3 bed Cabin built on a bluff among the maples. Cabin includes 3 double beds. One is a private room and two up in the loft. Boat access only! Sonora island does not have a ferry. We are currently only accepting booking from folks who have access to a private boat. Once on the island it is a 3-4km walk down the main road (which is usually muddy if there was recent rain) to the cabin. No service and no wifi. Make sure you arrange your pick up before being dropped off. Guests need to be fit to hike up to the cabin. This is a unique fully remote and off grid escape that is not for everyone! Please reach out if you have any questions! Pack in your own bedding/ sleeping bags. 5 minute walk to our private gravel beach over looking the ‘Hole in the Wall’ rapids. Site 1 is best suited for tents and small campervans, less than 18' or so (though people with small trailers like tear drop campers have been fine). Site 2 has a much larger flat area that can hold RVs up to 30'. Cabin available for those that want to sleep in a cozy bed and have a warm fire :) Outhouse on the property, which is just a pit toilet. It is a working farm so will likely have various equipment around at times as well as workers at certain times of the year. You’ll likely meet our very friendly and very energetic Bernedoodle, Bernie. If you prefer to keep him out of your campsite just let us know and we can keep him closer. Otherwise, he thinks he has the run of the place! Please check to see if campfires are allowed (live in a high-risk fire zone) and firewood is available with an extra charge. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. We can also provide a comfy hound bed in the room at your request. We kindly ask that you keep your fur baby off the furniture and bed, and that you please not leave your pet unattended. We bought this property in 2008 as raw land with an old off-grid 1950's cabin on it. While the log structure was sound, the cabin needed some major renovations to be liveable. We undertook renovations, lived in it for 6 months and then moved into a yurt on a more accessible section of our property. Welcome to the cabins at Wendego Lodge on Tranquille Lake. Enjoy your 100% off-grid, rustic cabin in the middle of the BC wilderness. You are right on the lake with beautiful views and may see bald eagles, osprey and moose. This is an all-season property: swimming, boating, hiking and quadding in the SUMMER, hunting in the FALL, and ice fishing, snowmobiling (100s of km of trail right from your door) in the WINTER. All year long fish for natural rainbow trout and Kokanee. This is a rustic 100% off-grid experience! There is no electricity in the cabins and cold running water in the summer. SLEEPING: The cabin has two bedrooms separated by curtains from the living space and features: One queenTwo single bunksOne double futon HEATING/COOKING:There is a wood stove for heat and cooking and wood is supplied and cold running water in the summer months. A wood burning BBQ is available for use and a huge upright smoker for your fish haul (bring your own propane cylinder). BATHROOMS: There are no bathrooms in the cabin. Flush toilets and hot showers are available in the wash house steps away in the summer and in the lodge in the other months. ELECTRICITY: The cabins have no electricity. Please bring your own lanterns and flashlights. WATER FUN: The cabin is RIGHT ON THE WATER and in the summer we have dock for jumping off of or launching a boat. We have kayaks, floaties and paddle boards available on a first come first served basis. Boat rental with 6.5 HP motor also available for $99 a day. Ice fishing is excellent in the winter. WE PROVIDE: dishes, cups, mugs, cutlery, cooking pots and some utensils. YOU NEED TO BRING: whatever you need for sleeping (bags or blankets and sheets, pillows), food, drinking water, and personal items such as towels and toiletries. Firewood and water (from the lake) for washing is provided. There is no fridge so you will need to bring a cooler with ice for your perishables. Town is an hour away. CHECK-OUT: Please leave the cabin clean and tidy and pack out all your garbage and left-over food. ACCESS: We are located 50 km down a logging road and we advise access only by 4-wheel drive vehicles although many cars have made it in the summer. In the winter, access is an ice road. Drivable but slippery. We request that you call/email when you hit the gravel road 50 km away so we know when to expect you. Wakita encompasses 25 acres of diverse wilderness and clearings. The land was developed in the 70's as an education, arts and health retreat and that history influences its atmosphere today. A small mountain creek meanders past gardens, berry patches, rustic cabins and a stage. The land is peppered with Ancient burned out cedar trunks that stand as a testament to the wildfire that razed the valley and the town of Fernie in the early 1900's. If guests are interested in a tour we will show you our favorites! Since Wakita borders on the wilderness of BC, we ask that our guests exercise common sense when it comes to food and fires. Upon arrival, we will provide information on the use of woodstoves, firepits, composting outhouses (for a-frame and campsites), etc. Wakita is a 15 min drive from all of the amenities and adventure available in beautiful Fernie, BC. Explore further up our road and you will find the trailheads for popular hikes to Mount Hosmer, the Three Sisters and Heiko's trail. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). If you are bringing a fur baby, please let us know. It must be on a leash at all times. Please bring your fur baby's favorite blanket or bed to sleep on. We can also provide a comfy hound bed in the room at your request. We kindly ask that you keep your fur baby off the furniture and bed, and that you please not leave your pet unattended. The Portal has no internet and reception is spotty. There is one outlet for charging, etc. Parking is on-site. Local food options include the "The Fish & Duck Pub" which is just a short walk away. Love the micro-cabin. It is very compact and thoughtfully designed. We enjoyed the firepit and kitchen. Kito was very healpful and even provided us with extra heater. The water in the outdoor shower is very cold so it could be improved. But im sure that Kito will immediately fix it if you message him. We didnt need to use it during that time so it wasnt a problem for us. Overall, it is a nice place and very private. We also enjoyed the trail.

