Relax and unwind by the fire pit, or venture down the creek and explore the twists and turns of the crystal clear water. Located just over 1.5 hours from Brisbane, we are within easy reach for a perfect little getaway. We only have one site available so you will have this great little spot all to yourselves. We are within easy reach of Main Range National Park, Mount Cordeaux, and Mount Mitchell, as well as the Historic Maryvale Crown Hotel and Spicers Resort. Warwick is half an hour away. Horses/cattle live here so animal droppings are to be expected and cattle may bellow from time to time, it is a working farm after all. Please do not feed the horses or cattle. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash/restrained at night. Pets must not disturb any of the livestock or native animals in the area. If you a lucky you may even spot platypus, there is abundant birdlife, bandicoots and bettongs if you are a nature lover. Campers must be fully self sufficient with their own camping toilet and must take all rubbish and waste with them on departure, as per the 'leave no trace' policy. Please leave logs supplied for seating for the use of all campers. BYO firewood.

Lucky’s Ridge is a 120acres property of bush, heavily timbered with straight eucalyptus, situated north NSW, near Tabulam, at the foot of great dividing range. It’s subtropical (summer rain, dry winter usually, no frost). The primitive campgrounds have two compost toilets and two wood fired hot showers. Camp kitchen has a wood stove/oven, kitchen sink and benches (no fridge). All water taps are on rain water. There is a herb/veggies garden guest are welcome to pick from. Please be aware that there is only 12v power available (usb charging station), and Telstra reception is there but just and Optus is patchy. I have friendly dairy goats, sheep, cows, pigs and horses roaming on the property, maintaining the grass short and fertilised (watch for the poop!), and chickens, duck and rabbits, all mostly free range in the Permaculture garden and orchards near the house. I'm into homesteading, and I grow and raise (and butcher) most of my food. I enjoy sharing my land and experience with others, so I’ve recently had a primitive campground approved and open. It was mostly to host seasonal self reliant backpackers coming to pick blueberries at Mountain Blue, so it offers a bit more than just a place to camp, but it stays rather rustic. I’m also keen to host people interested in off grid living and sustainability or whoever wants to come and camp in this quiet, not crowded at all part of the bush. Hipcampers please be aware that from August til December, backpackers may be living at the campgrounds. If you are interested in a garden tour, feeding the animals, milking the goats and/or pony rides, please let me know in advance. We also have some mountain bike trails (jumps, etc) for keen riders (work in progress).

Welcome to “Karinya” which means peaceful and happy home. We are delighted to share our property with those that appreciate nature and want to take some time out amongst the gum trees. We are on a koala and wildlife corridor so respect for our wildlife as well as our domestic livestock is essential. We are conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway but once you set up camp, you will feel miles away from anywhere. Relax at camp or wander down to the creek to swim, fish or kayak (if the seasons are favourable); birdwatch, hike or mountain bike along the ridge; wander our flower field (seasonal picking available at additional cost); visit with the cattle and miniature ponies; stargaze and enjoy a camp fire (if there are no fire bans). If you want to explore the region, we are only 18klms from Toowoomba or Gatton and you can slip up Springbluff to easily access Highfields/Crows Nest area. Plenty of space to choose your camp, with very limited numbers accepted. Potable water available but Council requirements mean you must be fully self contained. Nearest dump point will be Gatton Showgrounds. The criticism of our space by some campers has been the nearby railway line. We have become immune to it but for some the passing coal trains is annoying. They are sporadiac - sometimes frequent, other times not. If you don't like trains, perhaps Karinya is not for you :( Leave no trace.

What a wonderful spot for some peace and quiet! We had a great lunch at the Maryvale pub before heading down. Well maintained camping area, nice level ground and a good-sized fire pit. The creek is beautiful, the stars are amazing, and satellite spotting is always fun. The cows and horses dropped by too!

