Welcome to a truly one-of-a-kind private property nestled deep within a secluded valley in the stunning Byron Bay hinterlands. If you're searching for genuine peace, quiet, and a deep connection with nature, this is it. Imagine this: you're at the very end of a quiet valley road, where The Hidden Gem offers absolute privacy. There are no noisy neighbours or distracting lights here – just the tranquil sounds of the Australian bush. Our spacious camping area features 10 private tent and campervan sites set on a beautiful open meadow. It backs directly onto a vast national park, giving you direct access to established hiking trails. These paths lead straight to the top of nearby waterfalls, offering breathtaking panoramic views overlooking the entire valley. Feel free to explore our expansive grounds; you're welcome to wander through them, and yes, you can definitely enjoy a small campfire under the stars at your own campsite. We've got 300 meters of pristine, year-round, spring-fed creek frontage, complete with a beautiful swimming hole that's just perfect for a refreshing dip. Beyond the creek, take a peaceful stroll through our serene spring-fed lotus pond or explore the productive lychee orchard when it's in season. And those waterfalls? You'll find three enchanting ones within just 500 meters of the property, showing off their beauty from various vantage points. Plus, the iconic Minyon Falls is only a short 10-minute drive away. Guests have access to a charming small settlers cottage, which includes a cozy lounge area, a convenient kitchenette, and a warming fireplace – perfect for those cooler evenings. Right next door, a large, covered deck with its own fireplace offers an inviting communal space for relaxation. For your convenience, we provide clean flushing toilets and hot showers. And for the ultimate relaxation, our rejuvenating wood-fired cedar sauna is available upon request for an additional fee. Just a heads-up, you'll need to supply your own firewood for it. Despite its profound sense of seclusion, The Hidden Gem is surprisingly easy to get to. We're located just 20 minutes from the charming village of Federal, 35 minutes from the vibrant town of Mullumbimby, and only 45 minutes from the the world-renowned beaches of Byron Bay.Secluded Rainforest Views Perched at the very top of our property, approximately 600m up a scenic gravel driveway from the creek, lies The Upper Meadow Campsite. Alternatively, you can set up your tent or park your campervan on the flat ground right beside these platforms. Fresh Rainwater: A convenient tap providing fresh rainwater is centrally located in the meadow for all guests. Small Campfires Welcome: Enjoy your camping experience with your own small campfire under the stars at your site. Please remember to supply your own firewood. Shared Amenities (within 50-100m from your site): Just a short walk from the meadow, you'll have access to our inviting, solar-powered settlers cottage area. This communal hub includes: A kitchenette for your basic cooking needs. A cozy lounge with a fireplace. A large, covered deck with its own fireplace and views, perfect for relaxing and socializing. Clean flushing toilets and hot showers. A luxurious wood-fired, cedar-lined sauna, available upon request for an additional fee of $60 for up to 4 people. $15 per extra person. Upper Meadow Campsite
This was a fantastic campground and experience. Vili is a wonderful host who even gave us the opportunity to feed the kookaburras as well as tell us some history of the land. I highly recommend this spot to anyone seeking a serene, peaceful getaway. We did the walk to the waterfalls (about 2 hours return but give yourself 3) directly from the property. Its a steep climb up but was well marked with strong around the trees to show you the way. The facilities were super clean and all the wildlife really added to the experience. Thank you Vili for a wonderful stay and break from the city.

We had the best weekend ever! 🌿 The place is absolutely beautiful, such a hidden gem surrounded by nature. We came with friends, our friend’s 1-year-old baby, and 3 doggies, and it was just perfect. Everything was super clean and well looked after, and you can really feel the love and care that goes into this place. The kookaburras were amazing to see, and we loved how sustainable everything is. Vili was awesome, always checking in to make sure we were safe and having a good time. Couldn’t have asked for a better host or a better spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. Thanks again, Vili, for sharing this little paradise with us, we’ll definitely be back! 🏕️

Upper Meadow Campsite
It's a beautiful piece of land, and really well set up, having the shower and toilets makes camping life that much easier and the cabin/common area means even in bad weather there's a cosy spot to keep warm and dry. We had lovely clear views of the surrounding hills and night sky and a loved the swimming hole in the creek that runs by down the hill. Vili was a cool character, very friendly and lots of good info and recommendations for the surrounding area.

Beautiful views. Great showers, toilet, and kitchen. Villi was a super relaxed and easygoing host. We spent our days travelling around to swim in nearby waterfalls and then back to camp to relax and enjoy the views.

Gorgeous property and enjoyed our stay :) creek was pretty although if you walk to it the walk back to camp is steep! Worth it though. Enjoyed the birds, firepit and scenery

Lovely quiet area saw fireflies for first time in my life. Gorgeous creek. Slightly weirded out by the full frosted glass doors for showers. Would be great if there was firewood sold on site.

An absolutely lovely weekend stay at hidden gem. Great camping sites with awesome camping fire pit areas to use. Great bathroom and shower facilities which were kept clean. Have recommended it to many friends already and will come back again.

