-Frame was very clean. I’m so used to cabins having spider webs, but this one didn’t have any! It’s a very quiet space, far enough away from other sites, we didn’t even end up seeing anyone else our whole visit. The fire pit had seats and a picnic table provided, plus a grate to put over the fire to cook. The $15 unlimited wood was the perfect touch to have everything we needed. This was our first time in this area and we found so many fun things to do. We went to the town of Durham for coffee and bubble tea. We went to Hogg Falls, McGowan Falls, and Eugenia Falls. Our favourite coffee shop was one called Valley Espresso! And our favourite meal was at a food truck called Good Child- such amazing food. I would 100% recommend this camp!

Weekend Trip to Glamping Under the Stars
Julie is one of the best hosts I've dealt with!! She's extremely personable and so sweet! I mentioned in my booking message the fact my fiancee and I recently got engaged and we found a very sweet note left by Julie congratulating us!!! The camp itself is very easy to find and HUGE!! Julie left us a healthy supply of bug spray and provided us with a bug net for the bed! All in all it was well worth it the location was gorgeous and the host was so friendly!!!

4 nights at Highland Farms N Stables
We are long time tenters, but this year we decided to try something different and we found this campground with the mini cabins. I will stay here at the outset that we enjoyed this place very much and we stayed for six nights. The cabins are very well kept and clean and also very private. Fortunately for us, there were no other campers on site when we were there but even if the campsite were full you would still have plenty of privacy. The owners are also super friendly and helpful.
We felt that the location was very Central to all of the other day activities that we carried out. We were able to visit several provincial parks during our stay and used this campsite as our base. We earlier had purchased a season pass for the provincial parks which paid for itself after just a few days. You can drive in several directions from this campsite and enjoy wonderful scenery, as well as several provincial parks. A brief ride into Bancroft if you want to re-enter civilization for a while and grab a quick coffee. Bancroft also has a wonderful little park right in the middle of town.
Maynooth itself has several nice little shops that you can pick up some souvenirs or other essential items. Locals are warm and friendly.
Bring extra water with you or pick it up at the entrance on the way into the campsite. Also, the mattress in the bed area may not be to everyone's liking and you may need some extra padding,so keep that in mind.
We highly recommend this place.

Beautiful place with about 2h drive from Toronto. We come with a dog, and my puppy loves this place too! Had a lot of first time experience here, kayaking, boating, bonfire…the bunky is cozy and just the right size for two. Joan is super friendly and helpful as…well we made quite some trouble. But she came and rescue us!!!

A nice and cozy spot to stay. The bunkie is comfortable and bigger than you'd expect, it really is a good base for adventures in the region. Quiet and private as well. We'll be coming back I'm sure!
