Hart Hill

19 sites · RVs, Tents28 acres · Thanes Creek, QLD
Hart Hill boasts a stunning 28 acres. Your initial view of the property coming over a Thanes Creek causeway is that of a magnificent rock face. However, 600m down the road, through the gate, and over the ridge, Hart Hill exposes a lovely undulating fold baring a huge panorama of flat alluvial ground that hugs Thanes Creek. Sprinkled with gums, the camping area is based west of the property in a stunning shady lea cooled by the creek and an old windmill for a backdrop. The properties history is colourful. In 1869 the area was a hub for gold diggers wanting to strike it lucky. Old wooden stumps tell a story of an old mining hut, and if you dug in some of the rock heaps you might get a shock when you uncovered more than gold. Visitors can enjoy campfires, fossicking, including swimming, kayaking, fishing and more dependant on seasonal changes to the creek.

Wes's Camping Ground

15 sites · RVs, Tents22 acres · Leyburn, QLD
Wes's Camping Grounds is located on the Canal Creek. We have many different sites to choose from, either right beside the creek, amongst the trees or in the open paddock if you need to charge your solar. Guests are required to be fully self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is something for everyone here at Wes's Camping grounds. With several deep water holes on the property that are home to many fish species just waiting to be caught like yellowbelly, jew and carp. Imagine sitting, relaxing beside the creek while the kids are playing football or swimming just up stream. Bring your pushbikes or even a kayak and paddle up and down the creek. The kids will love to explore the property and shallow rock pools or even swim in the deeper water. Or just simply sit back and relax by the fire side and enjoy the serenity. We are close to Leyburn township with a general store and takeaway shop and of course like most little country towns a fabulous little pub providing a home cooked meal and cold refreshing drinks. Pets welcome.

Sherwell Farm

8 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Thanes Creek, QLD
Once owned by a lawless bushranger, Angus McDonald, legend has it that Angus and his gang stowed their loot out at the property. Some say to this day no one has uncovered his gold treasure. The last of Angus and his gang can be seen hanging from 'hang mans tree' in the middle of his hideout. Such a great story, if only it was true... or is it?

Bretim’s Farm

14 sites · RVs, Tents65 acres · Leyburn, QLD
UPDATE. CAMPSITE WILL BE CLOSED FROM MID MAY TO END OF AUGUST 2024 FOR FAMILY REASONS. Bretim’s Farm is a 65 acre grazing property near Leyburn in the Southern Darling Downs Qld. The campsite is open and has a large open area with “choose your own spot” sites. We do have a fully equipped BBQ area and playground for the kids but unfortunately we have had to close the camp kitchen since the floods. Currently we are not running any sheep or cattle having destocked due to issues with sheep caused by the extremely wet weather recent flood events. So sadly cannot offer lamb cuddles and feeding. However, we will be working our pasture and getting ready to restock with cattle and a few sheep in 2023. We offer drive-through shady sites along the banks of our seasonal creek 1.2kms down a dirt farm track at the back of our property. The creek generally usually runs December - March then it goes shallow & waterholes can dry up in drought - although this past 2 years it has flooded several times and has run all year. Dog friendly (must be on a lead), rain and bore water available, a long drop loo and fireplaces available (when fire restrictions aren't in place). Showers available in rustic facility. Many local festivals and event in nearby rural centres - Leyburn, Millmerran, Warwick, Stanthorpe, Toowoomba.
