Come camp on a 40-acre parcel backing onto crown land mountains and wake up in front of 10 acres of vineyard and a view of Okanagan Lake! There is a small cabin and two camp sites to choose from. Site 1 is best suited for tents and small campervans, less than 18' or so (though people with small trailers like tear drop campers have been fine). Site 2 has a much larger flat area that can hold RVs up to 30'. Cabin available for those that want to sleep in a cozy bed and have a warm fire :) Outhouse on the property, which is just a pit toilet. It is a working farm so will likely have various equipment around at times as well as workers at certain times of the year. You’ll likely meet our very friendly and very energetic Bernedoodle, Bernie. If you prefer to keep him out of your campsite just let us know and we can keep him closer. Otherwise, he thinks he has the run of the place! Please check to see if campfires are allowed (live in a high-risk fire zone) and firewood is available with an extra charge. If you need anything to better enjoy your stay, just let us know! Our property is located in Peachland, BC. Positioned midway between Kelowna and Pentiction, it is the perfect location to draw from both population centres and is well-positioned to act as a hub for popular wine and other agri-tourism activities. We bought this property in 2008 as raw land with an old off-grid 1950's cabin on it. While the log structure was sound, the cabin needed some major renovations to be liveable. We undertook renovations, lived in it for 6 months and then moved into a yurt on a more accessible section of our property. We now run the cabin as a short term rental, have another small rental next to our house and we are using the yurt for gatherings, retreats and yoga classes! For more info, visit our website: https://for-rest.ca Learn more about this land: AVAILABLE ALL YEAR!  A backcountry-style off-grid cabin in a perfect location to explore the Kootenays. THIS CABIN IS ACCESSED BY A 0.7 KM HIKING TRAIL ON PRIVATE PROPERTY. Enjoy privacy and be close to nature at the base of Keystone Mountain. Far enough to feel like you are away from it all, close enough to experience all the Kootenays have to offer. Campfires are permitted when there is no fire ban. We have firewood available to purchase - please add this as an extra at the time of booking. Close to world-class ski hills and backcountry skiing, excellent hiking and mountain biking opportunities and even private trails right out your door. Enormous snowy peaks, clear lakes, and waterfalls characterize this mountain playground in southeastern British Columbia, where visitors can expect backcountry adventures, endless singletrack mountain bike trails, hiking trails, mineral hot springs, and small towns with vibrant arts and culture scenes. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). Ours tend to all go missing or stop working - Flashlight - Drinking water - Cooler & ice You are welcome to create your own outdoor kitchen at your cabin, but we do ask you to be mindful of removing items from the day lodge that those using the kitchen might be counting on. ***We cannot stress this enough**: This is very remote. It is truly another world up there and we cannot be there at all times so it is a good idea to have some knowledge and experience in off-grid/backcountry living!

Our hand-built cabins provide a simply magical experience, with warm, comfy beds and bedside table, a fan for summer or a heater for winter. Nearly every cabin features a small table and chairs and a mini-fridge plus an outdoor fire pit and a picnic table. The cabins’ decks are surrounded by forest. Firewood is available for $30/wheelbarrow on site when available (unless we have a fire ban.) All campsites include the fire pit and picnic table. Everyone has easy access to the spa-like washrooms with coin-operated hot showers and flush toilets. Children 8 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult in the Wash house. There’s a dish washing station in the center of the Wash House where you can refill your water jugs and bottles or wash dishes. Please do not use for washing hair or laundry or tooth brushing. We ask that you conserve water and keep the Wash House clean. If a peaceful experience is what you seek, enjoy the restful, soothing atmosphere of the forest. Learn to really appreciate the simple things in life. Take in the mountain, ocean, and lake scenery. Fishing, canoeing, or just lying on a beach. Sitting on the deck of your cozy cabin, reading a book or soaking in the magic. If you are a thrill-seeker, then adventure awaits on the turbulent waters of Skookumchuk Narrows, the rapids for which our magical place is named. Skookumchuk is an old Chinook word meaning Strong Waters. There’s a timetable for you to consult to catch the tides at the best times. Follow the link below. Hit some rigorous trails on your mountain bike, hike through forests, up mountains, or at oceanside. Take a wild ride to untouched wilderness with our neighbouring Adventure Boat Tours.
