It’s a proper back-to-nature spot, perfect for anyone needing to pull up a stump, unwind and unplug. We’re big on personal space, so we’ve placed the campsites far enough apart that you won’t have to hear your neighbour’s snoring. You’ll have your own secluded patch of paradise. This is your chance to embrace the great outdoors without someone’s caravan awning poking you in the eye. Your four-legged mate is welcome too. Just keep them on a lead while you’re exploring, but they’re free to be their goofy selves at your campsite. And of course, a campfire is practically mandatory. Each site has a fire pit, and if you burn through your wood supply faster than a pollie breaks a promise, we can sort you out with more for a small fee. Now, for a bit of housekeeping. Let's be clear, we're not the Hilton. In fact, we don't provide any amenities at all. Think of us as a safe, private space that feels like you're in the middle of nowhere, because you pretty much are. You'll need to come fully self-sufficient. That means bring everything in, and please, take all your waste back out with you. Leave only footprints and good memories. The agenda? Well, that’s up to you. Plonk yourself in a chair with a good book, go for a gentle wander around the farm, or chuck on your boots and tackle a proper bushwalk through our 70 acres of trails. At night, the sky puts on a heck of a show, and the silence is so complete you can actually hear yourself think. We’re the new kids on this gorgeous property and are still getting ourselves sorted. Big plans are afoot for a dunny and shower, picnic tables, and fresh rainwater on tap. We'll be adding more critters, growing a heap of fruit and veg, and soon you'll be able to grab farm-fresh eggs for your brekkie. We'd be chuffed to have you come along for the ride. Don't panic about dinner. The pub in Glenreagh (5 mins down the road) does a top-notch feed, and you’ll also find a bakery and takeaway there. Nana Glen (10 mins the other way) has you covered with a cafe, chemist, servo, and a general store for all your bits and bobs. There’s no phone or Wi-Fi. Consider it a feature, not a bug. It’s the perfect excuse to ignore your emails.

Beautiful property to stay, even in rainy weather. Well signed and very tidy. Stayed in our van right on the water. Fish were on the bite. Lots of things to do and the beach not too far. Squiggles was the nicest host you'll ever meet. His pet chooks would visit for happy hour and his dogs were super friendly.

Awesome spot.. Squiggles has thought of everything for all us hip campers to enjoy. We have been to many hip camps over the last 3 years and this has to be one of our favourites. Squiggle s was friendly and welcoming and so were his dogs and chooks. The perfect spot to just kick back and relax and watch the dolphins swim past or get as busy as you like with kayaks and fishing. Thanks for letting us camp on your little spot of paradise.

Not overly crowded which was nice. Lots of cute cows in the surrounding paddocks. There are two (really well maintained) compostable toilets, fire pits, rubbish bins, (bore) water and firewood for sale on site ($15). Gregg came around to make sure everything was okay. You do get a bit of noise from the road but nothing that is unbearable.

HIDING IN THE MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE! Pure. Unadulterated. WILD. 104 very private acres, securely sandwiched between a National Park Nature Reserve and State Forest. On a dead end road. No agriculture or farms upstream, only one other like-minded property owner. Secluded, but hiding smack bang in the middle of everywhere! From vertiginous sandstone cliffs on which epipetrics cling tight, right through to palm-filled rainforests, and with two quite different creek systems (including a monster waterfall), you'll be spoiled for things to do and places to explore - without even leaving the property! HISTORY This land is Gumbaynggirr land. Please be particularly mindful of our First Nation's long presence on this land. In the 1800's, white men came seeking Red Cedar, closely followed by settlers having a go at dairying; though logging has remained this area's mainstay. This special property, despite last being selectively logged about 50 years ago, hosts many huge old-growth trees remaining steadfast for your discovery and wonder. And many more are continuing to grow out too. About 35 years ago about nine of this property's eastern-most 104 acres became part of a far larger nashi pear orchard which filled much of the flats of this top end of the valley that you see today. Ultimately they failed to set good commercial fruit, and the rootstocks took over. You can see remnant rows of these trees just south of the property, from along the road. (Beware though - they have spikes that could puncture Caterpillar tracks!) MORE RECENTLY extensive lantana control efforts have been undertaken as we now move into revegetating with native species and implementing a permaculture plan. The 2 Winegrove campsites are located along 1.2km overlooking the pristine Clarence river exclusively spaced @ 500m apart. P2 and P3 also have great views and are sheltered and private. Note: Fig Tree Lookout P2 is out of flood levels and can be accessed by high clearance 2WD, however we do recommend having 4WD just in case during wet conditions. Boulder Bay P3, which has ONLY 4WD access, can flood during a major flood in the Clarence river, however you can park/camp higher up when wet. Where to go

Minnie Water Beach

Sometimes called Main Beach by the locals, Minnie Water Beach is a 1-kilometre strip of white sand, popular for quiet getaways, fishing, and surfing—especially for beginners. The beach is patrolled during holidays, making it a safe spot for shallow swimming and splashing in the Pacific Ocean. Sign up for surfing lessons near Rocky Point on the north end, or launch a boat from the southern tip for deep-sea fishing. Then pitch a tent or stake a swag at nearby primitive campsites that are right on the water. For a comfortable stay, try a cabin rental or caravan park with electric hookups, toilets, showers, and BBQ facilities just down the road.

Yuraygir National Park

Surrounding the village of Minnie Water on three sides, Yuraygir National Park delivers quiet treks through natural coastal regions teeming with wildlife and ocean views. Angophora Grove walk and Rocky Point walk are popular walking trails. But the best place for watching whales and capturing sunset views on the ocean is from the Tree of Knowledge lookout on the south end of Minnie Water Beach. Campers who want to stay nearby can venture inland for a choice of holiday parks with caravan and tent camping options and several amenities.

Solitary Islands Marine Park

A day trip to Solitary Islands Marine Park, about an hour south of Minnie Water, includes everything from snorkelling and diving to learning about the region’s diverse marine life and the Solitary Islands, after which the park was named. Book a dolphin or whale-watching tour, or throw in a fishing line from one of the recreational fishing zones along the coast. With more than 710 square kilometres to explore, campers can rest easy from a resort-style cabin at one of the holiday parks nearby.

When to go

The milder temperatures of spring and autumn draw the biggest crowds to Minnie Water’s pristine beaches and camping areas. Surfing, diving, and snorkelling are preferable during summer months, while nature lovers like springtime’s bouquet of wildflowers that blanket the terrain. Fall is ideal for stargazing and campfires when the skies are generally clear and evening temperatures are chillier. Be sure to pack binoculars if visiting Minnie Water between June and November—the village has a prime spot for watching humpback whales.
