We pride ourselves on keeping the property lovely and clean. We are also opening our home and farm to you. So please respect it and enjoy it as we do.
We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate.
Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots.
We pride our self’s on having a lovely property and want you to have an amazing camping experience.
If it is bad weather, we will recommend another site or you can change dates.
Campfires are allowed at designated camp spots when fire bans aren't in place. Firewood is available to purchase .

We do have a lot of rule, they are in place to give you a Beautiful environment to Camp in and To look after our Animals and farm.
We accept groups however we have strict rules around this, so please discuss with us first.
If you are up early in the morning you may be lucky enough to see the best in QLD barefoot water skiers training on the lake and also tandem hang gliders getting towed up from the airstrip.

Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.
Please note Lions Road is temporarily closed for road repairs and expected to be reopened late January 2026. We can still be reached on Gradys Creek Road off Summerland Way, ignore Google maps if it directs you to Lynches Creek Rd.

Boat launch locations are available for campers at designated areas within the campsite and to comply with our SEQ Water licence:
* No parking within 20 metres of the water.
* Vehicles must stay on the designated road and cannot drive down to the boat ramp.
* After launching, vehicles and trailers must be parked back up the hill within the Pointro boundary.
* Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge.
* Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight.
Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party.

The location of the Treehouse was chosen by our then young children. We all fell in love with the magnificent camphor laurel tree growing at the edge of the seasonal creek.
We all found ourselves drawn to that place, so with the help of our friends and our children we began the project of manifesting a dream into a reality - the dream of living in the tree canopy.
As we worked on the Treehouse, the design was constantly changing. The whole family, especially our youngest son, contributed to the manifestation of the dream. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate.
Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots.

For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away.

* After launching, vehicles and trailers must be parked back up the hill within the Pointro boundary.
* Marquees and similar structures must be at least 6 metres from the water’s edge.
* Boats may be moored during the day but must be removed overnight.
Breaches may result in fines from SEQ Water, which will be passed on to the responsible party.

We all found ourselves drawn to that place, so with the help of our friends and our children we began the project of manifesting a dream into a reality - the dream of living in the tree canopy.
As we worked on the Treehouse, the design was constantly changing. The whole family, especially our youngest son, contributed to the manifestation of the dream. Recently stayed here for two nights camping and had a fantastic experience. The facilities are really good, and the park itself is a great size—small and intimate in parts, very well manicured, and clearly well looked after. The hosts were absolutely lovely and very welcoming.
The ice and drink facilities are a great idea; if the office isn’t open, they simply charge it to your credit card, which is super convenient. The bathrooms and showers are older, but they were spotlessly clean and very tidy.
The location is a real highlight, with only a 5–10 minute walk to some of the best hiking you’ll ever do. We would happily stay again.

Our host (Guy) greeted us on arrival and made us feel welcome at all times.
The kids fed the animals and collected the eggs.
The facilities were clean and well maintained.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the campsite.
Our son was especially excited to help take care of the animals, and we were truly grateful for how thoughtfully you even included him in collecting eggs. Thank you so much for that kindness.
After we returned home, he drew pictures of his favorite moments from the stay, and it became an unforgettable family memory for us here in Australia.
The farm is incredibly sustainable, and coming from Japan, we were genuinely impressed and inspired. Everything was clean, the site was spacious, and the scenery was absolutely beautiful.
English isn’t our first language, so there were a few moments when we didn’t fully understand the instructions. We really appreciate your patience and understanding.
We are so glad we chose to come all the way from Japan to stay here. It was truly worth it!

We loved our three night stay at Dead Tree Alley.
Guy the host and his children were so helpful and it was great to chat while the geese, chickens, Guinea fowl, pigs, roosters, alpacas, goats, cows etc were being fed.
We will be back one day soon.
We can absolutely recommend this Hipcamp for anyone wanting to relax and reconnect with nature.
Only one hour west of the Gold Coast!!

Had the most beautiful time here. Stayed at the Creekside camp - wallabies hopping round of an afternoon, ducks and ducklings by the creek, which is beautiful and clear, perfect for a swim and to rest by on the grass. Amenities were super clean; the grounds were kept to a very high standard. Only a 15min drive to the Lower Portals walk too! Would definitely stay here again.

Nice grassy place, clean facilities with hot water, just have in mind that not every site has shadow from trees, like the one we picked, the ski club. Sites are big and not really that close to each other. I would say it is perfect for people with boats or jet skis, although you can hear the boats in the dam all day it is not that bad as the sites are not too close to the lake. We are definitely going back, planning already for winter, hopefully no flies during cold weather.

I recommend this place despite not having the best camping experience, but I realise it was due mostly to my set up and the weather, so definitely not Peter's fault. I rocked up in a 2WD in the rain and the roads inside the campsite were pretty rough. I drove past the amenities area and there was no safe parking for 2WD so I decided to do without and go to camp area 4, which in my opinion is the most beautiful. I camped near the dam. The views from the top are stunning and I appreciate the fact that each area has its own shower and toilet. There are also some shelters but unfortunately all taken when I arrived (fairly late, around 5pm). I imagine the place must be stunning when sunny, unfortunately I did not dare to explore it in the rain, I left early in the morning. Again, nothing to do with the campsite but if you are in a 2WD and sleep in it, it might not be the best place if it's wet. When leaving in the morning, I saw plenty of wallabies. I will try to go back in a different car and in different weather!
