**Our camping sites vary in size and proximity to others. If you want to come with a group with several vehicles etc, please send a message rather than book separate sites. We will help find a site which suits your needs. We now have several secluded bush camp sites as alternatives to our more 'civilised' sites. They have no facilities apart from the site so you must be entirely self-sufficient. But all are single sites well away from others. We invite you to come and share our property, soak up the tranquility of our quiet valley and enjoy feeling at home in nature. And your dog is welcome too (under control please because we value our wildlife, and no more than 2 dogs per couple or family group)! The land is nearly 200 Ha in the western foothills of the Dividing Range, with the usually-flowing North Branch Creek being a green haven supporting lots of wildlife. It also includes the secluded back valley of Hann Creek to which you can walk, cycle or ride, with many tracks of lengths up to 3 km. The land is mostly open forest land with some cleared areas from its dairy-farming history, and many gullies with thicker vegetation. The property is mostly now dedicated to nature conservation and the recovery of its more natural state. It is a Nature Refuge under Qld legislation with special emphasis on recognising that the land is Githabul country, honouring local Githabul people now, sharing it with them and others, plus preserving species of plants and animals with known relevance to their former lifestyles. The name Nyalar Mirungan-ah means 'Old Women's Tears' in Githabul, and recognises that they cry because the land was taken from them and because it has not been looked after well by European people. We are now trying to care for it well, and to allow the original ecosystems to return, by lighter grazing, soil recovery and using traditional Aboriginal burning knowledge. And we welcome dogs as long as they don't disturb our wildlife. Shandy, our own dog, is very welcoming to guests and might drop in to your camp for a visit.

Tarome offers some of the best views of the Main Range and Cunninghams Gap, all of which you can enjoy from the site. The sunsets here are spectacular. The Warrill Creek runs through the property, adjacent to the campsite and is home to an abundance of wildlife and vegetation all of which you are welcome to explore. The creek runs seasonally and makes a beautiful swimming area, but is just as enjoyable when dry allowing for a great path to explore the area. The site is only a short drive off the main road so the property offers an ideal spot for short stopovers, or alternatively use it as a base to explore the rest of the Scenic Rim. The abundance of walking, hiking, fishing or biking opportunities in the area are endless, or if you are more into relaxing into some food tasting and wineries then you’ve hit the jackpot. Just an hour and a half from Brisbane CBD! In lieu of camping with nature there are no amenities and limited service with some providers, but if you are chasing something in particular please let us know. We are happy to help. We are on a koala and wildlife corridor so respect for our wildlife as well as our domestic livestock is essential. We are conveniently located just off the Warrego Highway but once you set up camp, you will feel miles away from anywhere. Relax at camp or wander down to the creek to swim, fish or kayak (if the seasons are favourable); birdwatch, hike or mountain bike along the ridge; wander our flower field (seasonal picking available at additional cost); visit with the cattle and miniature ponies; stargaze and enjoy a camp fire (if there are no fire bans). If you want to explore the region, we are only 18klms from Toowoomba or Gatton and you can slip up Springbluff to easily access Highfields/Crows Nest area. Plenty of space to choose your camp, with very limited numbers accepted. Potable water available but Council requirements mean you must be fully self contained. Nearest dump point will be Gatton Showgrounds. The criticism of our space by some campers has been the nearby railway line. We have become immune to it but for some the passing coal trains is annoying. They are sporadiac - sometimes frequent, other times not. If you don't like trains, perhaps Karinya is not for you :( Leave no trace.

The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and had a good chat after arriving. Ita a nice open area to pick a spot for your stay and a short walk to the creek to cool off on those warm days. It’s a very quiet spot with a nice backdrop of the mountain range in the background. It’s a lovely spot to just stop and relax.

We had such a wonderful stay at Highland Retreat. Kenny met us when we arrived and gave clear directions to our site — such a friendly and helpful welcome! The grounds were recently mowed and really well maintained, making it easy to set up and enjoy. The views were absolutely stunning — wide open and completely unobstructed. We especially loved having the horses in the paddock next to us; it added such a peaceful and country charm to the stay. We can’t wait to go back — highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a quiet, scenic escape!