Backs onto goonengerry national park. Say just under 2 hr hike to the top of the falls. Difficult hike to get there not for inexperienced. Start at the two palms with white sign. Follow pink ribbons (when you hit the two logs over the creek just keep going straight) to pagura trail (that’s the hardest part) when you hit pagura trail go left until you hit south boundary trail Then it will be signed to get to waterfall trail. Camping spot amazing never seen so many stars at night

Epic property bordering the national park, loved waking to the sounds of many kookaburras laughing and listening to the creek run at night. A quick drive to nearby waterfalls. The real cherry on top was access to a clean warm shower, toilets and even a kitchen/communal area to share in the little cottage which has been maintained with love and makes the trip a little easier when it rains. Vili was a man of many stories and it was awesome to meet someone who is so connected to his land and the people of visit.

Highlight was the creek and the views for sure! Definitely take the advice for getting there in the daylight - the drive up is tricky - narrow, steep and winding road. We were surprised to see the causeway was covered in water and probably wouldn’t have ventured across - being so dark and not knowing how deep it was - but luckily a local came behind us and reassured us we’d have no problem, and to follow him - thanks Legend! Because we couldn’t see to find a spot we parked up on a flat spot near the top of the camping field - and I think it was one of the best spots! Definitely take the walk down to the creek, and no matter how cold it is, bring a towel and sunscreen, because it’s too beautiful to not go in and want to stay all day! Beautiful spot, thank you for sharing it.

The camp sites had a decent distance between them. The location was lovely, a 5 minute walk down to the most gorgeous creek. Showers were hot and facilities were clean.

We loved camping at Hidden Gem! What a special place! Loved that it was pet friendly for our fur baby! We took the trek down to the creek, was too cold to swim but I can only imagine how beautiful it would be during the summer! The camp fire area was so well thought out and nicely made! The only down side was that apart from the campfire area, the sites are a on a bit of a hill. We went in a tent and were sleeping on an angle which wasn’t the best! It didnt ruin our stay though. Highly recommend the trip. We will be back!

We loved this spot, very peaceful and scenic and had everything from clean toilets & showers, to a little kitchen with a hot plate, sink & fridge which came in handy. Colin is a great bloke and helped us with anything we needed. Will definitely be back in the warmer months to enjoy the freshwater creek!

Vili's is truly a piece of paradise. A wet, cold winter weekend was beautiful- the peacefulness, watching the clouds and must drift in, the waterfalls, the amazing covered deck, fireplace and sauna!!! Sitting on the chair swing listening to kookaburras and watching wallabies while we drink a cuppa is blissful. The amenities are incredible. Plenty of room for our group of families to set up together, and still plenty of space between other campers. We loved and appreciated how welcoming and helpful Vili and Collin are. We loved meeting the wildlife, and it's so central to access Minyon Falls and Mullumbimby. We plan to come back as it warms up so we can make use of the beautiful pristine creek 😍 Will need a 4WD to get a camper on site. I can't wait to see how The Hidden Gem continues to grow with Vili's vision of paradise to be shared!

What an amazing place to camp. We spent 2 nights here. First one with my boy and the second with my daughter. The kids had a great time. We did the walk to the rain fall which was an adventure of its own. The walk around the property was also very exciting with lots of hidden gems. We just swagged it both nights. It was full moon when we were camping. It would be pretty special going on a night with no moon and clear skies. The setup is so amazing with brand new toilets and showers. We will be back, that’s for sure.

We loved our stay here, while the roads are quite narrow and a little bumpy on the way out once you are there it's all forgotten. Collin lives onsite and is an amazing host checking in with you and providing everyone with a helping hand and everything you may need. Campsites are very spread out and the amenities are fantastic. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Don't let the lack of reviews on this newly listed hidden gem deter you! This campground is amazing! Perfectly maintained with your choice of sunny and shady spots, gravel pads for all weather comfort underfoot and brand new amenities with hot showers, flushing toilets and a shared hang out zone including a kitchen, lounge room and huge deck! The host Vili is awesome and his passion for his property shines through in everything he offers. A crystal clear creek at the entrance to the property reminded us of the Daintree in places and will keep campers cool and refreshed in warmer weather. Bordering a National Park, there is direct access to walking tracks, waterfalls and an open sky full of stars at night. We are already planning a return trip before word spreads and Vili books out!! We loved it!!!

We had such a beautiful stay here and can honestly say it is one of the best camp spots we have come across in Aus. It was so peaceful and quiet, and the views were amazing. The facilities were 10/10, with modern and clean showers and toilets, a well equipped kitchen and cosy living area. We loved taking our 4 legged friend exploring around the grounds, especially down to the beautiful creek right at the bottom. Vili (and Colin!) were great - extremely welcoming and helpful. It was just a shame we were only staying for one night, but we will definitely be returning in the future. 10/10 would recommend!
