A working cattle property on the Clarence River. Relax, unwind and enjoy the amazing river views and sunsets. Access to river for swimming, fishing and kayaking. 'The Hut' is fully self-contained, with kitchen, bathroom, TV, ceiling fans. We supply BBQ, Camp oven, Chairs and Tables. It sleeps up to six guests, with 1 Double bed and 2 sets of bunks. All beds have Doonas and Pillows. For groups of more than six, we have the 'Donga' next door, which sleeps up to another four. The Donga has its own bathroom and beds in one large room dormitory style. Doonas and pillows are supplied. 1 double bed and 2 single beds. Tea towels, Bath mats and hand towels supplied. BYO Sheets and Towels. Group bookings of up to 20 are welcome using additional room for tents. We offer capacity for up to 8 people in tents in addition to the 6 guests in the Hut and the 4 guests in the Donga. Access is only possible for 4WD. Our track into Hut is 4WD only. Peak time prices apply. There is no Wifi available however there is very good mobile coverage. Tinny’s or Kayaks can’t be put in directly at hut, however we can show you where you can put them in on our property. We have 2 tandem Kayaks available for your use during your stay - Kid’s must wear life jackets at all times when using the kayaks. Your booking will automatically include the Donga when booked for over 6 guests. STRA: ExemptA working cattle property on the Clarence River. What to expect
Shepherd's hut
You'll have this Hipcamp all to yourself.

Firepit. A wheelbarrow of fire wood can be purchased at Extras for $10 Feel free to collect wood and sticks also in paddock.
Toilet available
Flush toilet. We have a flush toilet available in The Hut. We also have a second toilet available in the Donga, which is made available for groups of more than six.
Pets allowed
On leash. Pets are to remain outside at all times. On a leash if cattle around grazing and in view of owners at all times.

Showers available
Hot water . There is a hot water shower in the Hut. There is also a second hot water shower in the Donga, which is made available for groups of more than six.
Bins available
Recycling bin, trash bin. All rubbish is to be picked up and placed in designated bins. Please don't put scraps in bins. Take scraps home with you or take a short walk and throw away. Make sure there is no plastic in scraps!!
Cooking equipment present
Bbq, fridge, freezer, cooking utensils, dishware, cutlery, sink or other dishwashing station. Kitchen utensils, Plates, cups, mugs are all provided. Fridge and freezer. BBQ for cooking. Dish liquid, cloths and tea towels are provided and we ask your washing up is done prior to leaving. There is a fire pit if you want to bring your camp oven or grill to cook on.
Picnic table present
A beautiful large bar overlooking the river to eat your meals on and numerous tables and chairs.

Great little place to get away for families and small groups Very quiet place to share some good family times are with a group of friends. Great for bringing pets and enjoying a relaxing time with all of the basic comforts available

Beautiful peaceful setting perched high above the river, lots of kayaking, swimming, and nights spent by the fire with my partner and dog. Perfect way to relax, also made enjoyable by visits from the cows and horses! Jess was a wonderful host, quick to reply and gave all the details needed to have a fab stay!

Highly recommend. A beautiful hilly property. Definitely require 4wd. Horses and cattle. Basic but clean cabin and Donga. Power and water tank. 2 bathrooms. Lots of flat space, river view, kayaks nearby. Everything you need.

My family and I spent 3 nights at the hut. What an amazing place. A fun little drive to reach the hut definitely would need a 4wd if you’re thinking of booking. 10/10 for me I loved it. Caught myself 3 Australian bass off the double kayak provided at the river. My kids had a blast adventuring fishing and swimming. Star gazing was a 10/10 also. Jessica was lovely and had great communication with me her hut is one you shouldn’t miss. Thanks again Jessica

Your private piece of the Clarence
‘The Hut’ on the Clarence (4WD)
Our second visit to The Hut didn’t disappoint. If you want your own secluded piece of the upper Clarence without the crowds and you’d like some creature comforts - this is your place. Jess has the Hut set up so you can just roll in and start to relax and watch that amazing view. The river also fished the best we’ve seen it with a 40+cm Bass caught almost directly under the hut!

Great spot, very private with beautiful views. Getting down to the river was a bit of a fun challenge via the nearest walking track, easier if you go for a very short drive to the recommended swimming spot. Jessica was great, helpful and easy to communicate with

Very private spot, you have your very own part of the Clarence and are far from the road so it’s really peaceful. The access is great and surrounded by green pastures and tall gums. The views of the river and sunsets from the cabin are beautiful!

The views are to die for and the hospitality is warm and welcoming. Jess is a fantastic host who has thought of everything and more to make your stay exceptional. The hut is corralled in a cattle free zone of its own, with plenty of space for a group to swag/camp in additional to the hut + donga if you prefer to sleep under the stars. Our kelpies had plenty of space for a morning run and a dip in the dam. We navigated access with our 4wd and Offroad camper trailer with no problem at all, although a 2wd especially if towing would not make it due to the uphill sections of the track. Great way to spend Xmas with rivers and national parks all around there's plenty of opportunities to explore.

The “Hut” was in an absolutely beautiful place, far enough out of the way to be completely private, but not too far to be isolated. Jessica the host was easy and a pleasure to deal with. Hut and cabin were clean and had every you need for a weekend away from the busyness of the working life.

A fabulous working farm and spot to camp and stay at the Ponderosa Hut just outside Copmanhurst. A fabulous fire pit and great basic facilities for a couple of families to enjoy the Clarence River and the rolling hills around about. A step up from camping with warm showers, toilets, a kitchen, electricity and a bed in the hut if you need it!

Jess was a great host! We were a friends group of 6-9 people and enjoyed our stay so much. The area is absolutely stunning and the hut was very clean. We enjoyed a day at the lake and walking around. At night it’s the perfect spot for marshmallows by the fire. Thanks for everything, we would definitely recommend it!

Jess was a very accommodating host. The views are stunning. You basically get a whole world for yourself and don’t see or hear anyone else besides nature and farm animals. Just what we wanted. The kids had a ball and were sad to leave.

So peaceful, private and relaxing. A magnificent property on the Clarence River with views to die for. It was hard not to lose time just sitting at the bar overlooking the river and taking in the endless views. We enjoyed a paddle on the river in the kayaks, beautiful peaceful nights around the large fire pit, and the comfort of hot water showers. Jess goes above and beyond to ensure that everything is provided for an enjoyable and problem free stay. We look forward to going back for another visit.

Loved our escape to the country! We had a really relaxing and peaceful time at The Hut. The drive in was also exciting but easily managed in my SUV so don't let thst put you off. We will most definitely be back!

I could not recommend this stay any more. We had the most amazing time at Jess’ property. The hut and donga are equipped with everything you need for an easy comfortable holiday. We brought our dogs too and they absolutely loved exploring the well kept areas around the farm. 10/10 would recommend! Just a note, make sure you take a 4WD to access. :)