From the moment I rounded the bend and looked down on the camp-site, I knew I was somewhere special. A large flat grassy space with a ready-made firepit, right beside a creek lined with trees. The hill behind the site means this beautiful spot is secluded, and you have it all to yourself! We saw and heard maybe half a dozen cars drive past the whole time we were there, and the only other sounds were birds and insects, and of course the resident beasts! One of my dogs was not very keen on the horse and cattle visits! But they were inquisitive and friendly, and my other dog got to say hello. The creek was gently babbling and the perfect temperature, with easy access to get cooled off and sit and enjoy the serenity. If you're a self sufficient camper who loves your own space, do not go past this spot! I will be back as soon as I can manage it. 🙂

We had such a wonderful stay at Highland Retreat. Kenny met us when we arrived and gave clear directions to our site — such a friendly and helpful welcome! The grounds were recently mowed and really well maintained, making it easy to set up and enjoy. The views were absolutely stunning — wide open and completely unobstructed. We especially loved having the horses in the paddock next to us; it added such a peaceful and country charm to the stay. We can’t wait to go back — highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet, scenic escape!

Very private site all to our selves perfect for tent camping! Road near by but no noise at all. Great fire pit, and beautiful little creek perfect for a dip! A bit exposed so be sure to have your own gazebo etc. Unfortunately we timed our visit with the arrival of a billion flies but otherwise great place to camp!

The camping was fantastic. Was a little confusing when first arrived, but worked it out pretty quickly. The number on the letter box at the top of the dirt road threw us, but you just turn down the dirt road and you are there. We camped down the back under the trees. was nice and shaded. You can hear the trains which are extremely loud of a night but i didn't mind that at all, was quite soothing. On the second night you couldn't hear them at all, they blended in with every other nature sounds. They do have toilets on the property, just be mindful of fellow campers using them as well. The water in the creek was very clear and inviting, was magical early morning with the sunrise watching the ducks and water birds, was peaceful. The birds have nests in the trees. Great to watch as they fed their young ones. We had 2 dogs with us and they loved every second exploring and swimming. Was great getting back to nature. Thank you Kym for a great stay.

We have 178 acres of beautiful land hidden in the hills of Tarome in the Scenic Rim community. An amazing view of the national park and Cunninghams Gap. There is a hidden creek at the back of the property that never runs dry, running from Gap Creek Falls at the top of Cunninghams Gap. The location is perfect for a quick getaway or long stay, complete privacy and little reception depending on your phone service, ensuring a peaceful camping stay. There is lots of activities within a short drive from the property including fishing at Lake Moogerah, hiking the mountain tops or having brunch at the amazing local cafe's in the area. Our campsites are hidden in the hills, down by the creek or out in the open. You will need a 4 WD to access the rear of the property. There is a steep incline at the beginning of the track followed by a tight corner because of this caravans must be off road and under 17 ft. Make sure your car has the power and weight to get it up the hill. There are 3 x 2WD camping options for caravans over 17ft or those not off road. Depending on the type of vehicle and van will dictate your camping locations. Maximum caravan access for the rear of the property is 17ft off road van. This is due to the hill climb and a tight corner at the top. Please be aware of the weight you are towing and your car is capable of pulling it up the hill. Dogs are welcome but must stay within the camp, be under control or on a leash. If you have friends who you want to invite but don't have camping gear that's okay, we have the option to hire a camper trailer. All they need to bring is food and drinks. Home to many rivers that traverse the property from top to bottom, the Boonoo Boonoo and Bookookookarara rivers and Undercliffe and Boonoo Boono Falls are close by and are popular sites to spend a few hours walking/hiking and immersing yourself in the ambient countryside. The Boonoo Boonoo and Bald rock National Parks are also within this area. The beautiful New England town of Tenterfield is about 20 minutes drive from the falls and offers visitors many shopping and restaurant options. Be sure to stop en route to visit the World War 2 tank traps - (Australia's Maginot Line) and Thunderbolt's hideout. A short drive across the border into Queensland will give you access to the Girraween National Park and a host of wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs.