Veterans Respite is a mix of native bushland and grazing pastures with either sheep or cattle roaming throughout. A Campfire is permitted in the designated fire-pit. Access is via a dirt track and is 4WD suitable. The camp site is flat and grassy and can accommodate off-road caravans and tents. There is a camp kitchen and rudimentary toilet/shower amenities, however guests are encouraged to be fully self-contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Pets are allowed but must be supervised at all times as there is potentially sheep and cattle, as well as native wildlife on the property. Located on the Granite Belt, 25 minutes from Stanthorpe, 45 minutes from Warwick and 3 hours from Brisbane.

There is plenty of space for social distancing. Most camp sites are 50 or more metres apart. The terrain is mostly treed with some cleared, pastured country. On the border with the Queensland town of Stanthorpe, Stonepine Ridge is close to the historic areas of Willsons Downfall and Amosfield in New South Wales. Home to many rivers that traverse the property from top to bottom, the Boonoo Boonoo and Bookookookarara rivers and Undercliffe and Boonoo Boono Falls are close by and are popular sites to spend a few hours walking/hiking and immersing yourself in the ambient countryside. The Boonoo Boonoo and Bald rock National Parks are also within this area. The beautiful New England town of Tenterfield is about 20 minutes drive from the falls and offers visitors many shopping and restaurant options. Be sure to stop en route to visit the World War 2 tank traps - (Australia's Maginot Line) and Thunderbolt's hideout. A short drive across the border into Queensland will give you access to the Girraween National Park and a host of wineries, coffee shops, restaurants and pubs. This camping property is large and you will find no better place that allows for gentle as well as more advanced walking, hiking and mountain biking. The altitude on the property varies from 900m at the top down to 50m to the bottom. The camp grounds has an easy access and campers have had no issues levelling out on the gentle slope or go higher up the paddock to the trees and the ground is level with the best views of the mountain ranges. Olive View Farm is ideal for self sufficient campers. At the front of the property near the bus shop we have permanent picnic tables set up for anyone to use. Dogs on a lead are welcome - we have lots of Kangaroos and Wallabies and we want to protect them. We are always on site and happy to help with anything you need. *Please note any negative feedback for camping received was from a festival that took place on our property in 2022 and the event organisers promised the campers facilities and did not deliver. We have 178 acres of beautiful land hidden in the hills of Tarome in the Scenic Rim community. An amazing view of the national park and Cunninghams Gap. There is a hidden creek at the back of the property that never runs dry, running from Gap Creek Falls at the top of Cunninghams Gap. The location is perfect for a quick getaway or long stay, complete privacy and little reception depending on your phone service, ensuring a peaceful camping stay. There is lots of activities within a short drive from the property including fishing at Lake Moogerah, hiking the mountain tops or having brunch at the amazing local cafe's in the area. Our campsites are hidden in the hills, down by the creek or out in the open. You will need a 4 WD to access the rear of the property. There is a steep incline at the beginning of the track followed by a tight corner because of this caravans must be off road and under 17 ft. Make sure your car has the power and weight to get it up the hill. There are 3 x 2WD camping options for caravans over 17ft or those not off road. Depending on the type of vehicle and van will dictate your camping locations. Maximum caravan access for the rear of the property is 17ft off road van. This is due to the hill climb and a tight corner at the top. Please be aware of the weight you are towing and your car is capable of pulling it up the hill. Dogs are welcome but must stay within the camp, be under control or on a leash. If you have friends who you want to invite but don't have camping gear that's okay, we have the option to hire a camper trailer. All they need to bring is food and drinks. Only 1 available, please see Extras. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water. All human, food and general waste is to be removed upon leaving the campsite. We have fireplaces set up but if you prefer a different site for your fire please bring your own fire pit. Good Firewood for camp ovens etc is available for purchase under Extras. Pre order your wood. For this one off price we will supply you for wood for your whole stay.
