Stonesthrow is a 106 acre rural property in the peaceful Illinbah Valley. Nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, we are about an hour (a stones throw) from the Gold Coast or Brisbane. Over time, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses and is now a family hobby farm. We currently have three dogs, cows, horses, goats and some friendly donkeys who love to meet new people for some pats and a carrot! We offer a choice of sites- either Lower Sites close to the beautiful shallow creek that meanders its way through the property or Elevated Sites with views of the valley. LOWER SITES have access to facilities- toilets, a powered shed, kettle, fridge and a sink. Most sites offer 2WD access yet still facilitate the experience of camping in the bush. These are the only sites that caravans can access. ELEVATED SITES have stunning views of the valley. These sites are only accessible by capable 4WD and require you to bring your own sealed, chemical camping toilet and ensuite tent which we sight on arrival before allowing guests access to the track. Check-in must be during daylight hours to enable safe access. Off-road camper trailers can access these sites. When submitting a booking request, select either a Lower Site or Elevated Site. Please include your vehicle make and model, camping setup (tent/swag/camper trailer), type of toilet and ensuite tent (if requesting an elevated site) and number of occupants (adults, children, dogs). The camp grounds has an easy access and campers have had no issues levelling out on the gentle slope or go higher up the paddock to the trees and the ground is level with the best views of the mountain ranges. Olive View Farm is ideal for self sufficient campers. At the front of the property near the bus shop we have permanent picnic tables set up for anyone to use. Dogs on a lead are welcome - we have lots of Kangaroos and Wallabies and we want to protect them. We are always on site and happy to help with anything you need. *Please note any negative feedback for camping received was from a festival that took place on our property in 2022 and the event organisers promised the campers facilities and did not deliver. We thoughly enjoyed our time at Bares Hideaway. Camp sites are grassy and level. Facilities were more than adequate. Plenty of room to spread out a little. Close to Granchester Hotel, awesome meals and not too far from Mulgowie when the markets are running. The markets are well worth a visit. Highly recommend staying here for a weekend or a few weeks.

We had such a wonderful stay at Gums. The site was private, peaceful, and a really decent size, giving us plenty of space to relax without feeling crowded. The property is clearly very well looked after, and the added gazebo with chairs and tables was such a bonus, perfect for meals, shade, and winding down in the afternoons. It’s a beautiful escape so close to Brisbane, yet it feels like you’re a world away. We’ll definitely be back!

The site is very well maintained, very tranquil with the tree, wildlife and sound of running water through the place. Was good to do a little explore/walk of the creek and just relax under the stars. Shayne was very helpful with directions for us to get there and super accomodating. Not too long a drive out but felt like we were way out in the bush, no service and switched off for the stay. Was a lovely location with plenty of natural shade to utilise too. Will be back for sure :)
