A cleared grass/gravel paddock close to everything Maroochydore, Coolum and the Sunshine Coast has to offer! Our land backs onto the Maroochy River (no direct access but the boat ramp is less than 5 minute drive away) and each site is sheltered by tall trees. There are 3 defined sites with plenty of room for privacy and escape in nature. Bring your own push bike or walking shoes to explore the mangroves and bushland. We have an abundance of native wildlife and it’s a good idea to bring mozzie/insect repellent. We do have plenty of firewood available although if it’s been raining it will be best to BYO wood. We have a communal fire pit you can use (please don't camp on the grass near the fire pit). We kindly ask all campers to be 100% self-sufficient as we do not have any waste, water, or power facilities. You carry it in you carry it out. Our site is 2WD friendly although once again if it's been raining it's best to stick to the gravel roads. Please message me if you have any questions! To keep us all safe, we have some VERY IMPORTANT notes: Please stay on the gravel roads - there are deep holes and drains hidden by long grass on neighbouring blocks. These can cause damage to vehicles and you will need a tow truck to be recovered. Bring your pets, please keep them close as we have no fences.

You drive through the grid and a peace descends as you take in the sights of this lush horse property. Situated in the Hinterland between Maleny and Kenilworth, the property is approx. 60 acres of timbered pasture, with the Mary River as the boundary. There is plenty of natural bushland and the river to explore or for quiet contemplation listening to the sounds of cows, sheep, goats and chickens in the distance for those who wish to spend a quieter time with us. Behind us is the Bellthorpe Range for 4WD, bushwalking, mountain biking, or riding your own horse. There's fishing under the Conondale Bridge, 10 minutes away and if you want to drive a little further north on your way to Kenilworth, there's a variety of State Forests and National Parks to enjoy. Kenilworth hosts quite a lot of festivals, including the Kenilworth Rodeo, so it's country living at it's best. In the opposite direction is Maleny, a trendy town, with lots of day visitors and coffee shops up and down the street. If you come in May, there's the Maleny Show and there's always historic places to visit along the escarpment with magnificent views down to the Coast. PLEASE NOTE: FISHING IS BANNED IN THE MARY RIVER FROM 1 AUGUST TO 1 NOVEMBER ANNUALLY AS THIS IS FISH BREEDING SEASON. We (and the fish) appreciate your understanding and co-operation.

Whether you’re up for some local exploring or just want to kick back at camp, you’re in a great spot. Pull up, pitch your tent, or park your van and let the serenity (and possibly the distant mooing) wash over you. Whether you’re here for a chill night under the stars or a few days of reconnecting with nature, you’ll feel right at home. ⸻ DOGS WELCOME! We love furry campers! Just keep them close, preferably on a leash within the camping area. We want them — and our cattle — safe. ⸻ FIRES ALLOWED What’s a campout without a campfire? You’re more than welcome to have a fire — just make sure it’s in the designated fire pit. No firewood? No worries! The sites are level pastured camping areas with lovely trees providing good shade alongside the river. We have tried to preserve the natural ecosystem on the river bank so it is heavily wooded and largely untouched. The total area for camping is approximately 500 metres with only four sites spaced far apart to ensure plenty of space and privacy. Each site has very easy access to the river, via a couple of tracks. You can enjoy swimming and kayaking in the river. Fishing is welcome when permitted but must be catch and release only. There is plenty of wildlife to see, especially for bird watchers: kingfishers, parrots and birds of prey as well as platypus, air breathing lungfish and Mary River turtles. Access is 4WD or AWD only. In severe weather the Mary River can flood. Be prepared to leave in extreme weather. Campers must be self sufficient with their own camping toilet and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Pets are welcome.

Wonderland 4WD Bushcamp is located 15 minutes from Maleny in the heart of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Our sites are secluded, private, and rustic. If you truly want to "get away from it all", you've found the place! PLEASE ENSURE YOU READ THE DESCRIPTION FOR THE SITE YOU ARE BOOKING BEFORE MAKING ANY REQUESTS. ALL VEHICLES ON EVERY BOOKING MUST BE CAPABLE OF REACHING THE SITE. Due to the nature of our access tracks, all campers are met via meet and greet at every opportunity. Because of this we have a two night minimum stay requirement for The Gun Range and The Summit. Please DO NOT ASK if we will make an exception for your group to stay only one night. Friendly miniature galloway cattle freely roam the property here. You may see us driving around in our Jeep, giving them lots of treats and cuddles. Other than that, our hope is that you don't see anyone but the local wildlife.

Welcome to The Hills Looking for a classic country escape with a dash of adventure and a healthy dose of fresh air? You’ve found it! Tucked away on our peaceful working farm, this is where the birds sing louder, the cows moo freely, and the pace of life slows down. We’re just a short drive from the charming Woodford township, about 40 minutes from Somerset — perfect for grabbing a coffee or topping up supplies — and close to the Stony Creek Day Use Area, ideal for a bushwalk, picnic, or refreshing dip. No worries! Firewood is available from the stall down the road before you head up — $10 a bag. ⸻ • BYO Essentials: • Shower setup • Toilet • Rubbish bin (and please take all rubbish with you – leave no trace) • Poo bags — please pick up after your dog • Firewood (or grab a bag for $10 from the stall down the road) • Tent, van, or camper • Fairy lights • A healthy dose of respect – for the locals, the land, and fellow campers ⸻ Come for the views, stay for the vibes, and leave with a full heart. This is camping, country-style – no frills, just the good stuff. IMPORTANT NOTICE: For your safety and the protection of the surrounding environment, all guests are required to stay within the designated camping area at all times. Leaving the marked camp area is not permitted under any circumstances. Thank you for respecting this rule and helping us maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Where to go

Sunshine Coast

North of Sandstone Point, escape to the Beerburrum and Beerwah State Forests to hike bushland trails with views of the Glass House Mountains. Further north, the beaches of the Sunshine Coast are among Queensland’s most popular. Hit the beach at Caloundra, Noosa Heads, or Rainbow Beach, and don’t miss top attractions, including the Eumundi Markets and Australia Zoo.

Moreton Bay

Follow the coastal road south of Sandstone Point through Deception Bay and Beachmere for a scenic road trip. The beach resorts of Scarborough and Redcliffe are ideal for exploring the bay—go paddleboarding, take a whale-watching cruise around the islands, or follow the Clontarf-Redcliffe coastal walk. Ferries for Moreton Island leave from Brisbane, where you can spend the day beach hopping or snorkelling the Tangalooma Wrecks.

Around Lake Wivenhoe

Campers will find plenty of options around Lake Wivenhoe and neighbouring Lake Atkinson, just under two hours’ drive west of Sandstone Point. Swim, snorkel, and fish at the beaches, explore the lake by boat or kayak, or cycle the waterfront trails. Nearby, D'Aguilar National Park has a network of hiking trails and remote bush camping.

When to go

The sun shines year-round in Sandstone Point, and beachgoers can swim and surf right through autumn. Summer (December through January) is peak season, and the small town fills up with holidaymakers, so book campsites well in advance. Daytime temperatures average 20°C in winter, and off-season camping often means lower prices too. Visit between May and September for a chance to spot migrating humpback whales along the coast.

Know before you go

  • There is a supermarket and a few shops in Sandstone Point, but for camping gear or to stock up on supplies, head to Caboolture, a 20-minute drive away.
  • Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations in advance.
  • If you plan to drive on the beaches and trails of Bribie Island, you’ll need a high-clearance 4WD.