The cabin was cute and cozy, with a warm indoor stove to keep the place warm. Lots of space with one mains bed and two small beds up top. We were there in October and we had the area to ourselves which was great, but it seemed the camping spot and Teepee were quite close to the cabin.

1 night at Lakewood Cabins

This was a pretty great little spot. The cabin is small, but it had a good setup with a hotplate, sink, fridge, & microwave. There was a big very comfortable mattress in the loft. The bathroom wasn’t too far away across the parking area and it was well maintained, with a flush toilet and a sink. Everything during my stay was very clean. I walked down to the lake, and it was about 10 minutes on a nice trail through the woods which meets up with the main road just before the lake. Property has a horse, goats and other animals. It’s quite a nice place, the host was very friendly and I will definitely be back in the summer.

Weekend Trip to Strongwater Camping and Cabins

We had the best experience at strongwater cabins. The cabins are cozy and picturesque, with all the essentials. An electric kettle and mini fridge made our experience so much better, since we were able to store our food and enjoy hot drinks on the chilly autumn nights. The cabin comes with an electric fireplace that kept us perfectly toasty as well. Hot showers and clean bathrooms and area to wash our dishes was so convenient! Cheyenne has put her heart into the property and it shows. The hosts are super accommodating! We even got to use their canoe and paddle out on Waugh Lake, and check out their infrared sauna. The cherry on top is the delightful animals that live on the property. Geese, chickens, mini ponies, guinea fowl, and more. We explored the Skookumchuck trail and checked out the amazing whirlpools. Every inch of this forest is beautiful, made better by our time at the cabin. We will absolutely return! A 10/10 experience.

Better than advertise. The Kevin was new and clean. The wood stove kept us very warm and toasty. The firepit was well stocked with cedar cut offs . Hot pool was extremely relaxing and had a great vibe. We added a canoe to our trip and fished Gardom Lake. Excellent experience, we'll be back !

Do you want to get off grid but are too lazy to pack all the things necessary to do so? Look no further! The Fairy House has everything you need to cook delicious meals (plates, forks, cooking utensils, pots, bbq grill with side burner), stay warm (hot tub, instant hot water shower, and wood stove in the house), explore outdoors with your dog companion/s (lots of land with cool mushrooms growing everywhere). We booked The Fairy House last minute and were so stoked to find it fitting our every need: time to disconnect, stars, forest walks, and hot tub time. We have been to Salmo before and love the area. Went to Nelson, hiked near Ainsworth and then sat in the hot springs. Kootenay Lake is always beautiful too, and grabbed some delicious food in Nelson on our last night. I don’t want to miss the absolute beauty of the craftsmanship that is this little house, bathhouse, and outhouse. Seriously, bravo! Thank you for sharing it with others and we hope to come back again.
