Stonesthrow is a rural property in the Illinbah valley, nestled between Beechmont and Canungra, with council approval for limited camping (4WD only - leave no trace). So if you want to escape the crowds at public campgrounds, your privacy and enjoyment are assured! We are NOT a 4WD park so vehicles must be parked up at your site on arrival and left there unless leaving the property to go to town/tourist activities. Any exploration of the property or travel to toilets is strictly on foot only- NO 4WD'ing. Anyone driving around the property will be asked to leave. There is 500 m of (shallow) creek frontage, kms of walking/riding trails and grassy creek flats for recreational activities. Over the decades, the property has been used to farm goats, train racing camels and spell racehorses. There is also a variety of fruit trees and plantation timber. Caravans are restricted on where they can access- with no guarantee of sufficient sunlight for solar. Elevated/remote sites cannot be reached with a caravan- please bear this in mind if booking with a caravan. Elevated/remote sites require capable 4WD's with off-road/AT/mud tyres only and campers need to be fully self-sufficient including having their own chemical camping toilets. If you don't have your own commercial chemical camping toilet then you will be given a choice of sites with access to facilities. We reserve the right to view/verify your toilet before allowing you access to the elevated/remote sites. Well behaved dogs welcome as long as they are on a lead when moving about the property. The common area (old shearing shed) has composting toilets, communal fridge, microwave, jug, drinking water, sink for washing up and table/chairs. Welcome to my beautiful 100 acres that backs on to Springbrook National Park. There are crystal clear freshwater creeks. Most campsites next to the creek. The property is mostly natural bush with some cleared patches for camping and horse grazing. The road entering the property is damaged due to the resent rain and you will need to drive through water. Most cars are safe but if you have a low set car or if you are delicate with your car I would not recommend. Only 30 mins from natural arch and 20 mins to great fishing and crabbing in the tweed river. Dog friendly (must be well controlled no aggressive dogs). Drop toilets and hot showers. There are 2 cabins available each with private portable toilet and hot outdoor showers. Campfires permitted ( when fire bans not in place) and wood can be purchased in advance during booking process. No fire wood to be collected off property BYO or purchase in advance. Not a place for loud music and parties, happy for everyone to have fun but noise is restricted. So please respect it and enjoy it as we do. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate. Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots. We rotate the sites and rest them. Then they don’t get overused. We want our camp sites to look lovely for you. We pride our self’s on having a lovely property. If it is bad weather, we will recommend another site or we can give you a full refund. Campfires are allowed at designated camp spots when fire bans aren't in place. Firewood is available to purchase . We have a no dog policy. We accept groups however we have strict rules around this, so please discuss with us first. If you are up early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see the best in QLD barefoot water skiers training on the lake and also tandem hang gliders getting towed up from the airstrip. There are plenty of activities to try around town, from bushwalking, exploring the Rail Trail in Murwillumbah and downhill mountain biking at the Uki Mountain Bike Park (Less then 8Km from our property). The property is just 5km from the beautiful village of Uki. Uki is a place where community spirit hums. Village markets every Saturday selling local foods and crafts. The Old buttery offers ‘the Uki Buttery Bazaar Market’ on the 3rd Sunday of every month. Don’t forget to pop into the Uki Trading Post (Bastion Lane) for the Best coffee in Australia. The Mt Warning Hotel situated in Uki Village also offers all meals as takeaways and a complementary curtesy bus running from Friday 5PM through to Sunday. Stock up on supplies at the village General Store. Pet welcome on leash and under control. Campfires are permitted within local regulations. Firewood is available on site $15/bag. Bookings at Natural Bridge Retreat have to be for a minimum of two nights. As most bookings are for two or more people for two or more nights, the service fee is generally 11.2%. A beautiful creek descends through the 135 acres which includes rainforest that is listed as State significant vegetation. There is a deep swimming hole at the waterfall and other swimming areas up and down the creeks. You can hike to the upper plateaus that feature two ancient Strangler Figs with ocean views and a view of Mt.Warning as well as to the Bushranger Caves and lookouts higher up on the Lamington Plateau. Natural beauty is everywhere you look with mountain views, volcanic boulders and rock formations, Upland Rainforest and lots of wildlife. This is a property for nature lovers. Mobile reception (Telstra works the best), flushing toilets (ladies & gents), hot shower and campfires are permitted in designated locations - sorry no pets.
