Such a fun campsite with lots to do! Melanie’s family is very welcoming and the site felt safe. Our toddler had lots of fun at the water, U-picking fruit and there were even some fun games. Definitely recommend staying here!

Easy to find and locate. Sites are not secluded but during my stay there was no one else nearby so that was not an issue. Hosts seem kind and dedicated to providing a good experience. River access is a highlight.

Overall, the place has a lot of potential. The river is incredible for a dip, and the area is very pretty ❤️ Some things to note: the campsite is beside a very busy highway, so it was noisy at night, but we slept through it. It's very open-plan, so not much privacy between plots along the river. Felt safe there; I left my bike out while we went into town, and nothing happened to it. The loo was disgusting - full of feces, flies, and just very smelly. Probably the worst campsite loo I've seen.

We were fortunate to find availability for our last minute decision to find somewhere to stay close to town and river - it is close to the highway and rail but also near the glacier fed river which is wonderful if you wish to cold plunge or just float into town, (note we sleep with earplugs too.) Best for self contained - sites are large with picnic table, very close to Highway and the hosts dog is beautiful. They also have an option to hire a gas fire and have some on-site vans available. Thanks again 😄

Melanie was a great host. Check in instructions were clear and convenient. The campground is located along highway 1 so super convenient if you are in transit. It has a great little dock in the river for a quick swim after a day of driving.

This is an over priced disaster. To start with there is no visible signage to an almost impossible to find turn off ... if it weren't for gps you wouldn't find it. You turn off and reenter the highway when leaving at a very dangerous corner. East bound you need to turn across the west bound lane on a corner and from the very beginning of a passing lane ... right when people are accelerating to pass. As advertised, other than full hook ups there are no amenities ... no anything. The sites that are available are amidst derelict buildings and a yard full of junk. You are not met by the host and she never answers her phone but does reply to voicemails. It seems like she prefers texts but she either blocked my number or doesn't accept them as I was unable to text her. The pet policy is that pets are to be on leash although their dog wondered around the site regularly ... seemed like a friendly dog but you never know. The gate to the property is always locked by a pad lock with combination dials that are almost unreadable ... every time you have to leave or reenter you have to deal with that stupid gate. Of note, despite this security effort the intrusion alarm on my 2019 F350 went off twice on the first night ... the first time in six years that the intrusion alarm was activated ... strange but not suggesting blame. Given the grimness of the site I don't understand how $75 is fair payment and find the HipCamp fee of $15 extreme as well ... keep driving ... don't stop here

Riverfront Yurt with Mountain Views

Lovely location just off the highway. Bed was incredibly comfortable and everything was just right! Perfect for a stay over on the way to Banff from Whistler.

It was fine. It was somewhere safe to sleep. I thought it would be more than it was, I thought I could walk around and maybe have a quiet moment by the river. No where really to explore or anywhere to sit at the river. Ladder-like stairs down to the wee dock. No riverbank or beach area. The portapotty could use a dump out. I drove into Sicamous to walk around the town as I exhausted the campground amenities in minutes. When I first arrived the gate was open and I was able to go right to my site and set up my tent. When I left to go into town it was still open. When I came back 2 hours later it was locked and I had to text to get the combo to get back in. It felt a bit disconcerting to be locked in/out. What if I needed to leave for an emergency in the middle of the night and didn’t have the code? How would I’ve got out? I’m glad it was secure, I would’ve rather had the code upfront when I arrived. The dog was very friendly. The horses in the pasture next to the camp were nice and I was able to get in nose pats. The highway noise was louder than I expected. Big trucks slowing down into Sicamous. Only one other guy camping with his big dog. No real privacy between sites. It was fine but I don’t think I’d stay again.

Amazing Host & Peaceful Stay

We had a fantastic stay and would happily return. Melanie was an amazing host—friendly, welcoming, and very responsive from the moment we booked. The site was exactly as described, easy to find, and well maintained. We felt safe, comfortable, and relaxed throughout our stay. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and a great place to unwind while enjoying the surrounding scenery. Everything was organized and the communication was excellent. It’s clear that Melanie genuinely cares about her guests and works hard to make sure everyone has a great experience. Site 3 - Hangin Loose in Sicamous Camp Sites

It would have been nice to have met the host to make it more personable. I know they are working at making it better, trailer gravel stalls to narrow, fire pits way to close to your neighbor. Highway traffic noise and we heard trains regularly. Indy the dog was the best! Also, I found the price for a site with no service was the same price as one with service "it was a last-minute decision" we weren't sure where to go. You are not allowed to bring your own firewood. If you have a kayak of your own, they still expect a fee. I might have been interested to pick and buy some of the grapes but again no one was there. Party with loud music on Saturday night and again no one on site. I know that it was off season, but I always like to meet the host even if they were there just a bit to meet us. Wish them all the best.

I was a little disappointed when I arrived as it wasn’t advertised very accurately. I think it’s expected for a campsite to have trees around the sites and it was just a field with picnic tables. I enjoyed the owners not disturbing us during our stay, but I wouldn’t stay here again just due to the lack of privacy. There was also no working bathroom, only a porta potty. Which was also not advertised I believe. The river view was nice, but I personally didn’t use it and tried to spend as little time at the campsite as possible. I was the only guest there in the tent sites area, and if there were other guests there I would be more upset about the lack of privacy. Not the worst, but for being the same price as the other campsites I stayed at (I roadtriped staying at campsites for only a single night) it was not worth it.

Perfect place for an overnight while travelling through for our needs. Friendly welcome, nice atmosphere. There is some road/ train noise but that is to be expected so close to the highway. We really enjoyed it for a quick and easy stopover on our way through from Sk. to Vancouver. Thanks!

We got there late. Was able to get instructions to get in and to the site (different than what we booked) we needed a place last minute. So all good. Traffic noise was heavy and also a lot of train noise. The washroom was a porta potty. But there was a cold water sink to wash up with soap. The redeeming quality was the swim in the river behind us in the morning. It was really nice.

Quiet, Enjoyable, Roomy Yurt

We booked the yurt (lot #5 I think) close to the river and my sister and I (both Queenagers) really enjoyed the experience! We had everything we could possibly have needed, from dishes - bring your own mugs & french press if you make coffee - to bedding. The king mattress (Kingsdown) was superb, the area was quiet (the trains lulled us to sleep and were not at all intrusive in noise levels) and Jared helped us when we needed a charger boost for devices. Our only note would be that access to the fast-running river nearby is almost like a ladder; not without risks for little ones or those of us hoping to kayak. That's okay - we went to nearby Flocky's Beach to put in. The nearby Dutchman's Dairy is not to be missed (more flavours of ice cream than you can count) although if you're coming from Kelowna, you'll drive past Hangin' Loose a few times before you know where to turn off the highway. Slow down if you can to turn left and find it. But again, the yurt experience (our first!) was exceptional. And way less in price than many other such offerings.

Site 2 - Hangin Loose in Sicamous Camp Sites

Host was responsive and friendly. Great views and nice to have a playground area for the kids. Sites were clean and well maintained. Loved that there was a shower and sink next to the Porta potty! The tent sites are very open so not a lot of privacy between. We felt the wood was a bit pricey for the amount you got, and had to request a fire pit. Overall a really nice stay and would come again! Thank you!!
